Seeing her get onto his bikd infuriates me. I fiddle with the button on my tuxedo sleeve, contemplating her proximity to another man. Suddenly, the button detaches from its thread, jolting me out of my reverie.
Anna. Anna
After freaking ten years I finally found you.
She has no idea of how I was looking for her, not knowing that we were in the same country, same city, same company and almost in the same place.
Walking towards the parking lot, I get i to my car, pulli g out my phone I dial to Jason.
"Where are you?,” I ask as soon as he answered the call.
Thinking of her is driving me crazy and especially she being with another guy.
Is he her boyfriend
How long have they been together
Fuck... this is driving me crazy
"Why in a hurry dude." Jason squeels. “In my office."
"I'll be there,” I hung up before he could utter another word. Tossing my phone to the passenger seat I start the engine.
Anna, Ibjust cannot take eyes off her lmsamw like ten years ago. When I first saw her in the bookstore the other day, it took some time to obverse her and having closer I was sure this was the girl, she was neighbour ten years ago and we grew up together. We wnet to the same elementary and middle school and I was her senior.  A day without her mever existed as we ways sticked together, walking to achool together, amd once I got a bicycle she sit behind and ridess with me. The lottle fingers clasping my uniform shirt.
Her parents were a chaos, she spent maximum of her time at my place and my mom treatsd her well. To be honest, she was ny first love, I know it's insane as we were just kids then, but that day when she left qithout a word, I felt lost. I cannot explain what went in that eighteen year old's mind, but I knew I lost her. It was late. Unaware of the situation,  I only know that she amd her mother left the city midnight.
Anna, made my eighteen year old self fall for a sixteen year old girl amd found the sixteen year old girl when she is twenty six.
The moment she was in front of my eyes, the same vook crazy girl, the same pretty eyes, the same tone of talking made nostalgic. God, how much I missed her.
I felt happiness and anxiety filled in me. I didn't know whether it is true or not. I just found her. Ten  years, freaking ten years I've tried looking  for her everywhere and finally she is here. As soon as I left the bookstore, I waited bmin the car till she left, and then I followed her to know more and that's when I realised she lived in the apartment which is my asset. Taking her details, I asked Jason to find more about her and how long she's been in this city. I follwed her, al.ost stalked for two weeks.
Coincidentallay she work in one of the company's sub branch, taking it as am advantage moving her to headquarters ro be with me was my plan. So, if i want her to stuck with me the only option is to make her my assistant, I haven't found the right candidate yet so she was my choice. Personally,  a meeting was arranged with Mr. Andrews and asked him more about Anna, he couldn't stop praising her so I raised his salary and asked him to do me favour-ut was to make her sign the cintract without letting her read the terms.
The corners of my lipsvtwitch to a spontaneous smile at the thought of her. She is still the same but a little different,  she looks mature now.
I'll get her back
I'm gonna get my girl back
I've been down since the time I knew that she left. It was like the joy and colour of my life was lost because she was the one who had always been by side when my parents were busy with work. I've never complained on ny parents schedule as I had her and she had me. I've seen her cry with snot out but she is easily convinced with a book. After Anna, left my mother apent more time with me, as mom knew I really missed her, she knew I liked her and she knew I saw our bond in a difderent way.
But no matter how much time she spent it wasn't replaceable to Anna's place.
I'm was not okay
And I was not and will never get over her.
Talking to her made my heart beat race and I enjoyed watchingher be nervous. Each time she entered the room, a foolish grin would effortlessly grace my face, reminiscent of the joyous moments we shared in the past. It felt as though the vibrant hues of life had been restored to my existence, as her mere presence became a cherished longing I yearned to fulfill once more.
I pull tbe brake by the side of thevroad by Jasons offife. Gettng off the car I climb thw stairs by the lane. I barge into his office as the door was open and I hunch into the chair in fdont of the large wooden desk. My vision takes glance at the newly polsihed name board, Phychratist Jason Millow.
"New board?" I ask as I hang ny head over the chair top railings.
"Yes, Charlotte gifted it." He says and I didn't bother to respond anymore, as I already knew it was Charlotte's gift. I sigh pinching the bridge of my on sr,bstaring at the ceiling.
"What happened?" Jason asks.
"Its Anna." I exhale.
"The girl who calls with her dog's name?" He anickets.
He will never firhey that. Irritated, I him in reply.
"I still remember how youbrushed into the crowd to from and the girl who was searching her day g named Jackie." He chuckles. Thisboerson in front of me is really enjoying my situation. "You thought she called you." He laughs.
I sit straight and watch his laugh with raised brows, till he curls this lips in and holds in his laughter and once he has done with that, he takes deep breaths in and out to calm himself.
"Did she really call you Jackie, her dog's name?" He asks again, like he always did with the same curiosity like I've lied to him all these years.
I nod. "She told I looked like it." I grunt running myvhand through my hair.
"Have you seen the dog?"
"Nah, it died befirebshe moved into the neighborhood."
"So, have you seen a picture of it?"
I snicker at the thought of him beong interested to ask about it all over again even when I'm frustrated on something.  "Yes," I reply brushing my fungers against my head.
"What type was it?"
"A bulldog."
The air in the room fills in Jason's annoying laughter.  I mentally slap myself as I place ny palm over my forehead staring down at the table.
"Is that why you don't hare any of your childhood ohotos. I'm really curiously to see the younger self of you. Just couldn't imagine tbat the tall and the handsome man, whom every girls are after was like bullfog in his childhood." He cracks in laughter again.
Anna moved into my neighbourhood when she was seven and onstead of my name she addressed me as Jackie, the name of her dog which died. She told me that we were alike and shiwed me a picture of it. At forst I hated when she called me by that name, she sometimes shout my namw out loud in school thay made me mad many times. I've pranked her necause of it and warned her not to do it again but later, as we grew close I actually started liking it. It was like my nickname and everytime she called me as Jackie, it made me delighted.
"Dude, i wonder how yoi treat your clients when they share you something personal." I look up at him and that's when he finally got his lips zipped. He opens his mouth wide and does some kind of massage, he sire has laughed hard thatvhis jaw hurts. Man, I shouldn't have rold him about my affair, he forced me reveal ny story with his dramatic beggings aftwr I ran after a random girl who lost her dog named Jackie. It really sucks when your friend has got something to tease you with, they really fuck up with our self esteem.
"I treat them because they ain't my friend. And come on, man, there isn't any fascinating story as yours."
I pass him a deathly glare and he quickly raises his hands in defense.  "Alrighy, aleight, I was just kidding. So, what happened? You seem mad. Is it because of her?"
I lean back resting shoulders on the chair railings, crossing my hands 9ver my chest. "Anna?"
"Yes."
"She is hanging up with another guy."
"That really seems to be a problem. You know who is he?"
"No," i sigh.
"Her boyfriend?"
"I wish je isn't." I rub the back of my neck, this is getting difficult.  If he is her boyfriend,  what should I do?
"So, did you tell that you're Han, her neighbour,m and childhood friend."
"No‐" i straughten my delf, resping ny arms on thw table I make eye contact with Jason.
"Why?"
"I just... what if she doesn't remember me? What if i wasn't special in her life as she was in mine." I shrug. I was hesitant to give her a self introduction because i wanted ro know if she still remebera me. I know I'm unrecognisable now but I wish I could know that she has some memory of our past.
"That’s reasonable. She won't be able recognise you anyways as you've changed alot." He takes a moment to think and continues, "What if she not the Anna you know?" He asks.
"She is."
"It's because this girl might someone else with a little 5 of the actual Anna. Arevyou sure it'sthe right girl?"
"Yes," i purse my lipa to a flat line as my mind goes to flash back. "She has stitch scar on her upper lip. It happened because of me."
Even thiugh she was still the same I made sure it was her by the scarvon her lip. I pranked her once at the school ground, I put my keg forward when walked with her friends, but before I could hold her she fell and her bottom teeth was clashwd tobher upper lip. After she was taken to the hospital,  she never spoke to me for a week and once the stutch was removed she came back to me and said she didn't show up because she looked ugly with her wound.  She didn't blame me for what i did, or was mad at me, instead she was proid she has got a unique identity on her.
"So, what are you gonna do?"
"I don't know." I sat drowsilu. "And did my package arrive?"
"Yes. " Jason bends smd ipens the drawer of the tsble from his side. "Here," he says as he tosses the book on the table.
"You removed the package?" I pick the book, brushing my thimb against the glossy ege of the cover to pressure. Om the slightly folded board.
"I was curios to know what it was."  Jason likca his lips and moves forward, he studies my movements and scoffs, "Comeon man, it's just a book."
"It's not just a book for everyone. It's a treasure for some." I take closer look at cover and I flip through pages randomly.
Jason let's out a loud dramatuc sigh, "So, what are you going to do 2ith the book?" Be asks, leaning forwad in intetest.
"I'm gonna gove ot to her."
"Anna?"
I nod as i look at him.
"Dude," he scowls aloud, hos brows dragged down and hos lips spread in an uneven shape. "A book," he points at my hand and his index finger lufts up to my eyes. "Is that a worthy gift? It does that show affection?" He asks woth raised brows.
I slap his hand away as I stand. He looks up at me, his lips formed in an o shape. "For some people, books are worth more than thousand flowers."
"It does?"
"Of course."
"How? I know they are expensive, but a book?"
I nod.
I just rmtore a book, and obviously, I never cared about it as it never meant too much to me. However, as for some people who are fond ofbit, I would definitely cry over it like Anna, and even I find it as 'just a book' I understand that it's not just a book for readers.
"I came to get this." I wave the book in the air as I make my way to the door.
