Though Lily knew the consequences of kicking Chairman Thornton were dire, she couldn’t help herself in the heat of anger. Maxwell finally let go of her and clutched his groin, groaning in pain. Without hesitation, Lily wrapped herself in the blanket and attempted to get out of bed. However, her legs buckled under her, and she fell face-first onto the carpet, looking like a helpless silkworm trapped in its cocoon. Maxwell chuckled. He reached out to help her, but Lily brushed his hand away, struggling to get up on her own, limping towards the bathroom. As she looked at herself in the mirror, her appearance was far worse than that night in Da Lat. A sudden realization hit her—something was off. That morning in Da Lat, she had woken up with no discomfort at all, but now her entire body ached, and the intimate area where they had made love was sore and burning. Even though this wasn’t her first time, it hurt more than she expected. It had been a while since her last encounter, and the intensity of Maxwell’s actions left her feeling overstretched. So, that night in Da Lat... Maxwell hadn’t done anything? He had lied… This morning, what truly upset Lily wasn’t what Maxwell had done to her. It was the fact that he had dragged her away so abruptly yesterday, ruining her chance to meet Hạ Anh Quân. She had arranged a meeting and then disappeared—how rude was that? It wasn't just about her; it was about letting Phương Linh and the baby down as well. Lily sighed in frustration, wishing she could just flush herself down the toilet and disappear. But no matter how annoyed she was, what was done was done. She couldn’t avoid the situation forever. Taking a deep breath, Lily decided to confront Maxwell and talk things through. As she opened the bathroom door, she saw Maxwell lying curled up in bed, still refusing to put on any clothes. He looked so perfect, like a flawless sculpture, except he was covering his most private parts with a white duvet. Sensing her gaze, Maxwell slowly opened his eyes, looking as though he was in genuine pain, clutching his abdomen where she had kicked him. Oh no, the kick! Could it be that she had actually injured him? She didn’t think she’d kicked him that hard, had she? Feeling guilty, Lily cautiously walked towards him, but her unsteady legs gave out, and she fell to her knees beside the bed. Maxwell reached out again, attempting to help her up, his face filled with concern. “Maxwell… are you okay?” she asked, her voice laced with remorse. He didn’t respond immediately, his body trembling slightly as though he was in the middle of a spasm. His outstretched hand suddenly withdrew, and he curled up again, making Lily panic. She forgot all about modesty and climbed up onto the bed. “Maxwell, don’t scare me like that! Where’s your phone? I’ll call someone to take you to the hospital…” Before she could continue searching for his phone, Maxwell grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his embrace, wrapping her up in the warmth of the soft duvet. Lowering his head, he kissed her cheek and held her tightly in his strong arms. Lily looked up at him, her clear eyes meeting his deep, unreadable gaze. His face moved closer, and his lips descended onto hers, stealing her breath away. The kiss was long and intense, making her feel like she was losing control of herself. Thankfully, Maxwell’s phone rang at that moment, snapping her back to reality. Startled, Lily accidentally bit his lip hard. Chairman Thornton pulled away, feeling the sting as his lip began to bleed. He wiped it with his thumb, smiling wickedly at her. “You’re brutal, Lily. First, you kick me hard enough to make me want to die, and now you’re drawing blood.” The phone continued to ring beside them, but Lily, ignoring his words, kicked Maxwell’s leg in frustration. “Aren’t you going to answer your phone?” Maxwell casually picked up the phone and immediately hung up, his eyes never leaving hers. It was clear it was time for a serious conversation. Lily straightened her posture, clearing her throat before asking sternly, “Why? Why do you keep trying to pull me into these things first thing in the morning?” Her large, watery eyes stared up at him, her expression one of defiance, like a damsel ready to stand her ground. Maxwell chuckled softly, clearly enjoying her flustered look. “If I were to force myself on you again, would you cooperate like last time?” he teased in a soft voice. Lily turned her face away, refusing to answer. Maxwell, without missing a beat, reached down to pick up the bedsheet from the floor and casually wrapped it around himself. Now serious, Lily looked at him and asked, “That night at the resort, we didn’t do anything, did we?” Maxwell raised his eyebrow, no longer bothering to hide the truth. “If you’re planning on accusing me of assault, you’ll need some actual evidence. And didn’t you say I was impotent?”
