Candramawa opened her eyes slowly. Being tied to a chair until the sun was about to set certainly made her body ache. Candramawa tried to stretch her muscles.
"Stop moving sweet girl," said a male voice with a Vertellar fringe accent.
Candrama looked for the direction of the sound.
"Please let me go, Sir. I won't hurt anyone, I came to find someone.” Candramawa tried hard. Locked up in a former butcher's room. Who wouldn't worry?
Indeed, there are no animal carcasses hanging here anymore. But Candramawa's smell was disturbed by the rancid smell of rust and the smell of moss growing from the traces of the blood of animals that were mass killed here.
The owner of the voice appeared from behind the mower. In his hands, he carried a chicken that had been cleaned of feathers, tucked casually at the end of a long air gun. He approached Candramawa, but kept his distance from her.
"You've been there all day, don't you feel hungry?" The man with mocking intonation put the chicken on Candramawa's thigh.
"I'm fasting, thank you. Are you one of the storyteller's friends in Vertellar?” Candramawa looked at the man.
"So what?" The man is interested. He took another chair and sat in front of Candramawa. Meanwhile he had the rifle slung over his shoulder. So flexible that Candramawa knew she was in trouble.
“The narrator is talking about the last Lumons and Reeda war. I wonder where he got that prophecy. So he told me to come here.” Candramawa spoke as briefly as he could. Never had the intention to come and look for trouble.
The man was stunned by the girl's words in front of him. He didn't seem to understand what Candramawa was talking about. "Since when did you guys live in this town?"
"Maybe it's been three months. And we won't be long. We won't bother you."
"So..." The man cleared his throat. “I'm not sure I understand what you just asked. The villagers here have been living in poverty for the past two years. Crises are only for the poor people. Meanwhile they, the Vertellar government, do not care about our fate. They spend their money to build nice buildings in the middle of the city.” The man turned angry, "Look at this slaughterhouse, our life is enough until they make a deal with a new factory."
Now Candramawa was confused, what the man said had nothing to do with her.
And as if he could read Candramawa's signs, the man immediately pointed at the girl. "And you kill our citizens one by one."
"I'm not responsible for that. Felis and I don't know anything.”
The man narrowed his eyes. “Felis? How many demons like you are here? Answer!" snapped the man.
"I do not understand…"
"Just answer or I'll shoot you!" The man threatens. Now he pulled the trigger of the gun. Candramawa rebelled out of fear. She was desperate and she already knew what it felt like to be shot. But the electricity stung her again. So Candramawa felt weak. Plus a rumbling stomach.
Between panting breaths, Candramawa lifted her face to look at the man. She felt she was being kind, but it didn't seem to have much effect on this man.
The man threw Candramawa's golden blue bracelet. "Where did you get that?"
“I sold it, if you let me go, I can make a lot for you. You and the people can sell it and start a new business. You can forge it into a knife, or a decoration or whatever.
Our Aisikla is as strong as titanium.” She wants to compromise.
The man was pacing around thoughtfully. He approached Candramawa with a rifle pressed against the woman's forehead. “You think I'm stupid? You will run right? Or you will eat me.”
Realizing that this man didn't understand anything about Lumons, Candramawa smiled. “I am a Weesa. I don't eat meat."
"Lie."
“Our nation is of three kinds. One eats humans, one hunts animals, one doesn't eat meat." Candramawa made up a story.
"Are you sure?" The man is hooked.
Chandrawawa nodded. "I didn't kill. Ask the old market guard man.” Candramawa turned to another man who appeared slowly from where he was hiding.
The market guard's face was frightened. Feeling guilty for making the girl selling souvenirs treated like a criminal.
"It's okay, sir," said Candramawa reading his regret.
"Now let me go, I'll make a lot of aisikla for you." Candramawa spoke softly.
The market guard unraveled a rope from one of Candramawa's palms. Thus easily one by one aisikla fell to the ground. The two men picked up a blue blade that was as strong as titanium.
"Enough, this is enough to eat a year," said the naive market guard.
But the man with the gun was not satisfied. Seeing what Candramawa could do, the man became greedy. He pushed the muzzle of his rifle at Candramawa's head.
"Get out some more."
Candramawa replied earnestly, “I can't. We also have a limit for creating aisikla. I'm out of power. Tomorrow, I will give it back to you. I promise."
“Then you are of no use now,” said the man for the last time. After that, he raised his weapon in front of his face. His eyes narrowed, measuring the accuracy of his bullet if he shot the stealth in front of him.
"If you kill me, who will give you Aisikla later?" Candramawa was still persuading.
The man was about to shoot Candramawa in the head when a red aisikla shot and made the rifle he was holding slip away and fall to the ground along with the sound of gunshots flying through the air.
Candramawa frowned. Splashes of blood stained her face. Realizing that the shot had missed, Candramawa immediately opened her eyes. She glared with shock. The hairs on her neck stood up. The man died without a head.
"Let go of me, I can help you." Candramawa begged the market guard. But the man instead ran in another direction. Then once again, Aisikla was ejected from outside, embedding itself in the chest of the old market guard man. He died suddenly. The frightened Candramawa thrashed from its place.
Then, with the cool breeze caressing Candramawa's face, the stranger jumped in front of Candramawa. She said nothing. Half of her face was covered with a cloth, making it difficult for Candramawa to guess her expression. Then Candramawa tried to read that Reeda's mind.
"It's embarrassing to see a Seeka claiming to be a Weesa."
Hearing that, Candramawa felt embarrassed instantly. However, once again Candramawa tried to find information from the thoughts of the woman in front of her. There isn't any. Her head was empty and dark. But Candramawa could feel the great strength from that thin body.
“Have you come to kill me too?” asked Candramawa.
That Reeda didn't answer, she released Candramawa's bond with only an aisikla discharge. So accurate that it made the captive girl's mouth drop open.
"Thank you, what's your name?" asked Candramawa while massaging her arm.
Reeda looked at Candramawa. Without saying anything, she jumped away.
“Candramawa!” Felis came a few seconds later. She met Candramawa. "Are you all right?" Felis scanned around the slaughterhouse. Feeling strange with the scattered Candramawa's aisikla plates and the two dead men there, she looked back at her friend.
"I'll explain later, Felis."
Felix nodded. She was about to support her friend when a reddish light flashed on Candramawa's face. Chandrawawa looked outside. The light was coming from the crowd outside the slaughterhouse.
“Villagers…” Candramawa choked.
"Yes, I was confused looking for this place, but because I saw the light of the torches flocking here." Felis replied without worry at all. "You may be in trouble."
"Give up stealth, you're surrounded!" shouted one of the residents.
“Demons… They call us demons.” Felis felt offended. She took a deep breath.
Chandrawa shook her head. "Calm yourself Felis."
Felix agrees. She didn't want to make a fuss here. She came to pick up Candramawa. But the villagers began to get out of control. They threw fire at the slaughterhouse so Felis and Candramawa quickly ran outside.
"Give up, demons!" another villager shouted.
"My friend isn't feeling well, let us go now," Felis explained, forcing herself.
Instead of understanding, the villagers who had more courage came closer and slashed Felis' arm with a sickle. Even though she was able to avoid it, Felis automatically got angry. Aisikla was sticking out of her palm. She pushed Candramawa aside. Felis did not delay. She cut everything she could cut. Villagers are shocked. Then it scatters in all directions like a panicked colony of cockroaches.
Candramawa called out Felis' name loudly. But Felis didn't care anymore. A plan took root in her head. Felis wants to make this village run out of men. She will separate the torch from their grasp. Their grip of their bodies. Then Felis would move their heads away from where they should be. She wants all wives to lose their husbands. All children have lost their fathers. Like Felix. A girl without a father.
"What's on your mind Felis?" said Candramawa after seeing Felis' thoughts.
Felis did not respond to the question. her eyes flashed, the torchlight reflected in them. Suddenly, she felt hungry. Candramawa is determined to block Felis' intentions. But her legs betrayed her. Yesterday's gunshots made Candramawa fall to the ground. Next to one of the cut bodies of the man who attacked Felis. Candramawa was flabbergasted, then looked for Felis' ankles—hugging her tightly.
Felis immediately looked down, aware of her evil intentions. She threw the aisikla in her hand away and penetrated Candramawa's body. Take her away from the slaughterhouse.Download Novelah App
