Chapter 5 SECOND YEAR
Zero's POV
We left the room and walked down the hallway on the ground floor, with Miyuki following closely behind me.
We were planning to go up to the 2nd floor, where the first-year students’ representative was located.
As we walked along the hallway and approached the stairs, just as we were about to turn the corner, I noticed two students coming down to the ground floor.
Unexpectedly, one of them bumped into me, and I turned around, expecting an apology, but it never came.
The guy who bumped into me also turned around and gave me a nasty look, while his companion, full of arrogance, stopped beside him.
"What are you staring at? You want us to beat you up?" said the guy who bumped into me, about the same size as I am.
Miyuki came up behind me and whispered something in my ear.
"Those two are second-years, Zero," Miyuki whispered to me from behind.
I smiled to myself, thinking this was my first chance to make my presence known to the other students in this school.
"So what if I'm staring at you? Are you gonna fight me?" I said, challenging the guy who had bumped into me with an intense glare.
"Well, this jerk has some nerve—" Before he could finish his sentence, I quickly cut him off with a punch to his right jaw using my left hand, causing him to stumble backward.
The guy who bumped into me didn’t stand a chance. I noticed his companion charging at me, so I raised my hands, ready to block, but Miyuki quickly kicked him, forcing him to retreat.
While Miyuki fought with the other guy, I let the one I hit earlier get back on his feet after he took that punch to the jaw.
"You're gonna pay for that!" the guy, now seething with anger, yelled at me.
He ran at me, preparing to punch, but I noticed his right shoulder twitch, signaling that his punch would come from the right, so I dodged to the left.
I saw an opening on his right side and prepared to throw a strong punch from my left, targeting his ribs.
My punch landed hard on his right side, causing him to retreat, clutching his ribs where I had struck. I didn’t give him time to recover.
I rushed at him and delivered a left kick, striking his temple, knocking him out cold.
I turned my attention to Miyuki and her opponent, who were still trading punches.
Miyuki's POV
I was exchanging punches with this second-year guy, who was about my size, and I could tell he was tough. He could take my strong punches as if they were nothing.
I stepped back a little because I realized that despite my powerful punches, they didn’t seem to affect him much.
My hands were starting to ache from all the punching, and I noticed he wasn’t rushing in to attack. Instead, he stood there, cautiously raising his hands near his face, with only his sharp eyes visible, glaring at me.
I tried to think of a way to fight back in this situation, but my hands were starting to hurt.
It seemed like I’d have to take a gamble in this situation if I couldn’t knock him down with my fists alone.
I rushed at him with my hands up in a fighting stance, ready to move swiftly.
I threw a left jab that hit his guard, and I wound up for a right punch, twisting my waist to put power into it, but he quickly punched me in the face, faster than I could react, hitting me square in the nose, causing me to stumble backward in pain.
"Arghh!" I screamed as the sharp pain shot through my nose, adding to the soreness from the punch Zero gave me earlier.
He immediately followed up with a right kick aimed at my left knee, causing me to drop to the ground, kneeling before him.
He approached me and raised his left foot, intending to stomp my face, but I quickly grabbed his left foot with both of my hands to prevent it from landing.
I shoved his foot upward, forcing him to retreat, nearly losing his balance.
I struggled to stand, my left knee trembling from the pain, but I knew I had to fight back. Falling down now would be the worst thing to do.
Once I was back on my feet, he rushed at me again. I quickly raised my guard, but his punch slipped through, landing a hard blow to my left jaw.
I staggered backward, but he relentlessly pursued me, raining punches on my face with both fists.
I tried to figure out how to find an opening to counterattack, but my mind was clouded by the situation.
My hands were aching from blocking his punches, and I knew it was only a matter of time before they gave out. He wouldn’t hesitate to land a strong punch to my face once that happened.
I had to take a gamble because doing nothing would only lead to my defeat.
As he continued to pummel my guard, I quickly stepped back three paces, and just as I expected, he followed me.
I prepared myself for what I was about to do my trump card in this situation. When I saw him winding up for a right punch, I quickly swung my right leg, spinning to my right.
I landed a clean hit with my right ankle to the side of his face, right between his jaw and ear.
My kick hit him hard as I spun around, knocking him to the ground and leaving him unconscious.
I collapsed to the ground, exhausted and aching from the fight.
Thankfully, my gamble had paid off, and I was relieved with the outcome. If I hadn’t tried that, I might’ve been beaten to a pulp by now.
"Are you done?" I looked up at the voice, realizing it was Zero, who seemed to have been waiting for me.
Wait, had he already finished his fight with the other second-year guy? I glanced around and saw the other second-year lying unconscious nearby.
Zero walked over and extended his right hand, and without hesitation, I took it and let him pull me to my feet.
"Thanks," I said with a smile, but he just looked at me seriously and turned away.
"We should head back to the room for now. If we go to the second floor, we might run into more trouble," I said to Zero, and he immediately agreed.
The two of us returned to the room, leaving the two unconscious second-years lying on the ground.
