CHAPTER NINETEEN: A Legitimate Daughter 2

SKYLAR'S POV
We all watched in awe over Scarlett's intriguing, jaw dropping introduction.
Hurray! My baby got 'em all trippin' I was mentally singing.
Aunt Aimee was grinning from either pride or excitement beside me as she watched her foster daughter. Chairman Grey had a proud smile and look in his eyes as he looked sideways at her.
I then decided to look at her new family. Harriet was red in the face from either shock, anger or from trying to suppress her discomfort. Her daughter, the beautiful girl I'd once admired on the very day I arrived this country, shifted uncomfortably in her seat also trying to control her discomfort but wasn't seeming successful. My eyes scanned around for the boy, Imogen's twin.
The only sad part about everything that's happened so far, is the fact that my crush turned out to be the son of the woman who killed my friend's biological mother. How was I supposed to react to this one? Well, I can just stop crushing anyway. Who knows, he might not even be impressive after all.
Not long, I found him standing few steps away from the entrance, dressed in black like the rest of the family. He was wearing a neat fitted tuxedo. Seeing him from up close made me realize how gorgeous he was. The papers, magazines and TV shows did little in portraying his good looks. Now that I think of it, he looked the exact younger version of Chairman Grey.
Mehn...how am I supposed to resist this temptation of a man when I finally move in with Scarlett?
Jeez! Jeez! Focus Skylar. Focus!
I mentally slapped myself. I removed my gaze from him and focus on the media guys that were now throwing questions at my friend.
______
"Ms Grey, thank you for making out time to attend this press conference." One of the reporters began his interview. Scarlett gave a slight nod in acknowledgement, brazing her mind for what's coming next.
"Only till recently, the entire citizens of Birmingham city never knew of your existence. What's the reason behind the secret? Why did you choose your mom's death anniversary as the best time to show up in your home country? Why did the Grey's kept your identity a mystery all this while? I'm sorry, but if you ask me I'll say this seems like a total deception as about twenty two years ago, the citizens of Birmingham city mourned the famous 'fairy queen' and her new-born." Chairman Grey glanced at his daughter, wondering how she'll pull through the questions as he was the one who's supposed to be answering the press.
At this moment, Harriet_who sat in the first row of seats with her daughter, had her ears standing at attention and her big eyes bulging more than usual while her heart hammered hard against her chest. She needed to know the answers to that question; as it could be a cue to her finding answers to all the questions she's been asking herself.
How did she survived?
"Well, Mr_" She peered over his nametag. "Stone. I'll answer your questions with just a simple sentence. Some things are better left unsaid. Any further questions?" She asked briskly. The cameras flashed nonstop as the media guys continued in their struggle to outdo each other with their questions.
"At the canal some days ago, it was widely noticed how uncomfortable or rather, startled you looked when the mourning women confronted you. Can you tell the press why it seemed so? Or were you never aware of your late mother's existence?" Scarlett turned her gaze to the reporter who talked.
Amelia Mills, the name on her nametag read. She was tall, slender and really pretty.
Prying too much isn't she? Sure, reporters would always be reporters.
"Oh C'mmon Ms. Mills. Sure I learned my mom was a good and famous woman but I never expected to see the crowd of women I met mourning her at the canal. I was only startled and heavily moved by their sincere and immerse love that it brought tears to my eyes." Scarlett smartly explained and her dad nodded proudly at her. His beautiful daughter was as smart as his late wife and he felt proud, knowing that.
"You were suddenly pulled away alongside your female companion by a masked man. Can you reveal the identity of that man and why he did that?" Amelia Mills asked again, holding her recorder high as she did.
"Ain't you a funny one Ms Mills?" Scarlett chuckled softly. Her enchanting beauty making most of the male reporters ogle her shamelessly. "That was my father's aid. Sure, he did received the surprise way too well," she grinned. "But that doesn't mean he could let me get choked too soon by you know_the media, when I was only just arriving. I hope this answers your question." She said with a professional smile on.
"Of course, thanks. You seemed to have arrived this city as a tourist, why didn't you meet directly with your Dad? Or weren't you aware of your origin when you'd arrived?" The smart lady went on to ask again. Scarlett knew she was definitely on to something. She gave a lopsided smile shortly before she replied.
"It was a surprise to my dad but you reporters...well, ruined it. Being the first time of my visit to the country of my origin, of course it's only normal that I take a tour about the city. For some personal reasons, my dad and I agreed that I'll return to the country of my birth after I'm done with college. And like I said earlier, some things are better left unsaid Ms. Mills. I hope you have no further questions?"
"That'll be all at the moment Ms. Grey, thank you for your time." She said quickly, understanding the authority in Scarlett's voice when she said the words.
"Well, I do have a question Ms. Grey." Scarlett turned her direction to the black, young man who spoke. She gave a slight nod that he go on.
"Thank you. Now that you've returned, may we know what's your next plan? Are you going to follow the part of the chairman and work in this great company or are you gonna return to Australia?"
Harriet and her children of course, listened attentively. They needed to know too, what this new relation had in mind.
Scarlett smirked as she took a glance in their direction.
"Well, why don't we find out?"
_______
Moments after answering all the heart ripping questions she could, Scarlett Grey and the Chairman were escorted in the company of Aimee Brooke_her foster Mom and Skyler, her best friend towards the already waiting Limo.
Meanwhile, standing in a reasonable distance away watching the retreating vehicle, was a man in his early fifties. He tucked his hand in his pockets and smiled.
"Jamie Grey, this one is definitely a keep." He smirked.
