SCARLETT'S POV
I took the stairs up to my room and on getting there, I paused on noticing the slightly opened door. Didn't I lock the door before leaving? I mused. Shrugging slightly, I stride in and made the way straight to my bed. It's been a really long day.
Some moments later, I was smiling over the comments I saw on social media about my interview. Many people were already curious about me_how I happened to be alive, or what happened to my mother, why I didn't show up in the city all this while since I was never dead as the country had speculated. Why I didn't bother saying something concerning the rumors about my mother and her best friend, why I announced myself as a legitimate daughter...and so on.
However, it wasn't the right time to let everything out. I'm just arriving. They should watch my moves.
Picking up my purse, I retrieved mother's diary and smiled.
"Mother, we've only just started. Today went exactly as I'd planned." I smiled and caressed the diary with my thumb.
I looked around my room once more and instantly felt someone was here_not quite long from what I think. Naturally, I have this way of knowing exactly how I keep my stuff so if someone else touches it without my consent, I easily find out. Like the books on my reading desk seemed a little bit off from how I had left them. The drawers weren't tightly shut when I left it but now they were. The books in the shelve beside my vanity seem to be in another position from how I'd left them.
As I looked around, I noticed more differences and I stood up instantly.
Who was it?
A thought occurred to me that moment and I scoffed at myself.
It was the maids...durrr
I lay back on the bed and began preparing myself mentally, for my first day at work in Dad's company.

Meanwhile, Harriet had sneaked out quickly on hearing the entrance door of the manor open and had hidden at a corner between Jamie's room and Scarlett's.
Some minutes of staying still and soundless as Scarlett walked by, she finally hurried off to her room letting out a low gasp.
Ha! That was close!
Not in the least regretful that she didn't get anything helpful from Scarlett's room, she knew she didn't have to hurry as there were plenty of opportunities she'll get to check again in the future.
SCARLETT'S POV
It's a bright Monday morning, I walked into dad's office at the penthouse to see him like he had requested. He sat reclined on his chair while he talked with a younger lady.
"Hey Dad," I said with a smile, striding over to his side.
"Oh Heidi, I see you're here. That's good. I wanted you to meet Lexi."
"Lexi?" I glanced at the standing lady facing Dad and she gave me a slight bow and a pretty smile.
"Hello Ms. Grey, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise, Lexi." We shake hands and I looked back at Dad, puzzled.
"Ah, yes. Lexi here is my most trusted and most efficient private hacker." He said and I nodded acknowledgment to her and she smiled. "As you already know, the CEO's seat have been vacant for long enough and the board of directors won't let me be until that seat is occupied." Dad said and I smiled slightly, understanding where he's headed.
"I understand Dad, but don't you think it's too early for me yet? I never ran any organization before even though I studied business management." I stated, a little bit uncertain.
"I know, Heidi." He stands up from his chair and walks to me. On reaching my side, he smiled at me. "I know. Aimee and I have been preparing for this a while now and I'm sure this is best for you." He places his hands on either sides of my shoulders. "Your mother_rest her soul, I'm sure would've also wanted this for you." He sighed slightly and I nodded in agreement.
"I know, Dad. I'm trying too. But how do I start? What do I do? Also," I glanced sideways at Lexi. "How does she come in on this matter?" Dad removed his hands from my shoulders and walked back to his chair.
"Since only very few people know of what she does in this company, Lexi is going to be your Personal Assistant and undercover hacker. Of late, I find it hard to trust some personnel's and certain partners of our company, I'll be needing you to start work on that firstly. You'll be investigating secretly on some certain persons and Lexi would be supporting you on this task. If you're able to complete this task in at least a month, we'll be having an important announcement to make to the public soon." He said and I furrowed my brows, understanding what he meant.
If I'm able to complete this little task within a month from what I understand, then I'm likely to be the next CEO of JP's Enterprise. The sound of it seems like a heavy burden to bear already but this is what I must do. This is how I'll get revenge for my mother.
"You won't be disappointed, Father." I bowed my head slightly and he chuckled softly.
"Heidi, I trust you." He smiled. "You'll also be undergoing a secret training while you carry out the task given to you. I've prepared several people to help you and Finley would be leading you to them, shortly." He added.
"Thank you, Dad." I smiled.
ASHTON'S POV
I was just walking out of my office and on the way towards dad's office up the last floor with the aim of reporting the outcome of my meeting with Chairman Kwan of Song and Kwan group, when I came upon my sister_Scarlett, walking out of dad's office and down the hallway with another lady, I've not seen before.
She paused on seeing me and walked up to me with a smile_her really dazzlingly smile.
"Hey Ash," she greeted smilingly, calling my name with such ease and familiarity like we were good friends.
"Scarlett, how's your first day at the company going?" I asked smilingly. She nodded positively and smiled brightly again.
"Good. If you don't mind, when you're less busy, can you show me around the company?" She asked politely and I smiled genuinely. She was really trying to make things work out between us as siblings.
"Sure, but I have to see father and discuss over an important matter now. When I'm done, I'll seek you at your office." I said and she nodded.
"It's okay. See you around then." She smiled and walked off, the lady bowed slightly in greeting to me before walking off too.
Probably her PA. What post did father give her now?
I shrugged and walked to the door.

SCARLETT'S POV
I was in the grand office allocated to me which was once that of the former CEO, looking around and making mental notes on the many changes I'll make to the arrangement soon_as it wasn't just my style.
Someone knocked on the door and Lexi went to answer it.
I turned around in that moment just as the door opened and a redhaired woman walked in accompanied by Dad's PA, Finley and Lexi.
I stared at the new comer in puzzlement and she flashed me a smile.
"Hello, Scarlett." She said.
