Chapter 5
3rd Person Pov
Solstice felt dizzy as she awoke. She sat up, elevating her right leg, placing her palm on her forehead, and closing her eyes. She was afraid that if she stood up, she would fall down.
She waited until she felt ready to stand up.She cautiously rose up and supported herself by placing a hand on the nightstand beside her bed. She put her hands on the wall as she walked out her room. She moves her hands with every step she made.
She arrived at the kitchen, where the medicines and kit were stored. She dialed Luan's number from her phone, which was in her pocket.
Luan purposely didn't answer her call. He was no longer at home because he had to leave early for work. It was already nine o'clock in the morning, and Luan had left for work at seven o'clock.
She groaned as she placed a medicine in a little plate from the medicine kit. She would take the medicine after she had eaten. She also took a cup noodle and poured boiling water into it before covering it again to let the noodles to cook.
She put the cup noodles, as well as the medicine, on the counter. She took a thermometer out of the medicine kit and took her own temperature, it was 38 degrees Celsius. She had a fever, possibly as a result of being drenched from the rain while returning home from work yesterday.
She returned the thermometer to its proper place in the medicine kit. She returned to the counter to see if her noodles had finished cooking. She pulled out a spoon and began to eat the noodles that were already cooked.
She didn't eat all of the noodles because she doesn't have an appetite. She eats only because she has to. She drank the medicine after she finished eating the noodles.
She returned to her room and examined herself in the mirror. She appeared sickly pale. She sighed, yearning for someone to remain with her when she was unwell, and she hoped for Luan to be that someone.
She slid into her bed and wrapped a blanket around her entire body. Under the cover, she curled up like a foetus.
In that enormous house, she felt lonely. Even though Luan was there in the house, she still felt lonely. This loneliness made her feel as if she had no one, no friends, and no family.
She wished she had someone to accompany her.
While she laid in bed, alone, there was a glimmer of hope that her phone might ring because her husband was calling. She hoped he would ask her well-being. She hoped for some comforting words from him. She had hoped he would accompany her.

In his office, Luan was working on his files. He was examining at the designs that the other inventors had created. He sensed something was awry while he was at work. He looked to Solstice's desk through the glass wall, but she wasn't there. It was ten o'clock in the morning, and she was nowhere to be found.
He left his office and headed over to Solstice's desk. Her drawer was open, which he had noticed. He saw a collage of his and her pictures as he opened the drawer. "Someday I'll have a picture along with you," was written behind the photograph.
With a disgusted expression on his face, he examined the photograph. He tore the photograph and returned to his office. "How can she do such a thing," he grumbled as he headed back to his office.
“Someday I'll have a picture along with you, pfft that'll never happen, “ he sat down on his seat and leaned his back.
He examined the files on his desk and realized he had plenty. He scratched his temples, frustrated by his work. He began working on his work so that he could finish it.
As he finished his work, he returned his gaze to Solstice's desk, but she was still mia(missing in action). He gathered his belongings and rose to his feet. He walked over to his car in the parking lot. He started the car and drove back to their house.
He arrived at their home, exited the car, and proceeded to the house. Solstice was standing in front of the door with arms open when he opened it.
“Darling, hug? “ she looked at him, forcing herself to smile so he won't notice that she was sick.
He fixed his gaze on her. When she called him "darling," he didn't like it. He loved the endearment, but he didn't like it when Solstice was the one who called him.
Solstice waited for him with her arms still open. She knew it was impossible for him to hug her, but she desperately needed someone to hug, so she hoped he would.
He walked right past her, refusing to give her the hug she craved. He came to a halt when he noticed something. When he looked back, he saw her sighing with unhappiness.
He took a step behind her, noticing her pale skin. His left hand crept up to her waist, and he placed his other hand on her forehead to check her temperature.
As she felt his palm on her forehead and waist, her cheeks heated up and she blushed brightly.
As he carried her, he said, "Your fever is high." He carried her into her room and placed her on the bed carefully.
Her heart started pounding as she stared at him. She wants this, she wants to see that he cares about her, even if it's only once. She wished for time to stand still so that this moment would not fade away.
He pulled the blanket up to her shoulder and whispered, "I'll be back," before going to fetch a little basin and a damp towel. "Did you eat already?" he asked after he returned to her room.
"Not yet for this evening... "She gazed at him, mumbling.
He sighed and reached for the meal he had brought. He handed her the meal and said, "here, I thought you hadn't eaten dinner so I brought it on my way home."
“T-thank you, “ she stuttered as she sat up.
'Did he care for me now? 'a question formed in her head.
"Don't think I care about you, it's just that you're my obligation, and if something goes wrong, it'll be my fault," he said, making her happy expression turned unhappy. It was like he could hear her thoughts because of what he just said.
“Okay.. " she muttered as she began to eat the food he had brought for her. Luan went to get her medicine while she was eating.
Luan made her drink the medicine after she finished her meal. "Thank you," she responded with a smile, thanking him for taking care of her.
He picked up the damp towel and folded it into a rectangle. He urged her to lie down and placed the wet cloth on her forehead.
"Get some rest," he murmured as he began to walk away.
“Goodnight! Sleep well and sweet dreams darling! “ she smiled as he went out the room.
She was delighted that, despite his hurtful words, he still looked after her. It pains her to know that she was merely a responsibility or obligation, but she was still pleased because he was there, feeding her and making her drink her medicine.Download Novelah App
