Chapter 60 Do You Support The Idea?

Alexander POV
Staring at her slender but a little curvy figure approaching where I was standing beside the car, I fell into a trance. She was wearing casual clothes, white sneakers with her sleeves rolled up. Her blonde hair was tied into a ponytail, accentuating her fair long face. The more I looked at her, the more my heart become debilitated. 'Oh Lord, if I had committed a great crime for you to have taken Kiara away from me and sent her replica, forgive me, Lord.' I prayed bitterly in my heart as I watched her get closer. “Good morning, sir” She greeted politely as soon as she got to where I was. Nodding my head in response to her greetings, “Let's go” I notified then put forward a step, intending to turn around and sit behind the wheels. “Where are we going, sir?” She asked bluntly, I tilted my head in her direction, and to my utmost surprise, she was staring back at my face with her sharp eyes. 'This lady, what nerves does she think she has? Even Kiara never looked at me pointedly like this before. She's lucky that Granny brought her here' “You don't get to ask me questions, Miss Ava,” I said harshly, purposely calling her a name she didn't bear. Still looking up at my face, she blinked her eyes twice then pursued her lips without saying a word. Silly. I discarded my eyes from her gaze and made to walk around the car when Kiara's phone started ringing inside my chest pocket. I sighed ruefully at the possibility the caller might be her Mom again. What am I saying? The only person who calls her phone from time to time is her Mom.
Bringing out the cellphone from my pocket, I bite down on my lower lip, harder. It's her Mom. What do I do? I think It's time I quit bringing her phone everywhere. Gazing at the ringing phone in my hand, I recalled she was the one who spoke with her that day. Directly, I turned around to see her still standing in the same spot. “Hmm… You need to speak with her Mom again” My voice changed from anger to calm as I stretched forth the phone for her to collect, but she only watched my face in silence. “Please” I murmured, looking everywhere but her face and immediately, she took the phone from me. I scoffed, then went to sit inside the car, without heeding their conversation. She's crazy, isn't she? Who on earth does she think she is? I'm being easy on her only because she looks like Kiara, but if she thinks she can take advantage of that, then she's going to regret It. Shortly, she came into the car, sitting herself in the passenger seat. She didn't utter any word as she dropped the phone onto the central console. Subconsciously, I glanced at her face and noticed the fraught on her countenance. “What did she say?” I asked, coldly. With no interest in her voice, she replied, “She just wanted to hear Kiara's voice and also asked when she's s flying back to Arizona” Staring at her side face, I lowered my guard and asked, “Is that why you look worried?”
Turning her head to look at me, I was slightly stunned by the tears that had pooled into her eyes. “What if she's my real mother?” Her voice throbbed with enthusiasms as she asked this. And to be honest, I felt a little compassion toward her. I breathe out softly, shaking my head. This matter is complicated. “Granny had promised to visit the hospital where your supposed mother had adopted you, isn't it?” I asked in a gentle voice,, and she nodded vigorously. “As soon as we get a report from there, we're both flying to Arizona” I announced, and her eyes widened in shock, immediately. “What if she finds out that I'm not Kiara?” I ignited the engine, “You'll not let that happen, will you?” I retorted and she stayed silent thereafter. “Then how do we figure out she's my mother or not?” She asked after a moment, and it was my turn to stay silent. I'd driven out of the house, but still thinking about her question. “I'll think of a way,” I told her simply. “But where are we going now?” She asked again. I glanced at her, furrowing my brows, “Didn't I tell you that you don't have the right to ask me questions?” I scowled, “If you want to be with me, then you better learn how to respect my decisions” I stole a glance at her, but she was already looking out the window, murmuring to herself. “What did you say?” I asked in a domineering tone. “I said I don't want to be with you,” She said blatantly, staring at me ferociously. Instantly, the corners of my mouth were curled into a smile. Thank goodness. “Then let's inform Granny that you don't want this marriage too” I warmly suggested, “No, no. We can't do that. Please don't tell Granny anything, sir” She begged, her words were so fast and quite compelling. “But why? Why don't you want to tell Granny your mind?” I asked her, but she didn't say a word. “I'm asking you a question, Amelia” I seldom called her name. However, it was as if by default, she remained silent as she continued to look out the window. Damn! She's really driving me nuts!
After parking carefully in the designated area of the lounge, we both got off the car, striding forward. Arriving at our regular spot, Mack was already sitting there, looking down at his cellphone. As if sensing our presence, he looked up and his lips curled up in an ironic smile. “Hey, boss. You're here with your….” He uttered, deliberately pulling his last word long, making it feel uncomfortable. Sending him a cold glare, pursuing his lips, he kept shut immediately “Come on, Amelia, come have your seat” He said warmly with a jovial smile. Soon after we all settled down around the table, everything including the air around us seemed to fall into silence. “So.” Mack broke the awkward silence. Waiting for his next words, I stared at his face in silence. “The reason for my invitation is concerning your marriage, both of you” He began, looking from face to hers as if waiting for approval before he could continue. Such a jerk, what marriage is he talking about now? “Please go ahead” Her voice interrupted my thoughts. “Alexander, do you want this marriage?” Glaring at him, “You've always known my response, you fool” I scowled. Nodding his head, he looked at her, “What about you, Amelia?” Vigorously, she shook her head negatively. I scoffed, still can't believe she had turned deaf ears to my question earlier. “So the plan is this, you'll have to proceed with the marriage”
“What?” Amelia and I asked in unison. “Are you out of your mind? Then tell me your reason for this invitation when you've got no plans?” I yelled, suppressing the anger in my chest. “Will you allow me to talk?” He rolled his eyeballs. Taking two deep breaths to rein in my anger and calm myself down, I didn't say another word. “Alexander” He called, looking so serious. “You should understand I'm doing this for you, the plan might turn out unpleasant to your ears, but I'll be glad if you can at least give it a try” Mack seldom spoke, giving off the impression of seriousness. Looking at his face, I readjusted on my seat, “Let me hear you” I said in a calm voice. He nodded, “As I said before, you guys are going to have this marriage, but it will look real to the world but between you two, it's a fake marriage” My brows pressed to a tight frown, “How do you mean?” I asked him. He licked his dry lips then continued, “I wouldn't like you to hurt Granny by turning down her desire. After the marriage, you guys should put in your possible best by conveying the couple's gesture in front of everyone. By doing that, Granny would be so happy” Releasing a deep sigh and rubbing my forehead tiredly, I said, “I still can't understand where you're trying to arrive at, Mack. You're only after Granny's happiness, is that so?” Grinning, “I think I already understand where you're arriving at, Mack” She spoke, looking active and spirited. Mack nodded effectively, hinting at her to continue. “Soon after our marriage, we can just file for a divorce and put an end to the fake marriage, isn't it?” Finishing her words, Mack's eyes opened wide in disbelief. “Whoa, Amelia, you're incredible” Mack expressed, shaking hands with her. “How do you do that? How could you tell exactly what I was thinking in my mind?” He asked, his eyes beaming with satisfaction. Smiling, “I only guessed it, and it turned out my guess was right” She replied, still smiling so big. What's up with her? Does she want this marriage? “That's good dear. So, do you support the idea?” Mack asked her, inquisitively. “Definitely,” She grinned, casting a side glance at me. “How about you, Mr. Alexander? Do you support the idea?” She asked me, and their eyes peered into mine in anticipation.
