“Don't tell me you're here to pull your dirty stunt again” My anger flared in an instant, scowling directly into his eyes as he towered above me. Staring at me, his lips curved into a mischievous smirk. “Has anyone ever told you that you look cuter when you're angry?” I felt my heart make a quick movement at his words. However, I refused to be affected. “Answer my…” His domineering and husky voice interrupted my words. I held down my tongue immediately and listened to him. “I'm not here because of you. And as a matter of fact, I never expected to bump into you here” I watched his lips as he speaks with my elbows creases beneath my breasts. 'If he's not here because of me, then what's he doing here?' I thought in my mind. “I'm leaving this country” He continued, the corner of his eyes crinkled as he narrowed his eyes a bit. 'Have I heard wrong? He's leaving the country to where? And why is he telling me this? The last time I checked, Callie is his girlfriend, not me.' Suddenly, his insignificant chuckle brought me back to reality, “You should say whatever it is you have in your mind, I'll answer you. Moreover, you look more pretty with your black hair” He said cautiously in a gentle voice. Still, I held my tongue tightly, hoping he would just be precise with where he was going. He began again, “I'm sorry for all those times, I hope you can forgive me” Hearing his short sentence, my eyes widened in awe. Does he have a twin brother too? Is this his twin brother? No, I'm confused now. The jerk I used to know would never apologize.
“And I hope Callie would come around soon. When that time comes, please tell her I'm truly sorry” Looking up at his impeccable face, his eyebrows were smooth, making him look a lot less domineering. His eyes were twinkling with light while he was looking remorseful. I lowered my gaze and quickly sought what to say, but unfortunately, I had no words, so I just looked up at his face and continued to stare at him in silence. Moments later, his lips curled up in a smug smile, “I'll take my leave now. Take good care of yourself” He passed by me and walked off. “Where are you going?” The words had flown out of my mouth before I could stop myself. He slowly halted his pace, then turned around to face me. “To another part of this country. To continue my education” He answered with a carefree smile on his lips. My throat constricted that I found it so difficult to gulp. He put forward a step to where I was, “I hope to see you again in the future, Snow White” He was grinning, but the solemnity in those few words of his made my heartthrob. He lifted a hand and pulled my cheek playfully, causing the tears in my eyes to drop. It was then I realized my eyes were already swimming in tears. “Bye,” He said softly then waved at my back, “Bye sir” With that, he walked away step by step. Watching his receding figure, it felt as if my heart was breaking into a million pieces inside my chest, and it was never going to be whole again. “Now I see your variety” I wiped off the tears on my cheeks quickly then spun around. “Sorry about that, sir” My voice was hoarse, so I let out a small cough. “What a nice catch, anyway” His lips were curled up in a mocking and sarcastic smile. Secretly, I glared coldly at him then raised my head, defiantly. “He's not my boyfriend” I stated clearly, couldn't help but feel morose. “Who said he's your boyfriend?” He taunted then proceed with his pace, not after casting a contemptuous look at me. My hands clenched into fists as I watched his back. 'Can I ever deal with this man?' I muttered irresolutely to myself, drew a deep breath, then also began to walk in his direction.
Sitting patiently at the arrivals of the airport, staring into space and clutching the fabric of my baggage. It was my first time flying in a plane, but the feeling wasn't as amusing as I'd always imagined it. Without anyone telling me, the news of him leaving Texas had left me debilitated. Hearing it directly from him was even the worst. He shouldn't have told me anything, he should have just disappeared without saying any words to me. “Hey, Ava” I shut my eyes, not wanting to listen to any of his trifles now. “You should get yourself together now, she will soon be here” I barely nodded my head twice before slowly opening my eyes. I'm glad he didn't talk about him throughout the journey. Taking two deep breaths to calm myself down. I hope he lives a good life there. “Kiara!” The loud and ecstasy voice wiped me out of my reasoning. Looking in Mr. Alexander's direction beside me, he was sitting on my left-hand side. A woman was running in our direction, holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers, with a big smile on her face. “Get to act now” Mr. Alexander demanded in a low voice and we both sprang to our feet, at the same time she got close to us. Lunging on me, she pulled me to her embrace before I could even think of a reaction, weeping softly. “Oh, my child, I missed you so much” She choked on her words as she buried her face in my chest. I was moved, tears huddled in my eyes too as I stroked her brown hair down to her back. “I missed you too, mom” I expressed, stealing a glance at him at our back. He was wearing a sad expression on his majestic but cold face. Shortly, she pulled out of the embrace, holding my chin in her warm hands and staring into my eyes like I was the only fortune she has got. Giggling, I held her hands on my cheek, “Mom, aren't you going to greet Alexander at all?” Her eyes expanded at once as she swiftly spun around, “Oh my goodness, Kiara, is this Alexander?” With a soft smile touching his lips, he nodded, “Yes, aunt” He said politely. “It's a pleasure to meet you,” He inputted. Suddenly, she opened her arms widely and hugged him briefly. “You're very handsome, boy. Are you sure my daughter is the only woman in your heart? Are you sure you don't love someone else?” There was a silence. Judging from how she'd said these words, it was meant to be a joke but with the way, he'd glance at me, I can tell the words had stabbed him right where it hurt the most. “Can we start going now, mom?” She took his wrist then mine, “Of course baby, the cab is waiting outside”
Reaching inside the bedroom after her and with him behind me, my lips were partly opened at its beauty. Everywhere was looking tidy. “I made sure Hannah tidy your room before she went to the market. She should be on her way back home already” She talked to herself, lowering my baggage on the queen-size bed. I was still peeking at every corner when my gaze fell upon her portrait hung on the wall across the room. I glanced at him and caught him staring at the portrait already. Quickly, I trotted over and removed the portrait. “What happened, Kiara? Don't you like the picture again? “ She asked, I put on a cheeky smile, trailing a finger over the portrait. “Of course not, mom, it's been a while since I last saw the picture, so I just want to have a close look at it” I pronounced my words smoothly, casting a glance at his Majesty. “Oh. So, would Handsome stay here with you, or would prefer the guestroom?” “No, no, mom, he would stay in the guestroom” I replied quickly, itching my nape uneasily. Walking toward us, “Is that fine with you, Handsome?” She asked him, having a mischievous smile on her face. I bite my lower lip in anxiety, waiting for his response. “No aunt, this is not fine with me, but I have to respect her decision” I groaned inwardly, glaring at him. I had no idea what he was scheming. “So be it then, you guys are staying together” She declared, and I felt my mind explode. What? “Take a quick shower. I'll be in the kitchen” She winked at him, spun around, and dash for the door. As soon as the door opened and closes, “What's wrong with you, sir?” I queried, raising my voice. “How could you agree with her? Have you forgotten so soon? Have you forgotten this is just…” His huge palm covered my mouth, blocking all my words deep in my throat. Counting my steps backward while he counted his forward, he suddenly grabbed my waist and I felt my heart throbbed wildly as my eyes opened wide in shock
