Chapter 65 Need To Meet His Mom

Amelia's POV
Looking out from the window with my elbow on the window sill and my hand supporting my cheek. All my life, everything from the beginning, right from when I was a kid, how perfect my life was until I got two adorable sisters which caused the turn of events. Wearing a soft smile while tears gradually filled my eyes, I thank God for life and everything he'd done so far, my life may not be all sunshine and rainbows, but I give all adoration to Him for He has done so very much for me. Now, I'm living the comfortable life I have always craved, forgetting about my past completely. The only thing I'm looking forward to is finding my real mother and also Kiara, I'm confident she's alive, and she would be found soon. Arriving back in Texas after we went to visit Kiara's mom, Mr. Alexander and I got married a week after, and we've been living well and nice even though we only put on an act in Granny's presence. Even though Mr. Alexander and I sleep in the same room, nothing ever takes place between us, he would always remind me that Kiara is the only woman who dominates his heart. However, recalling what had happened last night, I felt for him so bad, he has suffered so much, restraining himself and not wanting to get involved with another woman. Sighing loudly, Kiara must be found, she shall be found.
Half an hour later, the car rolled to a stop in the parking lot. I readjusted my facial expression, put on an honorable smile, then pushed the car door open. Holding up my bag, I amounted my pace into the building, waving and greeting anyone who crossed my path. Yesterday was my first time here, so I haven't gotten familiar with the faces. After long strides in the hallway, I bent the doorknob then set my foot in the office. My eyes searched everywhere, unable to find anyone I mouthed, 'wow' I guess I came earlier. I had barely taken my seat when the door swung open after a brief knock. Wearing a bright smile, I rose to my feet upon seeing the person, “Good morning, Attorney Gabriel” I greeted warmly, lowering my head slightly. “Morning to you too, Miss Amelia” His steps got closer to my desk, “Good news, Miss. You've got a colleague” He announced, raising my head to look at him with furrowed brows, “But I thought I was the only one who was picked in my school, sir” I told him, looking confused. The smile playing around his lips only grew wider as he tugged one of his hands in his trouser pocket, “Of course dear, as a matter of fact, our law firm only accepts a student who passed the exam with distinctions, and I'm sure you're aware of that,” I nodded directly, waiting for his next words, Smiling, he tilted his head towards the door and said, “Come in,”
Immediately after his words, the door slowly opened, and I watch as a tall frame man wrapped in a business suit paced in with a polite smile rooted on his face. “Move closer” Attorney Gabriel exhorted, and he directly did as he was told. Furrowing my brows deeper, staring at his face with my jaw dropped open. His roman nose, prominent cheekbones, and thin lips… “This is Desmond, Desmond Torres. He's my nephew, and he's also here for the reading the law training, just like you. So, I hope you guys get along well” By the time Attorney Gabriel had completed his statement, my jaw had opened wide, wide enough to fit an egg into my mouth. His lips curled up into an ironic smile and said gently, “It's a pleasure to meet you again” Lowering my head to mask my awkward moment. “Again? Do you guys know each other before?” Attorney Gabriel asked, curiously. “Yes sir, we used to be course mates before I left for New York” He answered smoothly. Folding my lips, 'so he was leaving for New York on that day I saw him in the airport?' “That's great then. I'll be back shortly” Attorney Gabriel said, and with that, he walked out the door. Knowing that we were both left alone, my heart continued to pound, and I didn't seem to be able to control my own heart. “Would you lift your head now?” He said softly, putting forward a step. I gulped down, hoping I could swallow my throbbing heart. However, I shouldn't be feeling this way, I'm married now, even though it's quite oblivious to the world. Raising my head to meet his deep brown eyes, I quickly looked away. “Why is it difficult for you to look at my face? Do I have something on my face?” He asked cautiously, and much to my surprise, he reached over to sweep away a strand of hair that was on my forehead, but I dodged away in time. I lifted my left arm and tucked the loose strand of my hair behind an ear. Still, he kept his hand stretched in front of my forehead, “What are you doing, Mr. Desmond?” I asked him calmly, meeting his eyes this time. “You're married?” His voice was cold, staring at the terror in his face, I could tell his good mood was now gone. The air in the room felt quiet and empty, just like the air before a violent storm. Balling my hands to a fist, my throat constricted, seeking for the proper words, but unfortunately, I was lost for words, so I just confirmed with a nasal sound. I didn't continue to stand there as I made my escape out of the office.
“We've arrived at the grocery store, ma'am,” The driver's voice wiped me out of my deep thought. Sniffing and adjusting in the back seat, I carried my bag and got out of the car. Dallying into the grocery store, I've completely forgotten all I was supposed to purchase. Roaming in the store aimlessly with my heart filled with all sorts of mixed emotions. Water gathered in my eyes again and fell uncontrollably. I stared at the glimmering ring on my finger as tears kept circling my eyes. 'How am I supposed to tell him that the marriage is fake? How am I supposed to tell him that I don't love my husband and my husband doesn't love me either?' More tears spilled hysterically from my eyes, thinking about my supposed words. Feeling a light tap on my leg, “Mommy?” I glanced down to see a kid with a pair of big round eyes and white skin, holding my leg. Instantly, I blinked away my tears and crouched to his height. However, as soon as I squatted, a loud gasp fell out of my mouth and I had to cover my mouth with my hand for a moment. 'Oh my, this little boy looks so much like Mr. Alexander' Checking him from button to up, he must be around two years. He was looking so charming in his brown-colored heart-shaped neckline sweater. He reached out his little hand and began to wipe the trace of water on my cheeks, “Why are you crying, mommy? Forgive me, mommy. I won't leave your side again,” Tears rushed to my eyes upon hearing him utter these words, who gave birth to this prince charming? Not only he's cute, but he's also smart. Reaching out, I carried him in my arms and smiled brightly at him, “I'm sorry, dear, mommy won't cry again, I promise” His red cute little lips curled up in a pleased smile, revealing a row of his white teeth. “What's your name, dear?” I asked him tentatively, my eyes searching everywhere for his mother. 'I need to meet his mom and ask her how she'd managed to give birth to Alexander's younger version' “My name is Aiden” He replied sweetly, wrapping his little hand around my neck. My smile grew wider as I stole a peek at his cute face. Standing rooted at a spot and looking from right to left, where's her mom now? “Aiden!” I looked straight for the source of the scream, and there comes a woman, wearing a plaid dress and a pair of black high-heeled shoes, while four women dressed as an agent followed in tow. Reaching where I was standing, she snatched Aiden from me, leaving me no chance to protest. Looking around, I noticed the four agents had circled me. “How many times do I have to warn you to stop roaming, Aiden? Now, look, you scared me, you scared mommy, Aiden” Her head was lowered while her mouth was right next to her son's ear as her voice throbbed with emotions, bringing tears to my eyes too. Shortly, she lifted her head and wiped her tears with the back of her palm. But this time, my mouth and eyes had opened wide in disbelief as soon as I recognized the person. Looking at me, her mouth had hung open also as we both stared at each other in complete awe. “Kiara?” I muttered, and her eyes broadened the more.
