Chapter 67 Full of Hope Again

Alexander's POV
“I met her in a grocery store yesterday” She pronounced in a good nature mood. Abruptly, I sprang to my feet, staring at her face in disbelief. I would have supposed she was probably joking, but Amelia knows when and not to joke. Besides, she would never joke with this crucial matter. Moreover, she was looking all serious. “Yes, Mr. Alexander. And not only that, she was holding a kid” Hearing her last words, I felt a tight knot twisted in my heart. 'A child? How's that even possible? It's barely a year, how come she has a kid already?' Putting a pace forward with a soft smile on her lips, “You've got a prince charming son, Mr. Alexander” She continued in a light tone. I swallowed subconsciously, unable to access a single thing. “What do you mean?” I asked, decisively, then she put on a cheeky smile. “The kid looks just like you. Undoubtedly, he's your son” Staring into the void, forming my lips into a straight line. “This isn't making any sense. I have to meet Kiara right away. Were you able to get her contact? Was she also surprised to meet her identical? What did she tell you? Did she miss me as much as I do?” Asking a series of questions in a breath, tears gradually pooled into my eyes. 'I miss her so much, my woman'.
Biting her lip, she lowered her head and muttered, “No” I furrowed my brows, looking at her face for more words. “Kiara didn't seem to remember everything from her past” Her tone was full of despair. “What do you mean? Are you saying that Kiara didn't allow you the chance to have a proper talk with her, let alone give her contact to you?” I roared in a low, menacing voice. She raised her head, “I wasn't even affected by all that. The only thing I'm worried about is her, I kept on telling her about you, but she only shook her head, as if she has never heard of your name before” By the time she had finished her words, I felt as if I had been hit by a bolt from the blue as my heart constricted in pain. 'What does that suppose to mean? Does it mean she has moved on and wouldn't like to meet me again? No, that's impossible. Kiara and I are only made for each other' Snatching my cellphone from the sofa, I wiped off my sweaty forehead with the back of my palm as I placed a call through Mack. “About time, boss” His voice came through. “Have you found out her current location?” I asked with anticipation, my chest heaving up and down. “I'm afraid this will be a difficult task, Alexander. According to my findings in this short period of time, Kiara has gotten engaged with a wealthy Italian man whose identity isn't revealed in either way” I gulped loudly, and it seemed I've swallowed down my racing heart. “She had attained a foothold here in Texas and even overseas. She's…” “How can I reach her, Mack?” I interrupted firmly, cutting off his sentence. “That's where I was trying to get at, man. I'm sorry, but even at how distinguished you are in this state, it won't be easy to reach this woman in question. She has completely lived up beyond my expectations” I fell into a deep trance immediately, understanding all the words Mack had just said. And slowly, the cellphone slipped out of my hand and shattered into pieces on the floor. Amelia let out a loud gasp as she quickly held on to my arm and made me sit down on the nearby sofa. “What happened? What did Mack tell you over the phone?” Her voice was full of concern as she stared into my eyes for answers. Staring into space as if I was stuck in a dilemma, I couldn't pronounce a word and Amelia wouldn't stop tapping my arm, lightly.
“You're right, Amelia. Kiara has forgotten her past and according to her present life, she wouldn't be meeting someone like me ever again” I was only able to speak after a long time. “What do you mean? I met her in real life, in a grocery store at that, so why can't you meet her too?” Smiling wryly, “That was coincidental, Amelia” I paused for a moment then asked almost immediately, “When you had mentioned my name, what was her response?” Pressing her lips into a thin line, she avoided my gaze before she was able to talk, “Her tone was sharp as she said she doesn't know who you are. It really saddens” Nodding my head briefly, “How does she appear? She looks like someone of high status, isn't she?” I further raised a question calmly, peering at Amelia's face. “That's correct, sir. She even had some agent surrounding her” Pursuing my lips, it's all making sense now. Someone like her would never imagine someone like me in her life, ever again. However, it hurts. It hurts to discover that the only person you've ever loved in your whole life wouldn't be meeting you again. Crouching in front of me, Amelia slowly picked my hand, “Even if Kiara becomes the president of this country, she's still yours, and she will always remain yours alone. All we have to do now is to look for a way to meet her, I'm sure she wouldn't deny you in your face” She said in a gentle and cautious voice, looking at me meaningfully. Squeezing out a soft smile, “You don't seem to get it, Amelia, Kiara is now engaged” I let out to her what Mack had told me over the phone. Her eyes protruded in an instant while her mouth opened wide in disbelief. “What?” She murmured. “Whoa… whoa… I love this couple” Hearing Granny's voice, Amelia and I turned our heads to look at her coming from the stairs, with a bright smile on her face. Taking note of what she had meant by her joke, Amelia slowly let go of my hand then get on her feet as she smiled warmly at Granny. “Good morning, Granny” She greeted as soon as Granny got closer. Granny pecked both her cheeks, her smile growing wider and wider. “You're so beautiful, my dear” Granny praised, holding her cheek in her hand. Withdrawing my gaze from their figure, my throat tightened, recalling Mack's words from earlier. 'I think I'm not destined to be with my loved ones. My both parents left me when I was barely five years old. Although, I was still a kid then,, but I understood something was fishy when they both stopped coming home. And now, Kiara, the only woman who had managed to invade my heart when I had thought love was not for me. She left me and came back. However, there can be no more us' Feeling a gentle pat on my shoulder, I regained consciousness but was astounded by the abundance of tears that were already streaming down my cheeks. Alarmed, “What's wrong, Alexander?” Granny asked. I rose to my feet, shook my head sideways at Granny's question, then proceeded towards my room, feeling their gazes on my back.
“Yo, man!” I heard the familiar voice from my sleep. I opened my eyes to see Mack bringing out cans of beer and arranging them on the tea table in the room. “Come on, boss, let's drink. It's been a long time we had done that” He flashed me a smile as he pronounced his words. Rolling my eyeballs, I propped myself up, staring at the number of beers on the table. My gaze fell back on him, “What's the occasion, Mack?” I asked calmly, my voice was extremely hoarse. Summing up his pace toward the bed, “You should be thankful to Granny, who had forced you to get married to Amelia” He began, sitting at the extreme edge of the bed. Furrowing my brows, I asked him, “What do you mean? You and I both know the marriage is fake” He put on a cheeky smile, “Yeah, I know, right?” Shortly after, he outstretched his hand and grabbed two cans of beer, stretching forth to me. I ignored him, looking in the direction of the bathroom. “Just take it, man. I have good news” He announced, having a smug smile on his face. Staring at his face for a momentary moment, I reluctantly collected the chilled beer from him and waited for his next words. “Like I was saying, Amelia is indeed a good person. But I'll just skip that for now and get to the point” I watched as he uncapped his beer and gulped from it. “I figured a way you can meet Kiara again” A content smile expressed on his face. I didn't reply nor reacted to his words, and he looked serious immediately. “I'm damn serious, Alexander. It's an opening ceremony of one of her businesses, and I've found a way to get an invitation” He further announced and in an instant, I felt a ray of hope concealed me as my lips curled up in a light smile.
