Chapter 29: His Questions
Nick's Pov
He started walking until his driver arrived and picked him up. His mind was too occupied to talk, he knew that Fera was wealthy but he never expect this wealth. His mind couldn't stop asking who were those abductors? What was the abduction about? Why did they target Fera?
There must be a reason behind that.
He went home to his grandparents' house cause his grandfather told him to. His grandmother was waiting for him at their main door but he only kiss his grandma and went straight upstairs.
"What happened?" she asked his grandson. Nick stopped stepping up and turned to her.
"She's safe now," he answered and continued walking to his room. He went straight to his bathroom and soak himself in cold water. He took several sighs but it couldn't remove his frustration.
The image of her unconscious in his arm was frustrating him, no matter how many signs that showed that they might be in a relationship were a lie. That thought kept bothering him. It was impossible that they were together but what if they really were.
He knew that Fred knew Fera very well, which frustrates him more cause he realized that he barely know her. Aside from Fred, he knew nothing.
"Who are they?"
After he took a bath he went out.
"Nick," a voice of a female called him. He looked at his door and realized that it was Jade who had been knocking. He walked to the door and opened it.
"Hi," she awkwardly greeted him but maintained his cold expression and looked at her, waiting for her to speak what she wanted to tell.
"I just want to ask how was Fera?" That snapped him and his brows moved to the middle and cringe his forehead.
"Why do you ask?" he suspiciously asked her.
"I saw her abducted but the school gate and I saw that you followed them," she answered but he stared at her more. They'd known each other for years and he knew how spoiled she was.
"What did you do?" her face went pale as he ask him. "I heard you threatened her this afternoon before she got abducted." She stepped back out of fright but Nick got her arm.
"Nothing, I did not do anything. You know my mom would never tolerate me about it and I am not as evil as you think. I just saw you and Fera at the school gate that's why I know and I called that police immediately but the police officer found nothing. They already found it until armed in big bikes stopped them and they lost track.
"Tell them she's safe," he only said. But Jade almost dropped her jaw upon hearing his words.
"How? You saved her?"
"No, I did nothing. Now go home and never bother Fera again," he said and was about to close the door.
"You really like her," she said which stopped him from closing the door. "You are willing to protect her at all cost and even chose her over me. You are so protective of her when you know I can not harm her cause she obviously not a weakling. You know that she can harm me but you choose to protect her."
"You know that she is not a weakling, and I advise you to stay away from her not because you are harming her, we don't know what area her capabilities. Messing up with her was not too safe for you."
"Then why are siding her always? You should side with me!"
"Cause you did nothing and we know that you plot all of it. It was your fault so do not use that weak card on me. Go home." And he closed his door.
"She might be a stranger, she still got your interest." She spoke behind his door but Nick chose to walk to his computer. He sat there and search for her name on social media. He type Fairly Luzares and the site presented a famous name which was Fairly Raliya Luzares Fuentes. A daughter of a famous couple and he saw their family pictures. Fera was smiling ear to ear with her parents at her glamorous fifth birthday party and saw the necklace on her.
He knew that necklace, he reached for the necklace he was wearing. It was the only thing that he could hold on to that he was special to her. The necklace was very special to her and he have it. He kept searching until he stumbled on a website about an unsolved case. Her mother died when she was seven and after that, she had been rarely seen in any public event with his father.
All the pictures on the internet were taken in her younger days and he failed to find recent pictures of her. That was the reason that no one recognized her. The remember his cousin Ben, he once said that she looked familiar.
He went to her family's net worth and saw a jaw-dropping estimated amount and billion worth of properties.
"She a billionaire living in that kind of apartment." He realized that her parents' case was unsolved.
He went pale realizing the situation, she was hiding because her parents' killer was still around and uncaptured. She was in grave danger. Her parents' killer was up to her now. She was the last of their family since she was an only child.
He went to his father's background and saw his brother. Felipe Fuentes and saw a picture of him and his son. The man was dead too but there was no information about his son, even his name was unknown but he could see a resemblance to Fred.
He had been talking to the infamous billion heirs and heiress. He realized why they were in danger, their family was a family of dangerous lawyers, they have few losses but they usually win every case in the Supreme court. That explains Fera's sharpness when it comes to debate. They had to cross notorious people who wronged the government, they have the same field as his father.
He took a deep breath and tried to calm his mind, she had to keep everything and never mentioned anything about it to him.
He had started to doubt how close they were as friends. Why would Fera keep this to him, what was wrong with this, and did this has to be kept?
"You keep too much," he whispered while looking at her baby pictures.
"Is this why you don't trust easily? You can't afford to loosen up knowing someone might kill you out of nowhere?" he asked. And pity had started building up in his heart, he felt the pain she had been through.
"I will find whoever is behind this. I will free you from fear."
