Stay Calm

Chapter 35: Stay Calm
IN her room, she was lying on her bed while the locket was in her palm and she was admiring its beauty. She couldn't take her eyes off it and reminisce every word he had to tell. Seemed nothing like nothing could wipe her smile off her lips. From eating dinner alone to brushing her teeth, she kept thinking about it and his face while saying those words.
She got up and face her study table, in her drawer she took out her notebook and uncapped her pen.
In my darkest time, you are my light, everything seems perfect when you're in my sight. You saved me from this lonely night and I don't know, you just make everything right. You make me shine bright.
She scribed in her noted, she flipped it to the next page.
You are the only moon that stayed until noon, you are the only sun that doesn/t burn. Thank you my sun and moon.
"Arf! Arf!" she turned her head to her little puppy and smile more.
"Oh, sorry. I almost forgot you, come here." And she picked him up and then placed him on her lap. He instantly lied on there and closed his eyes while wagging his tail.
"What should I name you?" she was continuously petting him softly. "How about Kira? From Kingston and Raliya."
"Arf!" his response was a bit harsh and even let out an unimpressed noise.
"I'm sorry, it's too feminine for you, well, how about Raki?" There he wagged his tail and even turned around.
"Raki then,"
Her smile was still there until the next morning. She was walking to her door and went out. She was about to knock on his door when it flew open before her knuckles hit his door.
"Good morning," he greeted him and his eyes fell on her chest where his gift locket was. She saw him smile as he saw it.
"Morning," it was short but her smile hadn't left her lips.
"It looks good on you." He said but couldn't take his eyes away from her reddish lips, especially since it was smiling wide. "With a wide smile too." He added and chuckled as she pouted upon hearing his compliment.
"Thank you and I know right." She flashed a confident smile.
"You are let's go?" She nodded so they went to and walk to school. She was too happy to notice the weird stares of their neighbors. They passed them side to side and not a single creature spoke but once they were a few meters away. A loud buzz of bees resounded which Nick disregarded.
"Have you seen my key?" she suddenly asked.
"No lost your key?" she nodded and bit her lower lip.
"I forgot where I put it, today I used my spare key. I think it fell somewhere in my room," said she.
"You'll find it, I'm sure. Oh! I almost forgot something." He said which made her turn to him, they stopped and Nick unzipped his backpack. "Guess what."
"You forgot your homework and you'll copy mine."
"What? No! I have something for you." And he took a paper bag out and handed it to her.
"What is this?"
"Check it." His wide smile excites her to open it. She opened it and widen her eyes when she saw what it was.
"When did you buy this?" she took out the burger from the paper bag. "I miss this cheeseburger!"
"I woke early too but this just this morning." He proudly stated, "I thought that you would love this."
"I do! But you don't have to you know. We can drop by after school."
"Well, it's your birthday so." She held back her smile and raised her eyebrow.
"That was yesterday." She reminded him.
"You deserve celebration every day." She looked away to hide her smile but he has already seen it.
"Whatever,"
"You are beautiful when you smile."
"Stop it!" He only laughed at her embarrassment.
"I know." She still tried to gain her compose but his unexpected compliment hits different.
"I am reminding you so you will not forget it sometimes."
"What's with you today?" she asked in an attempt of changing the topic.
"You, you're with me so." She pinched his elbow and they laughed together.
"Enough with those sugars, Nick."
All of the sudden, his smile fell while looking behind her but before she could turn her head to look at it, he already snatched her hand and pulled her to run.
"RAN!" she was confused but she choose to listen to him and ran as fast as she can but a black van stopped in front of them. He pulled to run back but they were already surrounded.
He immediately pulled her behind him but they pointed their guns at him. He slowly raised both of her hands as a sign of forfeit.
"Take them," she heard the man in the van speak. She saw how quickly the perspiration on his forehead build up. She couldn't do anything but let them hold her and cover their eyes. Even though she knew that Fred would save her, fear had taken place in her chest and even climbed to every part of her body.
"Stay calm," she heard him whisper so took a deep breath to calm down and stop her trembling hands. She smelled those weird smells that made her feel weak.
THEN she felt very cold water hit her head and ran down her body. When she opened her eyes, she saw blinding light above her while it was dark around her.
"Fera Luzares," a low voice of a man entered her ears which made her look around.
"Where is Nick?" she asked herself silently.
"How are you related to Fairly Raliya Fuentes?" Upon hearing those words made her lips stretched into a smile.
"I don't know." Despite the fright in her system, she couldn't contain her amusement towards his lame question.
A man stepped into the light and show himself with a baseball bat. He went straight to her and smashed her leg. She winced in pain but manage to keep her smile.
"What a pity."
"You finally show yourself, Fuentes." His voice was not familiar to her but she knew it was one of his father's enemies.
"Is this a welcome party?" Her sarcasm never affected them and they even laugh at it.
"Maybe, how's your father?" Her smile instantly fell, which made the man who was talking to her show up and displayed his huge smile while his upper face was covered with a black mask.
"It would be better if you ask him directly," she bitterly retorted.
"We will waste no time, we just need your cousin Fred to send the exact amount of money here." He got his cellphone and started swiping.
"Did you see glitches?" He turned to her as she ask owing that he did find glitches but it was gone now.
"What did you do?" A threatened tone laced in his voice.
"You seemed to lose your confidence for a simple question." She felt confident now. Those glitches meant that someone hack his cellphone already.
"You're in my territory, Fuentes. You better behave or you'll pay for it."
"I just want to say that be careful, my cousin is a Fuentes." He walked out of them and she was left alone. Soon, as she expected she heard gunshots. She heard someone forcefully open the door and she was expecting Fred to show up but it was not.
"Lora?" She unbelievably spat as she saw a petite girl in a white shirt and jeans paired with black booths.
She ran to her and untied her. Fera's eyes fell on the huge gun she was holding.
"Are you okay?" she nodded but her surprised look hadn't left her face.
"You hold guns too?" She couldn't help to ask which was answered by a wide smile.
"Your father requires me to. Let's go?"
"Nick was with me." She immediately look around to find any switch but the room lightened up already before she found it and saw him sitting on the floor with open eyes and it was staring at her.
Loraly walked to him and untied him fastly. "Let's go." He was still staring at her and Fera felt awkward with his stares.
"What are you Fuentes's?"
