Chapter 36: His Warnings
She lost her tongue as she heard him ask. 'He must be heard how she answered the abductor.' She thought but was clueless about how to avoid it.
"We need to keep moving." Lora interfered and pulled Fera's wrist then they head to the door out once.
Their way has been cleared by her people, they ran to their van and drive as if nothing happened to Nick's place, at his grandparent's house. It was quiet and dark outside but he tried to catch her eyes before going down. She kept avoiding it so he went down in full dismay.
"Are you alright, miss?" Loraly asked her but she only pulled at a tight smile. She had been a Fuentes's secretary for five years and she still couldn't read a Fuentes, from her past boss to her and Fredrick. The only Fuentes that live and walk on earth.
"Fredrick wants to see me." She said and Loraly cringed her forehead as she heard it.
"He does? How did you know?" In her memory, Fera hasn't touched any cellular or gadgets since they left the place.
"I just know, my cousin would let this mess pass that quick. Prepare long patience for a long discussion." Her bored voice was suspicious to her. She only got from the abduction incident and she already behaves that way.
"Okay,"
"You find me before he finds me," Fera stated so Lora turned to her in confusion. "You're doing good. You can beat my cousin in that field. I'm sure he would sleep until he beats you."
Her held-back smile crept on her lips and a touch of glee coated her heart when she heard her compliments.
"Thank you, Fred can always beat me. He might let me this time." But deep inside, she believe that she was better than Fred.
"I don't think so." She said and got out of the van. They already reached his secret pad near Fera's apartment.
She walked to the door and knocked. While Loraly while following her silently. As he opened the door, he was not shocked to see her and she glanced at the woman behind Fera.
"Good to see your limbs are completely still." He commented before opening the door wide. Loraly felt the tension between them as she closed the door. One was in good mood, no one was smiling even a fake one. They head to his temporary office. His pad was a small house but still scream luxury. Everything you may need for a staycation was there. The house was almost painted with black and grey everywhere.
From its glass circular center table to his chandelier. She sat on his couch and didn't follow them to his room.
While in the room, Fera settle herself on the mini couch while Fred went to his mini-fridge and got cold water for her. After giving her water he cross his arm and leaned on the wall while eyeing her.
"Do I need to repeat all the warnings?"
"No." She frankly said and fixed her eyes on the dark painting on the wall.
"Do I need to elaborate more on what you need to do?"
"No,"
"Do I need to remind you of the situation?"
"No."
"What do you want?c
"I just thought that you want to see me and interrogate me after I was abducted." She spat and never leave the painting.
"I'm not stupid." Her lips stretched into a smile. As if she was amused at his response. She nodded and looked into his eyes.
"Would you believe me if I want to ask for more time?"
"I would not believe otherwise, you never change your decision still, I see."
"Just a few more times, please," I promise to face all those responsibilities...after this.
"What are your plans?" He asked but she just shook her head.
"I don't know. I honestly don't know. I don't know where to start actually. Let me figure it out first please."
"When will I bring myself to say no?" He sighed and slid both of his hands into his pocket. She stood and she was ready to go.
"This is an endless cycle, I'm telling you, we need to move soon as possible." She nodded but she truly didn't care.
"You have been keeping too much from me, Fairly. I know that there is something you are not telling me."
"I keep nothing from you, Fred."
"I hope so, never miss that time is ticking." She stopped for a moment and nodded.
"I know."
She went out and Lora stood immediately and opened the door for her. Fera got in the van and asked the driver to send her to her apartment.
"Are you sure, you're going back to your apartment, Miss?" Loraly asked her.
"What do you mean?"
"I just think that is not safe to stay there for now."
"I'll be safe, Lora." She declared and Lora didn't dare to cross her. They dropped her at her apartment and the nosy landlady waved her hand to Fera.
"Fera, dear!" The van had left and Fera didn't miss her stares at their plate number. "Hi, you got rich friends, I see." She said with a wide smile.
Fera started walking and her landlady followed her. "I've always known that you are rich, where are your family from?"
"Uhm..."
"Do you own a business? Heiress?"
"I don't think it's for you to know, Miss." She suddenly snapped and she immediately realized what she had done when she saw how her jaw fell in surprise.
"I'm sorry, I am just very tired and I badly need to rest. I'm sorry, mama Tes. Just a bad day."
"Okay," she weakly said and nodded, "do you want anything?"
"NO!"
"I understand, you need to be alone, I'll head out now." She instantly bid goodbye and Fera left there feeling guilty. She took a deep breath and entered her apartment. She didn't bother switching the lights on and went to her room but she noticed something on her couch.
She ran to the switch and turn it on.
"I'm sorry, did I scare you?"
