Confusion

Chapter 41: Confusions
Fera’s POV
A strong knock woke her up, she was hesitant upon opening the door owing that the way of knocking wasn’t familiar. But she heard Nick’s voice outside so she opened it out of curiosity.
She saw a few policemen and the confused faces of Nick. Her eyes fell on Mama Tes who was looking at her oddly and pulled Nick away from them.
“Fairly Raliya Fuentes, you are arrested for killing Mr. Ferdinand Fuentes. You have the right to remain silent-”
That was all she understood, her system went numb upon hearing his words, the rest was soundless and he saw her wrist was handcuffed. She didn’t have the chance to speak. Did I kill my father?
The question kept in her head, she could understand what was happening.
“Fera!” His voice pulled her to reality, he was trying to hold her, and stop them from arresting her. He was asking her what was going on but she had no idea too. She was panicking and confused on the inside but her face remain emotionless. She looked at him, he was the only person that could understand that look.
The whole ride was awful silent, which was killing her silently. It wasn’t long enough but she managed to calm down herself. They reached the police station and she was expecting that Lora would be there or Fred.
To her disappointment, none of them were there and she has thrown into the interrogation room. She sat on a chair and a little table in front of her, while the light was on her only.
“Now, Miss Fera. You clearly know why are you here, right?” A man with an army green jacket asked her. He was not wearing any uniform, so she was expecting that he was the detective in charge.
“No, I don’t know why I am here.” Good thing she was already calm and ready for a debate. Her tongue wouldn’t back down this time.
“Let’s just say that your trace wasn’t too clean and someone saw you and narrated what you did.” He was trying to scare her but he failed to make her even flinch.
“How sure are you that this whistleblower was telling the truth not just an attention seeker or a gold digger? I hope you are well reminded who you are talking to.” Fera retorted but her bold response annoyed that detective.
“Your words are enough to remind me you are capable of doing brutal things such as killing your parents.”
“Make sure you have your pieces of evidence to support your claim, Mr. Detective.”
“You know nothing about how much evidence. Why did you kill your father?”
“I need a word with my lawyer,”
“Now you are backing down, are you scared?”
“Why rush things? Scared?”
They exchange intense stares when someone knocks on the door. He looked away and turned to someone who was knocking. He opened the door.
“Someone wants to see her.” Fera knew that they were talking to her. She calmed down from hearing that. This must be Lora or a lawyer sent by Fred, she thought.
But once she smelled his perfume, she froze and couldn’t move. He walked to her and sat across her. She saw him with a worried expression, his soft stares were melting her.
“Are you okay?” She almost drop a tear when his voice touched her ears.
“What are you doing here?” He couldn’t be involved in that mess, all she thought. She must avoid him and drive him away. But he held her hands and looked into her eyes.
“I just know that you need me.” It was true, but Fera was hard-headed and refused to claim it.
“You must hear why I am here.”
“ Forget about it, I know you did nothing. I will help you.” She stared at him and suddenly looked down.
“Was it really you, in a black hood walking out of the village that night?” She pulled her hand away from him and nodded.
“Yes.”
“Why? I mean, why did you leave that night?” She held her palm and play with her fingers, she voided having eye contact with him again. Why? She asked herself. She started shaking her head and refuse to say a word.
“I…”
“Tell me, I need to know. You can trust me. I promise.” He attempted of holding her hand again but she moved it away.
Her intake of air was increasing due to uneasiness, he noticed it so he stood up and hug her. “It’s okay, it’s okay. Calm down, I just need to know what happened and we’ll get you out of here.”
She was holding him like she wouldn’t dare to let go. She just felt unsafe with all those questions but he was comforting her.
“What happened?” He gently asked.
“I don’t know, I don’t know.” And her tears started falling, he wiped them and hushed her.
“Okay, I understand. I’ll do anything to fix this. Calm down.” He said and someone entered the room, he stayed on her side as a man with his suitcase got inside and sat across her.
“Would you mind?” He's in his mid-thirty with a half bald head on top. He swayed his hand to the door as he was making Nick leave.
“Sure,” he answered even though he didn’t really want to. But Fera didn’t let him go. Her hand was in a strong grip on his shirt.
“Well then, you may stay.” He opened his suitcase and took out the paper with pictures printed on it. Her grip loosen as she saw the pictures, the pictures were the evidence against her. Her black hooded jacket, the footage of her walking out of the village, and the crime weapon was the handgun.
“I am Attorney Allanrick Dominggo.” He offered her a hand for a handshake and she accepted it.
“Do you remember all of this?” She slowly turned to the man across her.
“Are you my lawyer?” She asked.
“Yes,” He directly answered.
“Who sent you?”
“Mr. Fuentes. Now tell me, do you recognize all of this.” And she nodded.
“Is this yours?” He pointed to the jacket.
“Yes,”
“Is this you?” Pertaining to the girl walking.
“Yes,”
“How about this gun?”
“My Father’s.”
“I need the full detail of what happened that night. Why are you leaving that time, especially in the middle of the night.”
“ I need a word with Fred.”
“You just need to tell me what happened, rest assured I could win this case. But first, I need to hear all the information from you.” But she was blocking her emotions already.
“I need to see Fred.”
“Why are you avoiding this, no one will hear us. I can make up stories for you to win this and get out of here. But I need you to tell me the truth.” Mr. Dominggo emphasized. While Nick was awful silent and confused. Asked himself, did she do that? Was the accusation true?”
“Well, all I am asking is to see Fred first.”
“Why, are you triggered? Is this true? What happened that night when you left? Why are you out that time?”
“Shut up.”
“Did you kill him and then leave as if nothing happened?”
“ I said shut up!” She was already triggered and her tears started falling. Despite Nick’s confusion, he set that aside and held her.
“You’re pushing it too far.” He interfered.
“What is your name, kid?” He asked him.
“Nick Hernandez.” A smile crept on his lips and turned to Fera.
“Ask me, who gathered this evidence.”
