Chapter 43: His Frustration HE was driving undeniably fast, her furious face was in his head. All he saw was the road. While his hand was gripping tight the steering wheel. He couldn’t shake off words from his head. He was confused why he felt that way, he felt scared when he saw her disappointed and betray face. The guilt was eating him up. He got into Ben’s house and went to his bathroom. He washed his face with cold water multiple times. He could get enough and kept washing his face. Until he took a long breath. “She needs me, I know.” Then her cousin Fred came into his mind. He’d surely help. He thought, he saw how worried he was when she was abducted. He wiped his face and ran out to his car. But then stopped when he reached the doorway when he remembered that he didn’t know where to find him. “Holy Crap.” He saw a car approaching and saw his cousin, Ben. He walked back into the house and sat on his couch. “How did it go?” Ben asked him the moment he saw him on his couch. “I don’t know. Messed up?” He said. “Why? What happened?” “Her lawyer came and showed the all evidence against her and didn’t deny a thing.” Nick fell into thoughts as he was saying those. “Idiot, of course, she won’t deny it. You gather it yourself from her house and their guard house at her real house. All of it is related to her directly and good thing she did not deny a thing. That proves her innocence for now. We know at some part she wasn’t lying.” Ben said and went to his room. He instantly followed him. He inserted his flash drive into his computer and then opened the pictures that were taken in her apartment. It was the picture of her paintings on the wall and the pictures she has drawn on her pad paper. “What can you say?” “Dark and sorrowful,” Nick answered. “Sorrowful, yes. Possibilities that she isn’t a psycho. Because, if she was, this should be cut head, chopped body, and stabbed. She’s in pain but she wasn’t crazy and furious, she was just sorrowful.” He explained it to Nick. “Plus she wasn’t lying.” “The jury will never accept that kind of evidence.” “I know, I at least wanted to make sure my stand. I can’t lose in my first case. But you mention, her lawyer showed her the evidence.” he recalled and look at Nick. “I think he wasn’t too serious in that case, he’ll drop it. I’m sure. He was convinced that she did that.” Nick spoke and got his mouse to scroll through all the pictures he took. It was the girl with a huge drop of tear in her left eye and a broken heart tied with tears. “If Fredrick Fuentes will work on this, he could easily fix this.” “What if he won’t? What if he believe that it was Fera? We can’t just rely on him.” He suddenly snapped, his mood had been ruined since morning until now. “Just saying.” “Did you got anything else?” “Not yet,” “What? The first hearing will happen anything. Everyone has an eye on this case.” “Calm down, we weren’t trying to find a rat here? Evidence is not meant to be found easily. Could you get some sleep to ease your frustration? I can feel it, anytime from now, you might explode out of nowhere. Take a shower and cool down. We need to get this quick and that frustration won’t help us.” He took a long breath and raised both of his palms. “Okay!” Then he stormed out of his room and went straight to the other room. He dropped his back on the bed and looked at the ceiling. He suddenly reached his pocket when he felt his phone vibrating. His brows almost collide in confusion as he saw an unknown number. This must be, Fred. He couldn’t help to presume. He swiped it to answer and placed it on his ears. “Hello…” But then he heard a voice of a female. “Is this Nick Kingston Hernandez?” “Yes,” “I would like to meet you, sir. I think we have to talk about some matters.” “And what would it be, miss? I don’t remember having a business with you.” “This is about my boss, miss Fairly Raliya Fuentes.” And he sat up as soon as he heard it. “Sure, where can I find you?” “I will message you the address.” “Where are you going?” He suddenly heard Ben’s voice in the room. “What the heck, man. You creeping me out. Are you watching me?” Nick looked around to find a camera. “Of course not, but I can hear you, who was it?” “ I don’t know, Fera’s employee, maybe her secretary. I meet her before I think, it could be Lora.” “She had a secretary? At the age of sixteen?” He asked. “She had taken over when her father died, what do you expect.” After that, he went to the drawer and find something to wear. He got a white shirt and change his clothes. “Well then, take care. You are meddling in Fuentes's business. Don’t forget that the evidence was credited to you. No one claimed it even if it was stolen from you. They have reasons why they still use your name as the original owner of those.” He stopped for a second and nodded. “I know, and that was to make Fera hate me. That way, she will never accept any help from me.” “The enemy knows you well, this isn’t something we should take lightly.” He knew that Ben was right. “I still couldn’t imagine, how dangerous it is. I don’t know.” “He went out even though he hasn’t received a message. He went into a store to buy something to eat and saw news coverage. “The suspected killer of the infamous lawyer Ferdinand Fuentes was his only daughter Fairly Raliya Fuentes.” The news anchor was saying full lies and saw pictures of Fera being escorted to the police mobile. He even stated that she had been hiding in a small town of *****. He eventually lost his appetite after hearing those. So he end up buying a drink and sat at the corner to wait for her message. “I can’t believe it. She looks so fine and to hear something like this is horrifying. Indeed, we can’t judge a book by its cover.” “Why would she do such things, their family is perfect. She must be raised as a spoiled brat that could get all she want and when they could give it to her she freak out and do that.” “Yeah, she’s evil. How can she do that?” “She must be crazy, mental illness is indeed dangerous.” He felt like throwing his canned drink on their faces, they didn’t know what they were saying. He couldn’t restrain himself for more so he stood up and slam the door of the store. Good thing her message appeared on his phone before he could get in his car. He immediately drove off to the address but he suddenly slow down when he realized that there were trees on the way. He could rarely see houses. Though, it was his place he knew what place he was heading. It was a private property of he didn’t know who. Then Ben’s words rang in his head. “Lora can help me, she and Fred are my only hope to help her.” He continued driving but he took his pocket knife for safety. Soon he saw a min cabin. The windows were closed so was the door. “Get in.” He received that message. That was when things went more suspicious. “It’s close, are you in there?” He replied. He saw the windows go open and a face of a girl came into his sight. It was the fierce face of Lora. She waved and offered a weak smile. He went down and wait for her to open the door. “Hey,” she greeted him. “Oh, hi.” “Come in,” he get in and saw a cute interior design of the cabin. All of the things you need were there in the small version. Everything was wooden made, there was a mini table and two mini chairs. Up stair was the bed and he was standing in a mix, of living room and kitchen. “I’m glad you didn’t hesitate to come.” He heard her close the door. He faced him but a black dot greeted him. The black hole at the end of the gun. He immediately raised both hands as a sign of surrender. “Wait, what is this?” “Don’t act dumb, Hernandez! I know it was you, you’re the whistleblower, aren’t you?” Her smile has faded and turned into a furious look. She was pointing her gun strongly. “No, of course not! I am in fact here expecting you to work with me to help her.” “Liar! You investigated her, it was your gathered evidence! YOU SET HER UP! What are you up to? What did my boss do to you? You don’t know how much pain she had been through!” Her anger was uncontrollable, her hand was shaking and her eyes turned red. “No, Lora that was stolen from me. I didn’t report her.” He was already pleading to listen to him. “Why do you have those in the FIRST PLACE?” She could calm her voice. “Don’t fool me, Hernandez. Your grandfather was accusing Mr. Fuentes before as responsible for your parents’ death. Your grandfather was his greatest rival in the law industry.” “I didn’t know about this. I promise, I was trying to help her find justice for her parents but I end up finding those. So I kept it because I know she can never do that, then someone broke into my house and stole it. I wasn’t doing anything against her.” “What are you up to? Why do you want to help? I don’t believe you. You want to ruin her. You can’t just barge off that you want to help on my face without deep reasons.” “I love her.”
