Chapter 44: The Trio
They stopped for a few seconds and, “HA! HAHAHAHAHA. You what? Love her? Can you even hear what you are saying, young man?” Her sarcastic remark made him feel insulted.
“I know what I am saying. I don’t care if you believe me or not.”
“Well, then keep your heart out of this ‘cause she doesn’t need that. What she needs is only peace of mind not a war of love. If this is a love story, this is where you broke her heart for betraying her.” And she even pushed his chest using her pointing finger.
“You’re not getting the point! I was investigating to help her, I’ve seen her cry and wrecked. I know it was because of her past so I thought I could help her by giving justice to her parent's death. But then this happened, I got all those pieces of evidence easily and it was stolen from me, now they are using it against her with my name on it.” Her eyes were staring at his while he was explaining, making sure he wasn’t lying. She put her gun down and looked down.

“You’re not the whistleblower?” She asked for more assurance.
“The hell! I’m not.” He raised his voice in frustration.
“Okay, calm down! Who would ruin, Fera?”
“That’s the question here! Maybe someone who wants her company?” He nonchalantly said and sat down at the nearest chair he saw.
“She’s stepping down and everybody knows that.”
“She was abducted twice, and I heard it was about her father’s debt. You may know who they are. I honestly don’t know where to start now. Before I was having lead but now, I feel like I don’t know a thing of what is happening.”
“The dept wasn’t just about money, they also lost connection so they have been losing money and they were blaming her father for all of it.” She crossed her arm and think. No one knew Fera was here, I made sure to cover her trace, this should be someone closer were missing. They set you up right? That built the whole scene.”
“Who are they?”
“They are not into this, they are the drug dealer which is only interested in money unless they need to eliminate someone. If they would ruin Fera, all her money would only fall on Fred. And they know how dangerous Fred is to cross. They would rather keep Fera and use her.”
“We should not talk about that here. And you need to meet my cousin, Ben. He can help us.” He stood and went to the door but he noticed that she wasn’t moving. He turned around and raised his brows while looking at her,
“How can I make sure that I can trust you?”
“I trusted you and drive all the way here just to get pointed by a handgun. And as if we have much time for killing you.” She sighed in annoyance and followed him. She into his car and stopped when she suddenly noticed what was in his neck’
“What is that?” She pointed to it.
“Her necklace, she gave it to me as a birthday gift.”
That left her speechless, it was enough evidence that he was telling the truth. Something was going on between them and he was desperate to help her out. She never removed that necklace and she treasured it more than her life.
“What kind of place is this?” She asked when they stopped in front of a house.
“My cousin’s apartment.”
“You gotta be kidding, this is damn a haunted house.” She shamelessly commented. That house was an old type house and it was indeed old. It was a wooden house and some parts were damaged.
“Don’t say that, he can hear you.” He said which crept her out.
“Why does your cousin a ghost?”
He wasn’t joking, Ben had surveillance cameras almost everywhere around his house. She ran to him and walked close. As they entered the house she tried her best to hide her amusement. On the inside, it was dim but enough to see the amazing place. She saw a different type of robot and everything was high-tech.
He had a chair that would serve all your needs, there was a table at the center with a hologram above it. It was a hologram of a village.
“I thought he was a lawyer.” She whispered but the door suddenly opened.
“You thought what?” He was in his pajama and a coffee in his hand. His messy hair showed that he was just woken up. “No one mentioned that I am a lawyer, Miss. How did you know?” Ben walked down the stairs and went to his kitchen.
“ I just know.”
“I thought you are a secret agent, Loraly. But you are a secretary.” She glared at him and balled her fist.
“Watched your mouth young man.” She warned him and she stepped back.
“You watch your mouth woman, you’re in y territory.”
“Hey! Calm down, set your issues aside for now. We need to move fast.” Nick stepped in but their glare at each other never ends.
“She just said my house is creepy. How do you expect me to react? Should I thank her?”
“Immature.” Hearing her say that made him drop his mag in his sink. While Nick only scratched his neck.
“We don’t need her. Drive her home.” Ben declared which made her cross her arms.
“I don’t need you to and I can go home alone.”
“Then get out.”
“Sure.” She turned her back and Nick closed the door preventing her to get out.
“Guys, she needs us here. We can work together for now and solve your issues after this.”
“Not a problem, say sorry.” Ben teased her but she only looked at her with her fierce expression.
“Sorry.” He wasn’t expecting her to give in that quick. He opened his mouth to demand more but Nick raised his hand.
“Okay. Let’s get this work started.” He said before Ben could piss her more. Ben walked back to his room and Nick followed him. While Lora was left not knowing what to do. She carefully walked to the table and was about to touch the hologram.
“Don’t touch anything.” She almost jumped when she heard his voice near her ears where a speaker was. She only rolled her eyes and walk to the room too.
“What the hell!”
