Chapter 29 Late night thoughts
Furrowing my eyebrows, I looked at the box as Louisa placed it on the ground. I sniffed to check who it was but whoever gave this was smart enough not to leave any scent.
Great. What a mysterious creature to have me guess.
“Oooh, a secret admirer?” Gusev interjected, grabbing the piece of paper that fell off the box.
“Our Alpha sure is beautiful to have admirers all over the world,” Karleen commented, proud of her alpha.
Gusev cleared his throat, “Dear Kamilah, I hope you find this useful. I hope to see you wearing this soon-”
Gusev started to read it but I grabbed the letter from his hand.
“Louisa, throw it away,” I ordered and Louisa, Gusev, and even Karleen gasped.
“Awe, that’s such a waste! Why would you throw it?” Asked Louisa disappointedly.
“Yeah, why? How about giving it to me then?” Gusev suggested that I hit his right ribs, making him yelp in pain.
“Ouch, alpha!” I ignored his pleas and just looked at Karleen.
“How about hiding it? So you can track who that admirer is, alpha.” Karleen suggested.
I rolled my eyes to their complaints, “Fine, do what you want with it for all I care.”
At this, Louisa smirked and left to take care of the gift.
But she only returned with a lot more gifts in her hand.
“What’s that again?” I asked, confused.
Sweat was on her forehead, tired from running back and forth, “The whole living room of your house was filled with gifts.”
My eyes widened and instantly ran to see it. Boxes over boxes were there, filling the whole space of my living room. I gritted my teeth, annoyed that I will have trouble stepping in. “I swear whoever gave that will get punished. We don’t have a place to store it. Just throw all of it.”
“But-“
“No buts.” I firmly said, making sure she understood what I meant.
Whoever gave that will surely be dead. Did he think that my house is some mailbox to give gifts to!
“Oh! We should do some ‘unboxing videos’! I watched some humans do that on their tiny little phones in an app.” Gusev cheekily said, finding this interesting. I gave him a death glare and left the house, planning on being productive for the day.
“Can I come?” Gusev asked, “I’ll be a good company I promise.”
“No.” I firmly replied, “Just seeing you now just destroys my day.
He pouted at my comment and silently followed me. I sighed, not having any choice but to let him. I started to train the pups for the day, overseeing the school for werewolves that I built just around my territory and managed my business.
I messaged my temples, tired and relaxed back in my office. I situated myself on my sofa, relaxing. I'm too tired to even go to my room, so I’ll just stay here for now.
“Want me to give you a massage?” Gusev offered, still standing by my side and not leaving me.
“No thank you.”
He didn’t even listen to my answer as he came to his feet and softly put his hands on my temples. He started doing some circular motion
“I thought an Alpha queen like you won’t get tired.” He commented, his touch now relaxing me.
I looked at him, pretending that he was not even that talented at this. Wow, who knew this vampire could even massage?
“No, it should be you who’s tired, how come you still got some energy messing me?”
“I’m a vampire, remember? I don’t sleep, I don’t get tired. I only get bored with life.” That was all his answer.
He continued on until I slowly closed my eyes and did not notice how I fell asleep in my office.
But when I woke up, I was in my room already. The clock said it was already midnight meaning, I slept for five hours... Goodness, have I become so old that I easily get tired these days?
I stared blankly at the wall, trying to regain my consciousness and wake myself up.
Just then, a dark figure was by the window, seemingly staring at me. It opened the window and I instantly stood up.
“Who’s there?” I called out. Judging by the smell, I didn’t have to feign innocence as I saw Alpha Magnus’s dark eyes, staring right back at me.
Disgust, irritation, and furry instantly clouded my mind and I growled, “What are you doing here?”
He instantly wrapped his hands around me, not even the slightest affected by my hatred for him,
“I missed you...Kamilah.”
“Get your filthy hands off me!” I yelled, mind linking Almiro and Louisa but he was quick to stop me.
He grabbed my chin and made me look at him, “How have you been doing all these years? Did you eat well?”
“Thanks for the concern, but I don’t see you as part of my life now.” I snarled, keeping off my distance from him.
He sighed, “Why are you so hard on me? Come on, we can talk things out. Don’t it drain your energy every time you see me?”
It does. It drains me seeing him…so much that I want to leave this place again.
“I’ll make sure that you won't even step foot here. You’re in my territory, you’re disrespecting me every time you invade my space.” I said firmly and his eyes flashed sadness.
“I apologize, but I just miss you. My eyes always craved for you. How could I gain your trust back?”
“You can’t, not anymore, Alpha Magnus, now leave.” I pointed at the door, “And I’ll put thorns in my window so you won’t get in next time.”
He held my hand, looking at it, “Don't let Gusev touch you. I’ll surely give you a pet that will bite off his hands whenever he touches you.”
I raised my eyebrows, ohh….he must have seen earlier how Gusev massaged my temples, “Why? Are you jealous that he could touch me?” I taunted.
His expression darkened and he clenched his jaw. Just hearing those made him irritated.
But then he quickly grabbed my neck and I felt his sharp fangs on it. I was stunned, but I felt him drinking my blood. I’m suddenly reminded of that night…. when I saw him with a woman. My heart clenched, feeling that those past emotions I tried to bury had been making their way back to me.
He then released me and panic was on his face, seeing my expression, “I apologize, I was too thirsty and smelled your blood…”
As always, he’s giving me mixed signals. He’s a walking red flag. I learned these terms from humans.
I tapped my foot on the ground, glaring at him unamusedly, “Are you done?”
“Can we talk about what happened that night?” He questioned me, and I shook my head.
“There is nothing to talk about, Magnus.”
He nodded, “I see, Then I won't stop bothering you until you let me talk to you. Starting now, I’ll be persistent that you can’t even push me away.” He said, his eyes filled with so much passion and seriousness but I knew it all better.
“You may push me all you want but I’ll not risk losing this chance and losing you for another 150 years again. I waited enough, Kamilah.”
Just then, the door opened and a concerned-looking Louisa came, “Master!”
We both turned our heads off and Louisa gulped at the sight, “Did I interrupt something?”
“Yes,” Alpha Magnus replied.
“No, you were late,” I said to her strictly, annoyed how she got here so late. My hands reached my neck and covered the bite that Alpha Magnus gave to me.
A panting Dimtri, Alpha Magnus Beta instantly came and leaned by the door, “Alpha! Goodness, I knew you would be here! You’re late for your meeting!”
He caught sight of me and his lips instantly broke into a grin, “Oh, it's good to see you again, Kamilah.”
I just looked at him, and motioned for Alpha Magnus beside me, “Get your alpha out of my pack, Dimitri.”
He rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled nervously, “I’ll assure you that my alpha just seemed to…lose his way…I’ll make sure he won’t wander around aimlessly next time.”
He then looked at Alpha Magnus and mumbled, “Why do I even serve an alpha like him?”
“I can perfectly hear what you said about me, Dimitri.” Alpha Magnus said and gave one last look at me. “Remember what I said, Kamilah.” He then turned to his beta, “Let’s go.”
They started to walk away, but not Dimitri looked back again and smiled at me. Louisa, beside me, nudged me in the arm, “So you’re getting close with Alpha Magnus?”
“Shut up, brief me what’s my schedule for tomorrow,” I ordered, but Louisa was still looking at the retreating figure of Dimitri and Alpha Magnus.
“So Alpha Magnus beta’s name is…Dimitri?” She asked dreamily, “He’s handsome.”
I looked at her, quite shocked. No, it seemed that even Louisa would fall on their track. Goodness, Dimitri, what made my betta eat that she’s staring at you like this?
“Should I ask for his number next time?” She asked me and I shook my head.
“Focus, Louisa, there are more werewolf men out there, more suitable for you,” I answered and she pouted. Download Novelah App
