Chapter 38 Lost in the Rhythm

“Tequila please,” I requested the bartender and as soon as he gave it to me, Alpha Magnus grabbed it from me and sniffed it before passing it on to me.
I raised my eyebrows, “Why?”
“I check it for any poison…” He whispered and I sighed.
“Come on, relax. I trust this bar in town here.” I said, sipping on my drink. We don’t even get drunk, but I love the taste and smell of the drinks. It’s intoxicating and tickles my brain.
“You’ll never know when Druscilla might come. We must be relaxed but not too much, we still need to be on our paws.”
“I dare him to,” I said, gritting my teeth at the thought. Alpha Magnus then finally gave in and drank with me, ordering a whiskey for himself.
Before me, Louisa, and Almiro managed to build my pack, I happened to be traveling around, from the sands of Saudi Arabia to the Eiffel tower in Paris, to the polar bears in the North Pole, and to the hidden outskirts of Afghanistan.
I almost went everywhere in a whole two years until I finally got tired and decided to rest out here in Springfield.
I stood up, starting to dance as the sound of loud music boomed in the background, losing me in the beat. The taste of tequila on my lips stayed and it made my world a bit hazy but exciting.  I didn't even mind the stared I got from Alpha Magnus as I got here to let loose, not to impress or think about his opinions.
Alpha Magnus stood up, ‘I’ll go to the comfort room.”
He informed me and I just nodded.
Left alone, I continued on my own and heard someone calling me. “Hey, beautiful.”
Said a human in front of me, earning my attention. Judging from the slight accent he had, I’m guessing he came from Russia. I offered a small smile and continued drinking, getting used to being flirted on. Hmm. I’m over a hundred years old now but these cute little humans still hit on me.
I smirked, of course, men are weak against beautiful women.
“Let me buy you a drink.” The guy offered as if I’m not rich enough to afford one. I’m sure that I could even buy this whole guy’s life, and my inner feminism wanted to fight back but I fought the urge.
Instead, I nodded. “Go ahead.” The stranger then smiled and sat beside me, eyeing me with a hungry stare. He surely has his looks, but he’s obviously a womanizer.

The man then cleared his throat and offered his hand, “I’m Lukas, by the way.”

“I’m Rose.” I lied, not wanting to reveal my identity.

“What a beautiful name for a beautiful woman like you.” I grimaced at that, hearing that overused line a million times now. Can’t they be creative and think of another pickup line? Men really have the same brain cells.

The man, I mean Lukas, then inched closer, starting to make his move. “So…you alone?”
 I just shrugged.
“Well then, let me accompany you throughout the night.” He decided to let me sit at the stool and have a nice little chat to ‘get to know me’, except for him talking about mostly himself.
It was quite boring as I knew exactly the reason why the man came to me in the first place. He wanted what every man would want from me….it’s my beautiful body.
“So? What about you?” He asked.
I raised my eyebrows, “What about me?”
His eyes trailed down on my lips, “You can tell me anything about yourself.”
“Well, I don’t really like talking about myself.” I answered honestly.”
His dark brown eyes stared directly at me, as if trying to read my expression and he seemed to sense that I’m not in the mood to open up so he stood up, “The night is getting livelier now, how about a dance?” Lukas offered his hands to my, waiting for my response.
I ran my hand through my dress that fell on my knees and accepted his offer. “Sure.”
The beat changed into something livelier and got louder for me to hear, enough to distract my wild thoughts.

I followed my body’s rhythm to the dance floor and before I knew it, Lukas directed me to the center. Everyone was cheering for me, and Ian came to whisper to my ears, “Everyone’s staring at you.”
I smirked at that, not needing him to inform me about that fact, “Good, I’m glad I got their attention.”

“Whoa!”

“Get those moves!”

“Damn woman!”

Different cheers came from different people who were looking at me. I swayed my hips sexily and grabbed my hair. This night is made just for me. So I owned it.

Instantly, Lukas then grabbed my thighs and followed my moves. The people cheered even more and they continued, his hands trailing on my stomach and before they could land on my breasts, I instantly pushed him away.

“What the-“

“Don’t touch me!” I yelled and the crowd went silent.

Lukas scoffed, “Why are you acting like it's my fault bitch? Things we’re just getting good. You were asking for it with that dress.”
I gasped at what he said. The nerve! Give a man a chance and he acts like it was you who followed him. Really, they need to realize that things don’t revolve around them. My hands instantly slammed on his face, earning a slap. The man glared at me, not expecting it.

“Be grateful that I don’t hit a woman.” He snarled, gritting his teeth.
But I am not just a woman. I am an Alpha.
I wanted to say that in the heat of the moment but I stopped myself.
“Oh yeah? What a sexist comment. If you’re up for a fight, I’m on.”  Instantly, I felt strong hands slide on my waist, grabbing me and I felt my nape getting tickled as the breath of the stranger hit it.
“That is enough.” Said the stranger who grabbed me from behind to the man, his tone getting with malice. My heart stopped beating for a second, biting my lip. It was Alpha Magnus. Tension suddenly filled the room, and his intimidating aura oozes, scaring almost everyone.
“I was just gone to take care of some matter and you’re making some mess here, baby.” He said to me, his tone was filled with so much anger, glaring at the man in front of us.
“Who are you? This hoe’s mine, dude. Back off.” Lukas replied, wanting to fight back. A few men came behind him, and I’m judging it’s his friends.
Alpha Magnus arched his eyebrows as if what Lukas said had triggered him, “Oh, she’s mine. So back off before you’ll lose teeth, bastard.”
I glared at him, “I’m not yours.”
Lukas scoffed, mocking Alpha Magnus. “Oh? So you’re just some assuming guy then. Know your place, dude.”
“It’s you who should know your place.” His husky voice thundered, “And you’re a stranger she just met at the bar. I had her, while you are still here trying.” He retorted. “So who’s the real winner here?”
Lukas gritted his teeth, glancing at me, and spat on the floor before silently walking away, “My father will hear about this.”
“And? Who’s your father?”
“Druscilla, know him?” He blurted out, and I sniffed the air, wondering why I didn’t sense that he was a werewolf too. If he was able to mask his scent like this, he must be that strong…or they came up with some weird innovation to hide their werewolf scent.
Alpha Magnus groaned, hissing at Lukas, and looking at me, and we exchanged glances.
“What? What did you say?”  Alpha Magnus said, instantly in a defensive stance and instantly mind-linked his pack. I also did the same, asking how are Almiro and Louisa doing at my pack.
‘Prepare yourselves, Druscilla is starting now.’ I said to them but didn’t receive any reply from them.
I gritted my teeth, trying to remain calm. I wanted to sprint right then and there and see what is happening in my pack, but Lukas, Druscilla’s child here is right in front of us. A chance to kill him..
He smirked, “Silly Alpha Kamilah. You keep enjoying life here, with Alpha Magnus protecting you here, don’t you fear what will happen to your pack now?” He then paced around and whispered in my ear, “You’re in terrible danger. You must scam off to your pack before it’s too late.”
“You bastard!” My lips were shaking in so much anger that I pushed him so hard that he immediately hit the wall. Everyone saw the scene and yelled, and humans began to scatter off.
Lukas laughed, blood everywhere and he growled, yelling orders to his men to catch us.
I wanted to beat him to death, have my own hand wrap around his head, cut it off, and gift it to Druscilla but Alpha Magnus grabbed me and started running away from the bar.
“We caused unnecessary trouble here, let’s go back to your pack. Druscilla must have planned to divert you today and touch your pack.”
He didn’t have to tell me that, but the thought itself scares and angers me so much that my wolf inside wants to shapeshift. I waited until we reach the woods and in my territory before shapeshifting, and sniffing the air to have some news.
But all I could smell was the fire from my pack's direction..
