Chapter 41 Temporary Shelter

I looked at it, remembering that I was bitten by the tri-blood earlier. It was pretty deep, I admit.
But then my healing abilities should have taken care of it. “It should be healing by now..” I trailed off.
He clicked his tongue, looking angry at the thought of me hurting.  “It must be because of the tri-blood’s fangs. We need to treat that as soon as possible before it spreads in your system.”
I gulped, “If not?”
“Haven’t you heard of the Tri-blood’s legend? our saliva is poisonous enough to get someone paralyzed.”
I sighed,  “I really thought they’re only legends.”
“I thought too. But didn’t the humans think that we are only legends too?”
He immediately led me inside the cave where an old man was waiting. The inside of the cave looked very messed up and had some ancient items. It looked like the mage was living here on his own. He was wearing a long robe that slid on the floor and his beard almost reached the floor by how long it was.  He carried a long wooden staff to assist him in walking.

“Alpha Magnus!” He exclaimed in happiness and Magnus put his hands on his lips to silence him.
“Oh haha, I apologize. I already prepared everything.” He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and looked at Alpha Kamilah’s wound.
“Treat her wound.” Alpha Magnus ordered.
I raised my eyebrows, “Who is this?”
“He’s a mage. Don’t worry, he’s my most trusted one.” He assured me.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Alpha Queen Kamilah. I am Zefren, a mage.” He introduced himself and I silently nod.
“Please take a seat and don’t mind me..I’ll heal your arm.” I did as he told and sat down. He then grabbed my arm and touched it.
I glanced at Alpha Magnus who was standing beside me.
He gasped. “It’s a poison that is spreading quickly to your body! It also contains a spell to track you.”
He then whispered some incantations and closed his eyes. A bright golden light came and he put it on my arms but a flashing light came out from my body.
He blinked and looked at me curiously.
“What is that?” Asked Alpha Magnus impatiently.
“Let me try again.” He then cast some spells, this time the light was much stronger than it blinded me but then as if a strong magnetic field stopped him, his spell fired back to him and he was pushed harshly against the wall.
The mage Zefren looked at me with a scared look.
“Tell me what is happening, mage,” I demanded, feeling a bit nervous at this.
“It-it’s the first time that I met someone rejecting my magic….” He trailed off. “Y-you’re body is rejecting my powers.”
“What? What does that mean?” I asked.
“I-I’m sorry but I can’t heal you like this.”
“What? I think he’s a trusted one.”
“Zefren. You know that one mistake and I’ll kill you.”
“Yes, master! But I really couldn’t. Please give me a second. There must be a way!”
He instantly ran inside to get his books and I was left with Alpha Magnus. I awkwardly cleared my throat but grimaced when I felt the sharp pain spreading all over my arm.
Alpha Magnus instantly noticed my discomfort,  “Are you alright?” He hesitated on running his hands on my shoulders to comfort me but decided against it.
Zefren was running and pacing around for books, still searching. “No…noo…ooohhh this one! Aha! I need a vampire’s blood!”
We both looked at him.
“I have some. I am a hybrid after all.” Alpha Magnus offered.
Zefren gasped, whispering to him, “Oh…master does she know about…”
Magnus nodded, speaking very loudly for me to hear, “Yes Zefren, she knows I am a hybrid…but that’s not the point now.”
Zefren gulped, “Ohh..right…but I appreciate your offer master. What I need is the blood of a pure vampire….”
Just then, I could smell the sudden change of air and Magnus also noticed it. He glanced at the small opening from the entrance of the cave and instantly grabbed the person outside.

“Magnus! I really won’t forgive you! You left me there! They almost got my head! Yikes, that tri-blood almost got me!”
I blinked, as there, in all his noisy mouth, is Gusev the vampire.
“You found us? How?” I asked.
He smirked, “Well, thanks to my extraordinary nose.”
Magnus instantly lunged at him, grabbing his throat, “You followed us here and someone might have followed you too!”
Gusev raised his hand in surrender, “Yes but I managed to lose them.”
Alpha Magnus’s throat clenched, “Are you sure about that? If not, I’ll be the one aiming for your neck, Gusev.”
Gusev looked at me with a pout, as if a little boy complaining to his mother. “Kamilah, he’s threatening me again!”
I just put my hand on his face, “Na uh. You put yourself in danger, Gusev. You shouldn’t have come to my packhouse in the first place.”
“Alright! It’s my fault! But at least I get to be with you now in this cave.” He raised his eyebrows playfully, and Magnus growled angrily from beside him.
“Back off, Gusev.”
Just then, Zefren came in between them and grabbed Gusev’s hands, “Aha! This one is a vampire. Come little one, let me draw some blood!”
Gusev looked at us with a confused look, “Wait, who is this lunatic? Magnus, help me. I thought I’m the one who should be drawing blood here but eww oldie, your blood stinks! I’m a vampire with class!” He rambled on and on, struggling as Zefren the mage got his blood.
“Magnus!”  Gusev yelled in despair and we only watched him get his blood taken, Zefren was happy now and Gusev lay down dramatically as if he lost his whole blood.
Zefren then looked at me, “Now let me go again and heal you.”
Zefren then looked at me, “Now let me go again and heal you.”
As Zefren tried again, my eyes drooped and the last thing I could see was Magnus's panicked face and calling my name out.
“Kamilah!”
