Chapter 42 A great escape

“Kamilah!”
“Wakey wakey.”
I felt something ticklish on my nose and I scrunch my nose and sneezed, feeling that there was a feather tickling my nose.
My eyes flickered open and saw a very closed-up face of Gusev.
“Hi, baby doll.”
My hands instantly came up and hit his face as a defense and he yelped in pain.
“Goodness. Waking up seeing your face for two consecutive days is irritating.” I commented, rubbing my eyes to wake myself up. I looked around and saw I was still in the cave. I saw the mage sleeping and Gusev was beside me.
“Goodness. Waking up seeing your face for two consecutive days is irritating.” I commented, rubbing my eyes to wake myself up. I looked around and saw I was still in the cave. I saw the mage sleeping and Gusev was beside me.
“Why do you keep hitting me whenever you see me?” He asked, grabbing his face.
“Why not?” I asked back.
He smirked, “I would mind seeing your face every morning by my side for the rest of my life.”
I rolled my eyes, seeing he was being weird again. “Eww.”
He’s really doing it on purpose to irritate me more. He really likes to get on my nerves.
I put my feet on the floor and tried to stand up but fell, and Gusev stood up for support.
“Careful, you just woke up five hours ago. The poison got to you but your blood as alpha is strong. This is just the after effects, don't worry.” He said and tried to sit me down.
“Oh, and thank me.”
“Why?”
He shrugged, pointing at his veins, “For my blood. Without my blood, the poison would have taken over you and paralyzed you.”
I sighed, oh right. I could remember that. “Yeah yeah. Thanks.”
He leaned in and pouted his lips, “Then give me a kiss.”
I just blocked his lips with my hand and asked, “Where's Magnus?”
“You’re awake.” Instantly, Alpha Magnus came with a bottle of water for me to drink and I downed it.
“You’re awake.” Instantly, Alpha Magnus came with a bottle of water for me to drink and I downed it.
I took a second to look at him. He was all dressed up and prepared.
“Where are you going?” I asked
He sighed, “Druscilla. He somehow found out I am a hybrid and planned to overtake my pack knowing I was gone. I have to be there. I am going to contact my beta.”
He gave a look to Gusev, “Give us some space.”
“What if I won’t?” Gusev teased and Alpha Magnus just gave him a cold stare enough for him to shut up and leave them alone.
I furrowed my eyebrows, wow. So if they go to Dimitri, they would know they are in my pack. And if they did,  my pack will be the one who’s most affected by this.  “But you said it’s dangerous. And I’m surprised they only found it out now.”
“Well, thanks to Zefren. He was the one who managed to mask my blood’s scent into a full-blooded one.” He responded. Really, this discriminating world doesn’t just balance the weak from the powerful. As if the hierarchy of power is not enough, the hybrids, tri-bloods, and all are treated like slaves and lowest of status, lower even than the omegas. They could easily be discarded.
And with Alpha Magnus’s power who masked his identity, this might have angered even our neighboring packs from other regions.
“Ohh..so that’s why I never noticed it too..”
He nodded and took a peek at the small opening from the entrance, “I have to get going now. Gusev, guard her.” Gusev instantly appeared.
I instantly stood up, “Why are you treating me like a kid? I am an adult, an alpha woman. We both know I am stronger than you.” I defied,  “I’ll come with you.”
I instantly stood up, “Why are you treating me like a kid? I am an adult, an alpha woman. We both know I am stronger than you.” I defied,  “I’ll come with you.”
He shook his head, caging me on the wall. “No. You just recovered from that tri-blood’s poison. That is why I am going alone. Your precious, Alpha Kamilah. Once they get you, they’ll win. But with me, they can easily discard me. I am just a mere hybrid after all.”
I gritted my teeth, “Really? Or are you just scared that once they get me, you’ll lose your mate?”
“That too…” He admitted.
I sighed, “Then there is no point arguing now. Let’s fight together.”
I chuckled, “This is funny. One alpha chased because he’s a hybrid. One alpha chased because she's a woman and violated fate. How cruel.”
Alpha Magnus nodded, and couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly at this. He removed his necklace and kissed it.
“This has protection conjured by Zefren. I’ll leave this to you and return it to me later when I get back.”
“No, I won’t accept that. I’ll come with you.” I said stubbornly. “I don’t want to miss out on something fun.”
Alph Magnus blinked and said in a low voice, clearly irritated. “This is a serious life and death situation. You almost got paralyzed earlier and if I didn’t get in time, they would have got you.”
Alph Magnus blinked and said in a low voice, clearly irritated. “This is a serious life and death situation. You almost got paralyzed earlier and if I didn’t get in time, they would have got you.”
He quickly leaned in and kissed me.
I froze. And he quickly removed the necklace and threw it at me, “I’m sorry but you need to stay here.”
He instantly ran away from the cave.
“Magnus! You bastard!” I yelled out.
Gusev came in. “Whoo, that alpha has guts.” He commented, “So how was the kiss? Was it good?”
I glared at him and he chuckled, running away from me before I could even hit him.
I’ll never forgive that man for what he did today! How dare he leave me, and give me a kiss!
“You like it though.”
My inner wolf commented.
I shook my head, clearing away that thought.
I stared at the wall blankly, wondering what to do now.
Looking around, I waited for the opportunity to escape and go after Alpha Magnus. As I was just outside, Gusev instantly grabbed my arm.
“Stop being naughty, Alpha Queen, it's my special order that I keep you safe here,” Gusev said, and Alpha Kamilah rolled my eyes as I was escorted back inside.
My second attempt didn’t go as planned either because as soon as she stepped foot on the ground outside, Gusev’s cold breath whispered to me, “You can’t beat my senses.”
“Just let me go, Gusev. I need to fight too.” I stubbornly yelled.
He snorted, softly grabbing her shoulders, “Yeah, and that fighting includes you staying here.”
I crossed my arms, and stopped to face him, “What must I do to let you leave me alone?”
I crossed my arms, and stopped to face him, “What must I do to let you leave me alone?”
Gusev chuckled at me, “Hmm, are you seriously going to bribe me?”
Kamilah nodded, “Yep.”
“And you're announcing it proudly…” Gusev gulped, “Fine, your mate might kill me the moment he returns.”
“I’ll find a way with that.” Screw Alpha Magnus and his overprotectiveness. I can handle myself.
“Alright, But let me come too,” He finally gave in and Kamilah smiled.
