Chapter 27 Don't Touch The Lion's Tail
Logan got back to the hospital room just to find a nurse being attended to by other nurses, and the bed was empty. "Are you okay?" Was the first thing he could ask.
The nurse threw a look at him like he was her enemy and swallowed it all. "She attacked me with that…" she pointed at the weapon on the floor.
Logan was speechless but he had many questions and assumptions flowing through his mind. "What is she up to now?" He asked himself.
"I don't know what you gave her, but she needs to be contained," the nurse advised.
Logan marveled at her concern even after what Camila did to her. It was people like her that made him feel that the whole redemption thing and faith in humanity was worth it.
He walked out of the hospital and back again. He crumpled the sheets of the bed cover where Camila had laid and brought it close to his nose, one sniff satisfied his need.
They looked at him like he was mad, but he walked away with a smile. "I'm coming for you now, little devil"
Although her scent painted throughout the hospital, probably when she was looking for a better way out without getting the hospital workers attention.
But with the faint traces of her scent, Logan knew she was out of the hospital already. But a cry and a cluster resounding from the hallway across the corner where he walked through got his attention.
He walked out to the hallway just to see a couple of nurses trying to resuscitate a badly wounded patient. He stood afar and listened.
"How did this happen to you?!" A bewildered nurse asked. "You were getting better, and now you're getting worse. What's going on here?"
Logan sighed and motioned to walk away, when a few words got him halting. "I saw her, I saw her" an elderly patient said. Logan turned back; it must be Camila.
"Who? What are you talking about?" A nurse asked.
"I saw her. The young lady. She came out looking all terrible and mighty and forced her to give her the clothes she was putting on to go home with, and then, when she wouldn't, she beat her up and took her clothes by force…" the old woman continued.
"Ah, damn" Logan ran out of the hospital and once he pushed out onto the road, the scent became distorted. And there were too many to take on.
Even though he had followed the civilization and evolution of mankind, he still had problems with the public.
He took a deep breath and relaxed while still standing in front of the hospital and little by little, all the noises that had jam-packed his ear and the turbulent scents lessened down and he was able to pick and concentrate on whichever one he wanted.
Camila's scent seemed to be pre-registered so he never lost track of it. But there were tints of diverse blood in her scent— she had some foreign and innocent blood in her hands.
He followed her scent on foot and walked for like thirty minutes before he got to a stop.
He sighed as he faced the entrance of a restaurant and Bar. "All that trouble, and she is in here, enjoying her day" he entered the restaurant and found Camila sitting at the bar with two bottles of Alcohol on the table while the bartender refilled her glass every multiple seconds.
"Hey, that's enough" Logan rushed to the bartender and held the bottle from refilling Camila's glass. The bartender looked at him with uncertainty and knocked it off.
Logan sat beside Camila, while she did the refilling herself with the fresh two bottles before her. "You are not in a good condition to get drunk" Logan said to her. But she didn't even acknowledge his presence.
"I didn't know that this restaurant had a bar," Logan commented, trying to keep it easy and cool.
"How did you know that I was here?" Camila asked in a serious tone.
"What do you think you are doing? Avenging your accident? It was no one's doing. I don't see the reason why you should hurt people. Did you see what you did to that nurse—"
"And that patient? …" She smiled. "I would do more, trust me"
"You lost a lot of blood, you should re—"
"And I'm craving for more blood" she looked at Logan with an assassin's eye.
Logan shook his head. "No, you don't scare me…"
"What were you doing at my hotel last night?"
"That's not important. You should rest…"
She hit her hand on the table! Grabbing everyone's attention at once. "Damn it! Logan, do I need a babysitter now?..." She took a sip from her glass. "Why won't you just die and leave me alone?"
"You still want me dead?" Logan asked.
"Oh I would be relieved"
"Maybe you will get your chance" he concluded.
"I hate repeating myself. Why did you come last night?"
"Stop acting like we don't have a deal…"
"Do we, Logan?"
"You get revenge for Jacques and I get for Mrs Lopez"
Camila remained silent for a while, as if she was thinking about it— she wasn't, really.
But she had to fling it out like a dust mote flung out of a window ledge. "I just survived a fatal accident" she said, eyeing him.
Logan shrugged. "If you say so. It is good that you have admitted you need to rest…"
"Yes, I need to rest" she finished the contents of the two bottles at once and staggered up. Logan motioned to help her, but she got it. She wasn't drunk, even a bit. The bartender shared a look with Logan with widened eyes, and Logan shrugged it off running after Camila who just got out of the restaurant.
"Hey, wait up!" Logan yelled after her.
Camila trudged ahead without looking back. "You are not about to follow me home now, are you?"
"We still got something to do together…"
"We?..." She crossed the road to a cool walkway and walked into an Alleyway. Logan followed her. "There's no we"
"Hear me out" he said.
"Hear this out… fuck off Logan!" She put her middle finger up to him. Logan stopped following her. He heard tin can sounds and looked beside him to see a man stuffing through the rubbish can.
He smiled. "Now that's a plan…" he went close to him and tapped him. "You want to make some cool cash?" He asked him.
He glanced at Logan and nodded his head. Logan smiled and brought out a bundle of dollar bills. The man's eyes glued at it, unbelievably. Logan looked at him "You know what, just take it all"
His eyes widened and his hands shivered as he took the money from Logan's hand. His vocal chords must have retreated for a momentary settlement as he wasn't able to utter a word. It was like a gold mine to him. But what does the good sir want?
"That should be $10k…" he said, not allowing him to say a word, Logan went ahead to let him on the plan. "Now, straight to business…" he crossed his arm over the man's shoulder, and pointed at Camila.
"You see that chick?"
The man smiled with the nodding of his head, but it wasn't what he thought it was.
"Just go give her some smacks, you know." Logan grinned. The man's brows furrowed in confusion. "Ah yes, just a quick punch and you're done" Logan concluded.
The man shrugged and ran off toward Camila, she already passed through to another alleyway. Logan followed another route that interconnected the alleyways to the streets and hung on a corner to see how it would turn out.
The man approached Camila and pushed her immediately. She retaliated. "What the fuck?..."
"Shut the fuck up bitch, you going down right now hoe"
"Oh he can talk" Logan chuckled from his corner. Camila glanced around and Logan hid well.
"Did you just call me a bitch and a hoe?"
The man raised his hand to slap her and she held it in mid air before it could learn to her cheeks. He just made her angry. The man winced as she bent his arm and it felt like his bones were crushing.
"Ahhh stop you're hurting me!" He yelled in pain.
"Good…" Logan said.
Camila punched him on the face and broke his nose at once. She kicked him on the stomach so he fell down, yelling and pleading for mercy.
Camila pounced on him and squatted above him. "You are so dead!" She said through clenched teeth.
She hit him continuously on the face until the man gave in to the unconscious demons. His face was covered in blood and her hand dripped blood.
"Now stand" Camila got up and brought him up with her.
"Not good…" Logan said in anticipation… What was her plan?
The man fluttered like he had broken limbs but Camila held him tight. "Don't die yet, sweetie" she said and broke his neck at once! The man dropped dead and she walked over him.
Logan couldn't believe that she just killed someone. He wanted to hold back, but she could do more harm; she was like a wild dog on the loose. Logan chased after her, caught up with her and stopped her halfway to the Casino.
"You paid him to fight me…" she said.
Logan wasn't going to draw on how she knew, there was something more to worry about. "What's wrong with you, Camila?" He said in a low comforting voice. Logan was never a fan of shouting or going over normal attitudes.
"You are blocking my way" Camila said looking into his eyes.
Logan drew closer to her and stared back at her. "I know, very much, '' he replied. What was going on? The atmosphere certainly wasn't good and accommodating enough, and Camila could feel the heat. Maybe she wasn't the only one who always got angry anyway.
"What's wrong, Camila? Talk to me…" he said, patting his hand on her blonde hair. He calmed her down, and even with that peace, she still wanted to fight it— she thought that she was incapable of any form of love.
She took a deep breath as Logan's loving palm petted her cheeks. She wanted to smile, she wanted to accept it for what it was, but no, she didn't need anything like that, how could it be real?
"I'm okay…" she managed to reply.
"You survived a fatal accident, the doctors said it would take months for full recovery, but you got out of the sick bed under 24 hours, wounded the nurse that was taking care of you with all her heart and an innocent patient, and now…" he looked at the dead man and sighed. "That Innocent man…"
"Oh now you want to blame me for his death?" She removed his hand from her face.
"Logan hissed. "Still doesn't change the fact that you're on a Killing spree. And I can't just let you be, I fear you might do much more…"
Camila chuckled. "What are you now? My personal advisor? My dearest? Excuse me, I have got a life to live" she brushed him off and walked out on him.
Logan went down to the dead man and started checking his pockets. He found nothing but the money he gave him.
"He is homeless, he obviously doesn't have a family. If that's what you are looking for" Camila said out loud and continued walking toward the Casino.
"Well then, the money goes to your favourite Charity organization…" he tucked the money inside his pocket, and turned back to the man.
"Oh, I don't know what your favourite Charity is. Too bad I will never get to know… too bad" he repeated himself and stood up. "You sleep well, mate. We will meet sometime in the never future"Download Novelah App
