As if the morning was also anticipating the big day for Iliya, Peregrin and the ViNenar sà, the youngest squad from the Elvish army. They all got out from the walls of the city to the nearest mountain where their leader briefed them. Only if they knew how much danger they were running right into. Even so, as a leader, Peregrin knew better than anyone else that every little detail matters when it came down to secret missions. Iliya held her sword in her hand, glancing at it like it was the first time she had ever seen it. With a deep sigh, she closed her eyes and brought the sword to her chest. "To be one with one's weapon, one must accept whatever comes with and from it" Peregrin said, approaching Iliya. Iliya opened her eyes and glanced at his squad. "Are they ready?" "Are you?" Peregrin retorted. Iliya didn't answer. She would have to be most nervous. "Of all of us here, you're the one who's afraid the most. And I'm beginning to wonder, perhaps, you didn't tell me everything about this" "Trust me, Peregrin. What I told you was enough. But if it helps, we are going to fight against the Lynx lynchs…" His eyes widened, his heart beat faster, it was like a rush he couldn't explain. "Lynx lynchs?" Iliya nodded her head. "I hope your squad Is ready" "Why? What are you risking so much for?" Peregrin questioned. Iliya didn't want to go into details, but Peregrin could easily retreat. It wasn't an official order after all, even though it was from the princess. "It's a long story. But I met a human, they are real. It's a whole new different world out here, Peregrin" "Human? That's im—" "Yes yes. I have heard that before, impossible, but it's true. The Lynx lynchs have her, we just have to get to her and take her out" "Hmm…" Peregrin walked toward the mountain cliff, held back his hands and looked over the city. Its glory was observed even from that place. A feeling of adoration and strength swept through him as the leaves from the trees waved around in response to the warm wind. The forest wasn't void of its natural inhabitants and they rattled around. ViNenar sà was done with their preparations and battle rituals. Iliya took some steps close to Peregrin, standing side by side with him as the wind swayed through the forest with exalting noise. "I hope you have a plan, princess?" "Yes" Iliya replied abruptly. But she didn't, all she thought about until now was to get help, not to figure out how the help would help, but her hopes were on Curl and Little Ben. "We are not entirely away from the city walls, but even so, whatever happens to my men, I'll answer for it. So I need to make sure that their safety is guaranteed" "I promise…" "The Lynx lynchs are the strongest creatures in our realm, an—" "But that doesn't mean that they can't be killed" Peregrin shrugged. "Well…" "But you're coming through?" Peregrin chuckled. "I haven't fought in a while, my princess. This is going to be epic" he walked away to high his men. "That's more like it" Iliya said with a smile. **** Curl was lying down on his bed inside his tree house when he heard an alarm go off. It was a leaf that fell inside, right on his face. But he was too weak and hungry to do anything about it. It was probably nothing much. Everyone was gone and he was ready for any good or bad. He snored through it all, until he fell off from the bed hitting his head on a stick that fell off from the tree. "Ugh!" He stood and picked up the stick. "Where did you fall from, little one?" He looked up and there was nothing. "Ugh I'm so… and hungry" he yawned. "Oh really, really hungry" he staggered around and decided to make use of the exit. "Gracious morning…" he yawned, stretching his body with a couple of twists and turns. He climbed through the exit feebly and fell on his face. "Ugh dear!" He raised his face and saw more than a couple legs, and more. "Am I hallucinating now?" He slowly turned around as he laid on leafy ground and faced the heavens… his heart beat against his ribcage as he met Elf faces looking down at him. His eyes widened and he gulped. "Oh Good lord…" he staggered up hurriedly and motioned to run away but he got held back. "Is this him? He's pathetic" Peregrin said, holding his ponytail. "Let me go!" Curl struggled to break free. "Sure" he left his ponytail and he fell on the ground, again. Curl rolled away from them and leaned against the tree. "How did you find here?" He asked, glancing at their faces. "And how the hell did I just understand a thing you said? When did Elves start speaking… um, not Elvish"? His heart was racing beyond him until Iliya removed her veil. "We established a connection with you so that we can communicate with each other" Curl sighed with a huge smile. "Iliya?!" He placed his hand on his chest. "Whoa that was too much" "Where have you been?" He asked, standing up. "What does it look like I've been doing?" "You brought Elf warriors? A squad? Are you kidding me?" Curl didn't believe they were actual warriors even though they very much looked like it. "I said I was going to get help…" Curl nodded his head looking at them. It felt strange being around his kind's enemies and he wondered if it was some kind of set up. "Yeah… you did" "Princess whatever we are doing, we should get to it" "Princess?" Curl glanced around and found none. He set his eyes on Iliya and gasped… she was the only female in their midst. "Princess??!" He gulped. "Princess!?!" He said out loud. "Hey shush, what? Why are you being so dramatic?" Iliya tried to calm him down. "Dramatic! He ran his hands through his hair expressing his fright. "If you're really the Elf Princess, then these are real, real warriors?" He took a glance at all of them again. "I feel like fainting" "What's the plane, young Meiv?" Peregrin questioned. "Plan?! …" The tone of his voice suggested that he had no idea what he was talking about and they must really be crazy. What he cared more about is his realization. "Iliya you put all of us in danger!" "How so?" She showed her palms in confusion. "We didn't only become friends with an enemy race, we became friends with the Royal princess! If they found out we would all be dead by now! They would think that we are conspiring with you to bring us down…" he lowered his voice and his heart's inconsistent beating. "Why did you keep this thing from us, Iliya?" "I'm really sorry, I didn't wa—" "What's the plan?!" Peregrin was growing impatient and agitated that the said plan wasn't reflecting in any way. Curl chuckled. "Plan? Plan? What is he talking about?"
