Chapter 40 KrinxVille College

As the cock crowed, Cassey, an uninteresting and depraved young lad, woke from his sleep.
His window faced pretty much of their village's pathway, which was open to almost all activities and everyone in the village. so he could easily be awoken, but most times, it was his mother that would shout until five to six times, before the lad could find his way back from the dream world to the land of reality. Krinxville was a great but small kingdom, which had towns and villages in it.
Most times he doesn't even want to, but he had to, who knows, he might just get lost in it.
As he rised from the bed, he looked up to his room ceiling, and gazed at it that he totally forgot about life, and even, his own self, as usually, always in a trance, in a world running in his mind.
He should be in school before that time. He never really liked the idea of going to college, but he wouldn't want to be a farm boy either, helping his Mother in the farm is something he wouldn't want to do long term. Moreover, it was always a hard task.
He just wanted to be free, like really free, he wanted to be a free man. But not yet, not while he was still living under the roof of, and with his Mother.
The door opened and a middle-aged blonde and curly-haired woman walked in, looking fiercely brutal, like she was going to make someone pay for the wrong they did, but her beauty will always subside any form of anger that would make her face look otherwise.
Even though she was rather played with and by wrinkles running all over her face, her pure brown eyes and hair always pitied, and will always come to make peace with every combat going on around her face.
With her fit body and average height, even though the quarrels of aging always tried to reduce her height, she was still strong.
"Oh! You ! You brat, you should be in school by now, look what says the time you chap! And you're here moping at the ceiling like you have never seen one before!?"
Cassey couldn't utter a word, for his mother , Mrs Harold was easy-going but short tempered, and wouldn't fail to deal with him when necessary. And now, he could be dealt with, really bad.
Cassey was born to the family of the Harold's, and his father had long passed away, although he should be well much involved in the farming operations and activities, his mother wanted more for him, being a scholar will be better than just a farm boy!.. She thought.
Cassey was born as a colored boy to a white generation, it was a puzzle that no one could solve, or explain because they hadn't any record or trait of a colored in their bloodline, but there he was, the only colored boy in the whole village, but luckily enough for him, Krinxville was filled with nice and good people. So if there would be any problem at all, it sure would come from The school!
Cassey got out of his trans and quickly mumbled
"I thought someone was reading me a bed time story… "
With the look on Mrs Harold's face, he didn't bother to talk to her about his silly imaginations and dreams, he was really going to have a bad day, poor Cassey.
"Shake a leg, i heard the school bell ring twice, come on, breakfast is ready, but you better take it to school"
She left, leaving cassey wondering again, but this time, it was just for a moment, He had been given the first and last warning.
So he quickly prepared for class, if there would be any. He didn't quite see himself as learning, when most of the time, he doesn't even know what they keep teaching, and wouldn't want to willingly learn from his heart. But when he does, one excuse or another get's the teacher out of the class, and done for the day.
Krinxville was a cool and busy village, everyone minded their business, most times, if they had to, but they were super simple people. It was a center of trade for many neighbouring villages and kingdoms.

Krinxville College, an old fashioned English school, was the one and only college school in krinxville, established by a citizen, who was a professor from Rome, since its opening it has amassed great development.
It attracted students from the neighbouring villages, which opened the village more to better and greener possibilities, and sometimes, the families of the students would relocate to the village, for more than a single reason including easy and fast access.
It became the desire of every mother and father to enroll their wards into the school, for many thought that hopefully, they would become professors and build more schools even for the little ones. Everyone minded their business, and too, only if they had to.
Krinxville college was a very beautiful school. A big in-wall clock was situated at the top of the building, with a description in the middle "Krinxville College".
Cassey was late to school, but fortunately, Students were still chattering. Most students were freshman and were all heading into the classes.
And they made a lot of noise. Cassey didn't have many friends so he was always by himself, mainly because he wanted to, for him, he never liked the idea of having friends instead he will have one real friend. Friendships were better, when one is still a kid, he believed.
Cassey Harold reached the school premises, and still acted as if he was new to the whole setting, having been to the school for over a month, he still felt like an alien, or better still, was taken as one. So it gave him enough more reason to distance himself from everyone and from everything as much as he could.
As he walked towards the class, multiple thoughts raced through his head, as puzzled as he could be, he still didn't understand why someone would leave their own good night sleep to read him bedtime stories every night, and told the stories as if he was a part of it. As he held his head down and fixed his hands in his pockets, a senior bully spotted him.
Hansel was just two years older than Cassey, but he would treat him like a baby brother, and even so, this lad always got on his nerves. Hansel always roared around with his dogs, and he expected them all to laugh at every joke he made, silly, funny, lame and anyhow it was, atleast to still let them be on his side.
"Hey cassey!"
Cassey turned back in disgust, he knew his voice well, and he knew he would be the only one to call him, for trouble.
"Hey, hansel sorry.. I ..I don't have your time. Not today."
"You like to go insane, why?"
"Huh? Look I have got to make up for the Jewish class, I'm behind progress" replied Cassey sluggishly. At this point, Hansel was really amazed that he chuckled.
"Haha,oh really? Right right, but umm shouldn't you be on the farm now cowboy? Like packing animal dumps and all that. Oh sure, your mama would appreciate that" A bit shruggy, he continued still
"Am just saying...." Hansel looked at his friends, they all let out a muffled laughter. He turned right round, and gave his Girlfriend a wink, she nodded her head in disgust. Everyone knew how Hansel behaved, but he was a handsome fellow, and would get any girl he wanted.
Cassey still maintained his stance, determined to fight. But Hansel was a proud boy, and strong still, there was no winning for Cassey.
"Try to be useful with your life for once, okay.." He moved closer to Cassey. And rested his hand on Cassey's shoulder. He looked him straight to the eyes with fury and anger
"Get your hands off me… now!"
Hansel got Impressed by this, he had never seen Cassey like this before, but he wasn't going to lose his game either, it only became more interesting.
"Or what farm boy?" he stared straight back in his eyes, while the other boys gazed and Looked at each other, and there was a momentary silence.
Meanwhile, right back in the classroom, students were already sitted for the Jewish class. But the jewish professor told them that an activity would come up instead first.
"The Jewish class has been extended to Next week. You can go about your other activities." Said the professor as he left the class, leaving students murmuring, disappointed and happy. Most of them loved the freedom.
Back at the school front, Cassey glanced at Hansel boys with a mean and fearful gaze as if he was listening to their heartbeats and reading their minds.
He looked straight to Jakey sparrow, his age mate. The skinny boy he saved on the village street from bandit's brutality.
Jakey removed his face, felt guilty. He dropped down and remembered what happened.
It was in the broad daylight that three bandits on horseback, robbed somewhere in the village, heavily equipped. And upon running away, Jakey showed up with a basket of orange, he tripped over a stone and his oranges were all scattered on the ground.
The bandits, coming closer, saw the boy as an obstacle. He bended over in frustration to pick up his oranges as one of the bandits swung his rope. luckily, Cassey, was passing by, he saw what was going to happen, and dropped the haystack he carried and ran towards jakey, he lifted him up and flipped him aside, as the bandits ran through a single path. Out of sight.
****
Silence ruled still until suddenly, a head popped out of from a corner looking directly towards Cassey and the boys.
It was Allen, in his early twenties, Cassey's best friend. He was older than Hansel, but he was a good boy. He broke into the moment, and yelled at cassey, relieving him from the tempting moment.
"Shake a leg cassey!" They all turned around in unison, with a look as if to say "you just ruined the moment!"
"Come on cassey, she's in here too, you don't wanna miss this game,do you?"
"Whoa is she… who!?" He knows who, but he just wanted to ask. Meanwhile, Hansel's Girlfriend got irritated that she started yelling at him, but softly.
