"Why are we inside a church? I asked after I saw the large crucifix of christ as I stepped out of the door of the confessional box . Well it's more of a chapel than a church though. Still it's not what I expected.
"The bigger question is why is there a church here?" Akana asked.
"Thats because we havent crossed yet." the devil said obviously not happy.
I'm not sure if it's because she's inside the church or because she's disappointed that we're still in the human world.
The whole place was very quiet but theres an old lady praying silently. She didnt notice us since were situated at the back anyways. But we did make quite a ruckus with our entrance.
The angel almost destroyed the box after all. The old lady could be hearing impaired or a deep sleeper.
"A church with no ghost thats odd." the ghost didnt even bothered to glide around.
"I didnt know churches are supposed to be haunted." Akana commented while checking the place out.
"Anything with long and dark history is haunted." the ghost explained.
I look at the devil. "Aren't you feeling a little scared?" I was half joking but also curious. She walks toward the statue of christ in the corner. Touches it and make the sign of the cross.
"No."
"Well this is a bit anti climatic." Akana commented as she looks around and saw nothing of significance.
"You expected to be welcome by monsters?" The angel asked a bit annoyed because he hit his head on the box.
"Well I'm not hoping for it. especially if they are as strong as you guys. But where exactly are we?"
"Beats me." the angel answered, still annoyed.
"But you're an angel." I looked at him wondering seriously if this guy is really an angel.
"Do I look like a map to you?" he quipped.
As we bicker we failed to notice that a priest is already walking towards us. He probably heard how noisy we are.
"Good morning hijos and hijas. You seem new here. I dont recognize your faces.'' He greeted us and wasn't even bothered by our noise or appearance.
Maybe because hes a priest and was taught to not judge the book by its cover.
"You're right father we're tourists and were you know trying to roam around and visit churches." I hope God wont punish me for lying to his servant.
"But did you just came out of the confessional booth?" he asked.
"No were just wondering what it looks like inside. I'm sorry father for playing around. We won't do it again." I apologized wondering if he saw everything.
"Do you want to confess anything? I'm free i can accomodate you." He volunteered.
"We're not catholics." The devil answered.
"Why are you here then?"
"We are just curious." the devil answered. Well she does look curious.
"And whats your name curious lady?" The priest asked
"Eeli."
"You have a very interesting name. They usually give that name to a boy but I guess it can be gender neutral."
"Well I use to be a boy."
I looked at her quite confuse. And then look at the angel.
"Hey don't look at me, I've only known her for a hundred years. And she's already like that when I met her."
"Okay i think you all seem a bit confuse and lost. Again Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Sorry father my comrades here just like to joke around."
"I can see that."
"We're going to leave now. But by the way father where are we?" I asked
"You're in Santo Tomas. In Fact we are celebrating our fiesta this weekend. You're invited to join our celebration.
"What year is it?" Kai suddenly asked.
The priest look at him doubtfully but decided to answer anyways. "Its year 2000 the new millenium."
"Are you sure?" Akana was so surprised.
"I'm quite sure. Its August 1 of 2000."
We all looked at each other. Then Kai walked out hurriedly and we just followed him. After he got outside he again asked someone for the time date and year. The stranger who sell balloons gave the same answer as the priest.
"Should we go back?" I asked.
"No there must be a very important reason why were here in this particular time and place."
"Its my birthday." I told them. "This is the day and year i was born."
"Then that explains everything. Miftah travelled through time." Kai said. He sounded somber at the realization.
"You can time travel? I didnt know key holders are that powerful." the ghost exclaimed. "That explains Niccolos age then."
"Who's Miftah?" I asked Kai but he didn't answer. He just walk through the crowd in the plaza like hes searching for someone.
"Miftah is the one who taught him how to use his ability." the devil explained.
