CHAPTER 5

Preito looked back to the other opposite side of the road, at the direction they were moving along and saw Jessica, moving in such a manner that signify to him that she wanted him to walk her down the lane, instead of walking along with his mother.
Jessica walking apologetically, due to his interest in her. The way he acted  in knowing her, at the last ceremonial club hosting they first met. She feels defeated in the way she walks along. Unhappy way. Preito interpreted the scenario right and conceived more confidence awareness of it, as he walked home with his mother and Jessica herself drifted along like a weary abandoned female on the voyage to the desert. With Prieto’s mind reflecting his taught like; who do you choose? Jessica or Mama? He laughed audibly to himself while walking beside his mother. As he laughs, he said to his mother; mama am hungry! like a toddler, how much he taught he needs his mother, and not wanting to give away such affection to no one. Not to talk about Jessica. Who didn’t even greet his mother.
Whispering out in keenness, am no more a prisoner of love bitch its all a game, only a game. I will be back at you. Two days later, just opposite the repairers shop was a house, in between the shop and the house a street was demarcating. As Preito was waiting to have the chains of his mother’s bicycle fix by the repairer, he saw Jessica. Jessica herself, I think she has long seen him, while sitting infront of the small pavement on a low ground to the house, with a little boy. Prieto’s mind was alert at what he saw. At the same time there was a teenager standing just opposite infront, at a short distance from Jessica talking with her. I adjusted myself to observe well if she’s either married and sitting infront of her husband or family house with the boy.
An old looking man came out, from the same building and went away, on his own accord. I moved to look again in her direction, she sat crossed her legs. She told the teenage boy to go and buy what he wants to buy, trying to excuse him for Prieto. I guess. Prieto tried to move toward her, with hope of a positive response, early that morning. He noticed Jessica giving away a hidden smile. she tried to conceal away from Prieto, maybe she could not hold her balance at the sight of him. Around prieto's neck was his multicolor towel hung around his neck, for he was just coming from the river, a polo shirt and a black colored trouser with bath room slipper were all he had on. A slight wet looks. As he got to where she was, stylishly he looked back at the repairer to see if he’s doing his repair, on the street were secondary school village student, trying to find their to school on the road. He said; hello Jessica! There  goes Jessica, acting as if not seeing him and reluctantly said hi! Prieto said; I didn’t see you at the Wednesday service, in the church.
Jessica didn't say much to his questions, then Prieto proceeded; babe you are the most beautiful thing I have ever set my eyes on, in this village. She said playfully am not a thing o! I knew Prieto has started flaking off her wall, even though she kept hidden in pretence.
Prieto pause and smiled mildly and said again you are the most beautiful lady I have ever set my eyes on around this place, and she smiled shyfully waving her face off in acceptance, in what I call; still fronting mode, candidly. He said to her; Jessica would you be my girl friend? Half heartedly, she replied him don’t you see my son! can’t you see am married! assertively, Prieto said; Jessica the last time we met at the ceremonial club hosting, you told me you’re with your fiancée, just in few space of time you’ve married and with a son. Hope you are not taking me as a puppet or one of these village mongrels? Asking, she kept shut like; oh I lied. It was obvious that I lied. Rolling her eyes in such a way to remember, if she actually said something like that at the first instance. Suddenly, she silence her rumination. Prieto gave her room to breath, not wanting to be all over her as a big boy. H told  her, let’s be friends. Tossing and adjusting the multicolor towel he had around his neck. As he was leaving behind to the repairers side, he looked back and ask if she would be coming to the church service on Sunday, willingly she said yes. To Prieto, inside his mind already careless, if she would be coming to the church services anyway. am sure that must be for the fact that prieto already knew Jessica, already has a child out of wedlock.
Evening times, Prieto will walk around the village, or possibly take a stroll down to the stream, to have some wash. There was an old woman, living in a mud house, nearly opposite where Prieto lives with his mother. With a younger brother from another father.
Prieto’s mother father’s house. An aged building, there they live. If you can really picture one of those, once most beautiful houses in the village at some 50’s to more few years.
An empty house, where you have several bicycle, all packed inside the sitting room with old shelves and cupboard. Two wrecked chairs, broken down windows with iron made burglary proof, old mat. Through the entrance of the door, two rooms were beside. The left room an old man stays there, he speaks with some native dialect but his activities were remote as a farmer. He wakes up very early in the morning, still dark morning and light up his wrap of marijuana.
