CHAPTER 9

In the empty house, at the sitting room of  his mother's residence. Quickly, he took and rode on his mother bicycle to Joe’s place.
He got to Joe’s place. Joe welcomed him and told Prieto to have his sit. He  switched on the television, and they got into discussion about how to make the publication of Prieto’s book. Prieto told him about Eze Ojugo, and his interest in the publication plan. He said; Eze had spoken with a printer who is his friend, and Joe asked him", what his role will be in this plan?  Prieto added; as a financial personnel. Prieto talked to him about, getting few copies to be published, against the launching of the book. Having few published copies, to be in launching. Joe bought the idea. Then, Prieto decided to set up a meeting between the both of them. Eze Ojugo and Joe himself. Very early in the next morning, Prieto woke up and jumped on the bicycle as usual and went to Eze’s place, he got there. The weather was as cold as frozen breeze, from a snow. It chilled Prieto’s body while riding on the bicycle and at every interval he responded to the feel. At his arrival to Eze’s place, he knocked at the distance gate to the building. knock! knock! there was no response, so he knocked again. The weather was very cold, and Prieto thought to himself that Eze's ears, had gone frozen in the harmatan. Later, Eze heard the knocking sound from the gate, and opened out from his window, to see who is by the gate. Hello brother; Prieto greeted, Eze in return answered him. Prieto said; bro it’s cold outside, and I’ve been here for some couple of minutes.

Eze took his keys and opened the gate for Prieto. He parked his bicycle and stepped into Eze’s compound. How was your night? Prieto asked; he answered fine thank you. I came checking on you yesterday evening but you’re not around. I left a message down to your wife. As he remembered the copy disc, he  sometimes ago gave Eze and his wife to listen to. I mean my music!  I gave to you, have you listened to it? Eze said no but his wife had. Prieto asked for it, but unfortunately the disc was stuck inside the compact player, and the electric current was very low. Low in the sense that, the compact tray could not be opened. Prieto said even till now; and he said yes. Soon we will bring it out and you will have it. Prieto changed his conversation, and said to Eze that he thinks he has found someone that is interested in financing his book, while he handles the launch. He asked; who could it be, Prieto replied; do you know Joe? The guy that stays behind chief Obuh's place, along the express crossing from Obi-Ikebie. The fenced house owned by a chief.  He said; what does he do? Prieto replied; He lays bricks. He said; he knows him. Eze told Prieto that he is still very much around till 10:00 o’clock. If Prieto could rush down to his place and call Joe to come, then they can talk. Prieto said; that’s a good idea. He asked Eze to give him some few minutes. While he rush down to Joe's place. He walked the express road carefully dragging the bicycle, and peddled hard on it as he climbed. On getting to the street where Joe resides, He saw him at the front gate of his house, and told him that he is just coming from Eze’s place and he is equally waiting to meet him. So they can discuss business. Prieto told Joe that Eze said he knows him, and Joe said is that so? Then lets go and see him. You can park your bicycle inside the compound; he said to Prieto. So they can both ride to his house, on his own motorcycle.
They got there and prieto went to the entrance of the gate and opened it. Joe said; is this who you’re talking about? "I think I know the man that stays here. He proceeded to asked him about his occupation, so as to be sure if it’s the person he thought in his mind. Prieto said; he works aluminum product. Joe replied; that he knows him. On their entrance, Joe was walking in a calculated way. Prieto on his own side, dancing to the rhymes of his foot step in same manner. In a flash, Prieto walk ahead a little more forward, to get the main entrance door on a knock. Who’s there? Prieto asked; the children to know if there father was still around. From his bed room came Eze, to the outside door. Prieto said; we are here already. Eze welcome them in. Before prieto, Joe stepped into the sitting room with a reluctant attitude. Yet, trying to keep his sense of humor. Prieto was sensitive enough to observe Joe's short drama.
Eze Ojugo on one hand, pulled down his curtain doors. He opened up the doors for some air, so they can have a drink. Asking Joe if he doesn't mind? Joe responded to him that he doesn’t mind. Prieto accepted with him too. Eze went outside the compound to get some hot sea mans (sapele water), with three short cups and placed it on the floor at the middle of them. He asked prieto to serve the drink. Immediately, Joe interrupted by saying; every man will have to serve himself. So prieto serve Eze and himself. Joe served himself, by himself. They started on irrelevant conversation at first, then Eze initiated the main reason for their meeting. Prieto told him about meeting with someone on a discussion, but he never thought he was the one.
Since he was interested on same point of discussion, he had to give room for prieto to arrange their meeting. So, let proceed to the second order
