SELENE
I sat on the cushion scrolling through my phone absentmindedly when a car honked outside and I looked up, a small smile made its way to my face and I immediately stood up, grabbed my bag, and headed outside then met Clarissa about to knock.
"Oh, Hi!" She greeted, waving at me with a huge grin on her face.
"Hi! How're you doing?" I asked smiling. I stepped out of the house and locked it behind me, tucking the key away into my bag.
"I'm doing great, you look so nice" she complimented, giving my outfit another look and I just grinned at her.
"Thank you, and you look great too" I complimented back and she just nudged my sides before walking away.
I stared at her retreating figure in awe, she was the opposite of what I expected an Annha of such a huge and rich pack to be like. She seems fun, jovial, and unjudgemental. Her car blaring at me snapped me out of my thoughts, and I immediately looked up at her apologetically only to meet her laughing from the car seat. I once again shook my head before I walked up to the car and slid into the passenger seat. She immediately started the car once I was comfortable and drove off.
"Our schedule for today is really simple. I have to do a routine check-up at the 4th district hospital, I can use that as an opportunity to give you a tour, then we can go grab lunch and go shopping. Are you okay with that?" She asked and glanced at me with a smile before turning back to the road
"Of course!" I mumbled excitedly and she winked at me before turning back to the road. We both fell into a comfortable silence after that, I fixated my eyes out of the window, taking note of all the people, places, and beautiful sceneries we were passing. I would occasionally whip out my phone and take a picture each time I see anything that catches my eye and it usually ends up being a beautiful landscape.
"The routes in your pack are really beautiful, it makes me excited and super curious about the tour," I said to her, tucking my phone into my bag.
"Thank you! And you don't have to worry much longer because we are already here!" She informed me and I immediately looked up front and was cooed in response.
A beautiful big black gate stood before us with 4th district carved on top of it, a couple of male Weres clothed in security wear were stationed behind the gate and this time their gazes were fixed on the car, I watched their expression go from deadly and unwelcoming to recognition and respect. They immediately pulled the gate open and bared their necks in respect.
Clarissa drove slowly into the district, stopping the car in front of the guards "Hello Bruno and James!" She greeted and the two guards immediately looked up at her.
"Welcome Annha, we've been expecting you," the dark-haired guard said, showing his pearly white teeth.
"Same here, James. I've been wanting to come over for a while but got caught up. We'll catch up later, but I have something or rather someone to introduce to you guys" she said and turned to me with a mischievous smile on her face.
I raised my eyebrows at her and mouthed "what are you doing?" But instead of responding like a normal Werewolf, she grabbed my neck and pulled me closer to her, practically shoving my face to the guards.
"This is Annha Selene, from Bloodmoon pack. She is Beta Drystan's fiancee" she introduced me. I saw the guards' eyes widen in fear before they bared their necks.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Annha," they said together and I forced a smile on my face.
"Same here" I managed to choke out in between Clarissa's hold. I saw her grin widely before she let go of me and started the car again.
"We'll see you guys later," she said and the guards just nodded their heads before she drove off. She slowed down once we were inside the district and she began pointing out places to me and introducing me to certain people as she drove around.
I got to see the mall, the school, the training ground, and the cafes in the district before she pulled up in a parking lot "We're here, let's go" She said, and stepped out of the car. I immediately followed suit and soon enough we both stood in front of a hospital that looks like three back at my pack put together, it was coated in the usual white paint and had a garden surrounding it. I wasn't a fan of hospitals and was never impressed by them, but this one left an impression on me.
"Would you like to go in with me and do the check-up or would you like to wait for me in the cafeteria?" I heard Clarissa ask, dragging me out of my eye tour on the hospital.
I turned towards her and weighed my options, going in with her will only result in more work and getting introduced to tons of people that I'm not ready for "I think I'll wait for you, I have to make a call" I finally decided after a few seconds of silence, she nodded in understanding and linked our arms together.
"I'll take you to the cafeteria," she said and dragged me along. The cafeteria was smaller and cozier than I expected and not many people were in there at the moment, making me release a breath of relief. My eyes began roaming around looking for a good spot, my eyes landed on the vacant spot at the back near the window. As if she read my thoughts, Clarissa dragged me over there and pushed me down on the chair "wait here for me, okay? You can order whatever you want, the bill is on me" she said and I nodded in response, she smiled at me before turning on her heels and dashing out of the Cafe.
I shook my head at her, she was just way too energetic and childlike, but I like that. I ordered a cup of latte and as I enjoyed the deliciousness of the drink, I brought out my phone and dialed my dad's number; mentally preparing myself for his outburst.
He picked up on the 3rd ring and my eardrums were immediately ruined by his loud voice "Princess!! I can't believe you didn't call your old man for over 24 hours! What kept you from calling me, are you okay? Do you feel safe? Do you want to come back?" he threw the questions at me all at once, and a smile unknowingly made it's way to my face. His love and voice filled my heart with a warmth that only a father's love could give.
"Take a breath, dad," I said gently into the phone and I heard him inhale and exhale deeply from the other end "I'm fine dad, and I'm safe here too... I'm sorry I didn't call earlier, I was adjusting to the new place" I explained, feeling remorseful for not calling earlier. I heard him release a breath of relief, adding to my remorse.
"I'm glad you are okay, now tell me all about the pack," he said and my face lit up in excitement, I immediately began telling him all I had seen and experienced in the last 24 hours I'd been here. We both were lost in our talk, that I didn't notice time rapidly passing by till I saw Clarissa standing in front of me with a big file in her hand.
I took that as my cue to end the call, "I'll have to go now Dad, we'll talk later. Don't forget to send the email to me, I'll be glad to help. Love you!"
"Love you too, princess and I'll send it to you. Bye"
"Bye dad" I muttered and ended the call.
"I'm jealous of your relationship with your Dad, I miss mine so much" she mumbled and my heart clenched at the pain in her voice, I was about to say sorry to her but she immediately cut me off "please don't say anything to prevent a dam flooding in my eyes" she mumbled and let out a small laugh.
I bobbed my head in understanding and immediately changed the topic "what's up with the file?" I asked, glancing at the file that was now resting on top of the table.
"This is just the hospital reports and I have to go through them and report to the Alpha this night. I'm sorry but I'll have to cancel our lunch and shopping, we can go some other time, okay?" She apologized and I just waved it off.
"That's fine, I can help you with these tho. I have lots of free time" I offered and her face immediately lit up in excitement.
"Thank you so much, that means a lot" she thanked me and I offered a warm smile in response "well, if you don't mind let's get going," she said, looking at me with a hopeful glint in her eyes.
"Of course, let's go," I said, picking up my latte and bag. She picked up the file and we both began walking out of the car when my phone pinged with a notification. I mumbled a quick "excuse me" and opened my phone, it was a text from an unknown number.
I raised an eyebrow as I clicked on the message "This is Drystan, Derrick wants to meet the both of us right now. Tell Clarissa to drop you off at the packhouse right now and tell her to pick up her damn phone. Hurry up" I rolled my eyes at the message before passing my phone to Clarissa who quickly read the message and huffed in annoyance.
"Let's hurry up, Derrick probably wants to make you feel like a pack member now" she muttered and increased her pace, leaving me to ponder over what she meant by that.
