Drystan stood by the door, his face scrunched up in a deep frown and his eyes glaring daggers at I and Clarissa as we walked up to him. I'm pretty sure anyone but me, would be terrified by his glare but when I turned towards Clarissa; she looked as nonchalant as ever.
A small smile formed on my face at her attitude and I turned back to Drystan, this time my face mirrored the scowl on his face. "What do you guys think to hurry up means? I've been standing here for over 45 minutes" he snarled, the moment we got close enough to him.
I was about to reply him with a snarky comment but was cut off by Clarissa "I know you're dumb, but even a dumb person should know that driving over to this place from the 4th district takes more than 50 minutes but here we are here! Dumbass" she rolled her eyes at him and walked in, she nudged his ribs painfully as she walked in making Drystan double over in pain.
"Fucking Wench.." he cursed out, holding his sides while I tried my best not to burst into laughter but I couldn't help it and let out a laugh. He immediately turned towards me with a glare, but I just raised an eyebrow at him, amusement written all over my face.
"Now if you are done crying like a child over a little nudge, can you tell me why Alpha Derrick requested for my presence?" I asked, crossing my arms underneath my boobs; accidentally pushing them out.
I saw his eyes rest on them for a second before he quickly looked up at me, he stood upright and cleared his throat "He says he wants to discuss the pack duties with us" he mumbled gruffly.
"Pack duties?" I asked, hoping he'll have the decency to reply me but he turned on his heels and started walking into the house.
"I believe if we go and answer him, you will get your answers," he said without pausing his movements, I rolled my eyes and quickly walked after him.
We both were walking in silence to Derrick's office when I remembered something and increased my pace to catch up with him "Thank you" I said when I was by his side.
He halted and turned to me with his brows raised in confusion "for what?"
I imitated him and stopped as well "for asking Clarissa to hang out with me" I replied and realization dawned on his face.
He picked up his pace and began walking again, but I heard him mumble "you're welcome" making a tiny smile appear on my face, and a little warmth engulfed my heart at his thoughtfulness.
I was brought out of my thoughts when I realized we were already in front of Derrick's office, I immediately neutralized my face and looked up at Drystan; that has been staring at me "any problem?" I mouthed to him when his gaze didn't wither but he just turned away from me and knocked quietly on the door.
A gruff voice mumbled "come in" from the inside, and Drystan gently opened the door and gestured me to walk in. I smiled warmly at him and walked in, with him following right behind me and closing the door behind him.
"Oh! Good day, Annha, please take a seat" Derrick greeted with a small nod at me before he turned to Drystan and gave him a nod of acknowledgment, which he immediately returned.
"Good day, Alpha" I greeted and gently pulled out a chair and sat down, Drystan surprisingly pulled out the chair beside me and sat down as well. I glanced at him for a while before turning back to Derrick "You requested our presence?" I asked, heading straight to business.
He cleared his throat and nodded, closing the file in front of him as his gaze rested on us "Yes, I want to discuss certain things with you. We both know you will be staying here for a long period of time, and I'm sure you don't want to just stay here with nothing to do and because I owe you one, I decided to come with something to keep you busy" he stated and I nodded in agreement before he continued "it came to my notice that you were a commander back in your pack"
A proud smile immediately made its way to my face and I nodded "yes"
"Good, because of that I've decided that you will join Drystan as the trainer and overseer of the pack warriors" he stated and a great wave of excitement flooded my body. Training and being in charge of pack warriors has always been my thing, and I'm so looking forward to taking care of soldiers in such a huge pack.
But my excitement was suddenly and unexpectedly cut off by Drystan, "I'm sorry, Alpha, but I object. I'm capable of handling the pack warriors and I have been doing that for years now, I do not need help. I suggest she works with Annha Clarissa in doing the routine check-ups in the districts" he stated with a straight face and a wave of unimaginable anger immediately consumed me.
"Excuse you, Beta Drystan. You might be good at what you do, but so am I. I don't object to this work, so I do not see why you should and I can always help Annha Clarissa out whenever I can. You can keep your objections and opinion to yourself" I said, in a calm voice but my eyes were shooting blazers at him.
He turned to me the moment I was done speaking and the anger in his face mirrored mine, and we both glared at each other. We both spent the next few seconds glaring at each other until Derrick cleared his throat; snapping us off our glaring contest.
I reluctantly dragged my gaze away from Drystan and turned towards him and found him looking at the both of us with amusement written all over his face "Well, it's clear you both have fiery spirits and that is a great quality for commanders. My decision has been made, and I expect the both of you to behave like adults while working together." he stated dismissively.
I turned to Drystan; who had a very deadly scowl on his face with his jaw clenched tightly, but that didn't faze me even one bit as I smirked victoriously at him and stood up "I'll be on my way now, Alpha. Thank you"
He looked up at me and nodded "you're Welcome" he then turned to Drystan and raised an eyebrow "you should drive your fiancee home" he stated, and Drystan's jaw ticked in frustration but he didn't say anything, and just gently stood up.
"I'll be heading out now," he said and without waiting for a response he walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him. I turned to Derrick and smiled warmly at him before rushing after the overgrown angry baby.
