SELENE
A horrified gasp left my lips the moment Drystan collapsed on my lap, "Drystan!" I yelled, cradling his face in my hands and tried to shake him awake.
His body was burning up and he was sweating profusely, and they were the only signs he was still alive. He looked deathly pale and he was barely breathing "Drystan!" I yelled again, trying to shake him awake but to no avail.
"What's wrong?, What happened?" one out of the many soldiers surrounding us asked, and I just looked up at him blankly.
"I... I don't know, one minute he was standing the next, he was on the floor" I tried my best to explain, but I was barely making sense.
"Get it together!" A voice that doesn't belong to Eliana yelled in my mind, but I didn't have the time to think about it, so, I took a deep breath to calm down,
"We need to take him to the hospital," I said when I got myself together, I searched his pockets for his car key with shaky hands and when I found it, I brought it out and turned to the others "I need two of you to help me carry him to the car" I ordered and I saw the two buffiest soldiers step out.
They gently lifted him up and then nodded curtly at me, before they started walking over to the car. I took that as my cue and quickly ran to the car to open the back seat for them. Thanks to their wolf speed and strength, it didn't take long for them to carry him over to the car and lay him on the seat.
"Alright, two of you get into the car. You will direct me to the hospital" I ordered and they immediately complied and got into the car. I then turned to the rest of the soldiers, "all of you listen up" I yelled and I immediately sensed their wolf instincts piquing up "Two out of those that have completed their push-ups, should go and inform the Alpha of what just happened and the rest of you, make sure you complete your training and return the equipment where they belong"
"Yes, Commander" they all chorused and I immediately turned and hopped into the car. Ace, one of the soldiers with me, gave me quick and precise directions and soon enough, we got to the hospital and Drystan was immediately admitted into the Emergency ward.
I stood in front of the ward, pacing around hopelessly. It's been 15 minutes since he was admitted and I've gotten no news from the doctor or nurses, Derrick and Clarissa were also nowhere to be found.
I sighed frustratedly and plopped down on the waiting chair, I rested my elbows on my legs and placed my head on my palms "If you can hear me, please let him be alright" I said a quick prayer to the moon goddess, I rarely do that and the faith I have in her is so thin but at this moment, she felt like the only one I could turn to.
I was still in the same position when I felt someone sit down beside me, and I quickly turned to the person; in hopes that it might be Clarissa or Derrick, but disappointment washed over me when I saw an old woman there instead. I sighed and turned to face the door of the ward that was still closed.
"He will be okay, Selene," the old woman said and I turned to her so fast, I almost got whiplash.
"What?" I asked as I stared at the old woman with wide eyes, she looked like she was in her early 60s, her grey hair was long and full, and for a woman her age, she is incredibly beautiful. I shook my head and snapped out of my trance when I remembered she just called my name and I do not know who she is "I'm sorry, but who are you? And how do you know my name?" I asked but she just smiled fondly at me.
"I am Elphaba, and don't bother sweetie, you don't know me. I'm here to tell you that he'll be okay, and it's time" she said and I just stared at her with raised eyebrows
"Time?" I repeated and she nodded "time for what?" I asked and instead of replying she just smiled at me, adding to my annoyance "time for what?" I repeated, clenching my teeth tightly in annoyance.
"Time for you to start questioning everything," she said, and I got even more confused. At this point, I began doubting if she was okay in the head. I mean, this is a hospital and she could be a patient losing a few brain cells.
" Listen, I do not understand what you're saying but..." I started but my words were cut off when the door of the ward opened and the doctor stepped out. My words died in my mouth and I quickly rushed to the doctor.
"What happened? Is he okay?" I bombarded the doctor with questions and he just raised his hands
"Annha, please calm down and take a deep breath" he instructed, and I did as he said. When he saw that I'd calmed down a little, he smiled warmly at me "first of all, I'm sorry..." I didn't even let him finish and I began shaking my head furiously.
"Why are you apologizing? He's okay, isn't he? Nothing happened to him, he just fainted" I began ranting again, and this time he gently grabbed my arms.
"He's fine, Annha, calm down" he stated and I released a deep breath "I was just apologizing for taking so long, we had to run a few tests on him, and the good news is we found nothing wrong. He's perfectly okay, but for some reason, he isn't waking up, yet" He explained and I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"If he's fine, then why isn't he waking up?" I asked, trying to make sense of the situation.
"That's what we are trying to figure out, we..." His words died down in his mouth, and he quickly let go of me and bared his neck "Good day, Alpha" he greeted, and I turned to find Derrick and Clarissa standing before me; their faces were contorted in a frown.
"Doctor Sirius, what's wrong with my Beta?" He asked and the doctor quickly told them the same thing he just told me "can we see him?" He asked after a few seconds of silence and the doctor immediately nodded his head.
"Yes, but please give them a few minutes to get him ready for visitation" he explained and Derrick nodded. The doctor excused himself, leaving us alone.
It was at that moment that they both acknowledged my presence, "Annha, are you okay?" Derrick asked, rubbing my arms gently and I just nodded at him.
"I'm fine, Alpha," I said and he shot me a look of pity before he took a seat on one of the waiting chairs, Clarissa immediately ran to me and engulfed me in a hug.
The reasons for their actions weren't clear to me, I wasn't even that close to Drystan, so clearly this shouldn't be hurting me the way I think they think it is, but I accepted their pity wholeheartedly and hugged Clarissa back.
"I'm fine, Riss. Let's take a seat" I mumbled to her and she nodded, we both were about to take a seat when I saw Elphaba still seated there with a smile on her face, and I immediately turned to Clarissa "Do you know her?" I asked, discreetly pointing at Elphaba.
Clarissa turned towards her and just scrunched up her face in confusion "who? There's no one sitting there" she said, turning back to me.
I turned back to where Elphaba was sitting to make sure she was still seating there, and she is "what do you..."
"Don't bother yourself, Selene, they can't see me" she said and turned to me with that same smile on her face, but for some reason, it didn't feel welcoming and warm this time, instead it gave me chills and I just gulped nervously.
"What are you talking about, Selene?" Clarissa asked; her face still scrunched up in confusion. I turned towards her and just shook my head.
"It's nothing, I was mistaken," I said, forcing a smile on her face. She was about to say something, but the door opened to reveal Drystan being wheeled out of the room with an IV attached to his hand.
The nurses paused and let us see him for a while before one of them muttered "please, follow us" and began wheeling him away, we all stood up to go after him but Elphaba held me back and I turned to her with raised eyebrows.
"One more thing before I go, just know you're the one to wake him up. He just didn't pass out, there's more to this and he can't come out of it alone. He can't do it alone this time, you have to help him and don't forget, you're much more than you think. I'll be here to assist you, but there's only so much I can do" she said and before I could say a word to her, she disappeared into thin air.
I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was seeing clearly, but when I opened my eyes and still saw an empty chair staring back at me, I immediately ran after them.
