Chapter 6

Amelia
"Where are you going to?" She inquired, I walked to her and pulled her into a hug and then smiled brightly at her. "Thank you Daisy for Everything, you are truly a good friend, please take care of yourself and tell my parents that I'm sorry" I began walking away, "What do you mean Amelia, don't tell me you are about to do something stupid!!" she yelled at me. "Don't follow me, Daisy, I'm begging you, Don't" with that I ran up the stairs as fast as my leg could carry me till I got to the rooftop. I could hear Daisy calls as I ran up, but my heart is made up, I need to do this to set things right. You may be wondering why she didn't go after me, well that's because I spoilt the door lock immediately I entered so as to slow her movements.
The cool evening breeze on the rooftop was heartwarming and I smiled as it scattered my hair all over my face. I got close to the rail and began to cry all over again. I looked around the rooftop which seemed strange as I have never been to this part of the school, but it is going to be the last as I will not be heard of, nor be spoken about. It is for the best and I hope you all understand.
I held the rails and climbed on it. I tried to balance so as to jump out with ease. "What are you doing?" Someone asked and I froze.
I froze immediately I heard that voice behind me, I think it was a young man of about 21 years of age, he's definitely not a student in this school. Anyways, I never expected anyone to be here and that got me suspicious of him.
"What are you doing?" He asked again coming close to me. "What does it look like I'm doing?" I snapped at him "ermm looking at the city from up here"he answered sarcastically.
"No Silly, I'm ending my miserable life, why am I so unfortunate? Why can't I be happy like other people, why is my case different?!" I yelled panting heavily, I wiped my eyes, "please leave here, I don't want to have you come out as a witness to my death, I'm begging you, leave this instant" I pleaded to the young stranger beside me but he stood there unmoved.
"I don't know why you are doing this girl, but before you jump, Look around you and tell me if your problems are greater than that of the people here" he said and I turned to look at him. His eyes were teary and held a lot of fear in them but I looked away immediately, nothing is going to change my mind.
"You don't even know me" I answered stubbornly. There was a minute of silence and I was forced to check on the stranger, I know I will never forgive my self if he is jailed after my death. I needed to distract him. I turned to meet him staring back at me. He looked angry.
"If you think you are the only one suffering and in pains, then why the f**k are you standing there and not jumping!!!!!" He yelled at me and I shook in fear.
I started to cry all over again and the young man started to cry too,  "I can't do this" I whispered, my shoulders shaking. "Yes girl it's not worth it, whatever it may be. Come on, let's be survivors" he answered stretching out his hand so that I could climb down.
"I can't do it" I said loudly as I fell into his arms and he held me tightly as we poured out our tears and cried in pains. "We will conquer, I believe we are strong enough" he said patting my head as I relaxed in his arms.
Strangely, I felt comforted and happy in this man's arm. I feel we are connected somehow, but I can't figure out how. Our bodies stuck with each other, my messy cloth staining his, but he did not mind. He buried his face in the crook of my neck, his tears soaking my body as he held me tightly. It was strange because I felt a connection with this man, I don't even know him yet I'm so relaxed in his arms. Deep down my heart, I wanted to know the reason behind his own tears.
We were distracted by Daisy's voice as she entered the rooftop panting, we slowly disengaged from the hug and I stared at the strange man, I didn't see his face clearly so I stared at his eyeballs alone. He covered his face with a hoodie immediately Daisy entered and began to walk away.
"Amelia, I'm glad you are safe" Daisy said breathlessly and pulled me in another hug. Her shoes were ripped and she had a heavy stick in her hand, I think she used it in breaking the door. I stared at the man's retreating figure as he finally walked out of the rooftop, I couldn't help but wonder how he managed to come up here since he does not look like a student. I smiled gratefully at Daisy and helped her down the stairs as she limped she's truly a friend.
Strangely, after my encounter with the strange man, my life changed for good. I was no longer the timid, stupid and naive Amelia whites, I was determined to change my lifestyle and learn to stand up for myself.
