Chapter 18

Because of what she said, her mother couldn't bear breathing and she was trembled to cling to her father's clothes. "Let's get out of here," her mother pleaded tremblingly. "Maybe there is something that might happen to us here."
They hurried to leave that place. No-one stopped them until they got out of the entrance of that building. When they got into their car, her father was frightened when he inserted the key into the ignition of their car.
He was very sweaty and very worried. Her mother, on the other hand, was afraid to look at the entrance of that building. It can be called a mall because it is spacious inside, but it is still small compared to the mall itself in the city.
Her father was about to fly the car he was driving home. No one has spoken but there is fear and nervousness in their reactions.
They were currently on their way when she received a call from Brimo.
"Where are you?" He asked on the other line as she answered the call. "I'm here at your house but you're not here," he said.
She calmed down and then spoke, “We're going home. Just wait for us there," she told him.
"Did you go to town?" He asked.
"Yes, we went to that very building," she replied.
"You know it's dangerous there, Halia—"
"Here we are," she interrupted Brimo as Brimo turned his gaze to them who was standing next to his car right in front of their gate.
She heard Brimo's sigh on the other line and saw him inserting his phone into his pants pocket at the same time the call ended. She also turned off her phone and put it back in her pants pocket. Their car stopped in front of the gate and her father hurried out.
From inside the car, she saw Brimo helping her father open the gate. She also noticed that her father was speaking as if he's told Brimo what had happened to them.
Soon, her father back to their car and started the engine again. Her father drives the car inside their gate and she also saw Brimo driving his car to park in their yard as well.
After parking their car, she immediately got out of it. But she noticed her mother that she still did not move to get out of their car. Her father noticed that too as he opened the door for her.
"Karina ..." her father called to her mother in a low tone. She slowly looked at her father as if she was still out of herself. "We're at home, no one will hurt us anymore," her father comforted her mother.
"Are you okay?" She almost jumped a little when Brimo suddenly spoke behind her. She turned to face him and then looked again at her mother who was being helped by her father out of the car.
She looked back at Brimo then nodded. "I'm fine," she said softly.
When they entered the house, her parents began to ask about what they had seen earlier.
“If they are vampires, why are they here? Aren't they afraid of the sunlight? " Asked her father. He was currently sitting on their couch in the living room as he messed up his hair in thought. "I don't understand, the woman seemed to be a normal person before but why suddenly is that so? ”
“I'm sure they use protection against the sun so they don't get burned, Uncle. But I don't know what it is," Brimo said. He just stood near her and he was just about to sit down next to her.
Her mother, on the other hand, just pressed her body to the corner of the couch to calm herself while she was just sitting on the couch too in front of her father and Brimo sat next to her.
“But why are there such people here? How long did you know this Brimo? " Her father asked Brimo emphatically.
"From the time that I was born until I grew up. I know much about them. Because our family is used to fighting vampires," Brimo admitted and she immediately tilted her head to him.
“You know, ever since? I mean, it's been like that for a long time, even when Halia was little? " Her father asked in shock.
Brimo nodded. "So that they can continue to hide their race from the eyes of many people because they can remove the memories of all those who live here except people like Halia," Brimo explained. "That's why my family remained knew about them. because like Halia we also have blood that vampires can't hypnotize," he added.
She stared at Brimo, "Do you have a blood of fairy too?" She asked him incredibly.
Brimo shook his head, "But our ancestors also came from the world of fairies," he replied.
“If you're not a fairy? What are you? Half-human and only half-enchant?" She asked.
Brimo just smiled and nodded. "Maybe so," he replied as he shrugged
She noticed that Brimo was not ready to explain right now especially since they were in front of her parents. Even she knew that his smile and nod were not enough for her, she didn't ask any more questions.
"What's with that blood of fairy or enchant that you're saying?" Her father asked them sarcastically but still confused.
She looked at her father. "Father, as I said before, Mother and I have a blood of fairy," she insisted telling him the truth.
Her father looked at her mother, who was still silent. "All I know ..." finally her mother also spoke. "The fairy has powers," She said and looked at her. “Why I don't have? Why you don't have?" Her mother stared at her eyes.
She thought of an answer. She remembers her abilities. She can hear noises or conversations of other people even from afar. Her vision was also bright in the dark.
"Can you see even in the dark, Mother?" She asked her.
She thought, as if she had something realized, then later on she nodded. "Y-yes."
"Can you even hear people talking even from afar?" She asked again.
“Yes. Everyone can do, isn't it?" Her mother replied in chorus.
“It's only us, Mother. Father could not hear even from afar. Do you remember that you always get annoyed when you call him away and you have to come closer because he can't hear you?" She asked again to let her realize everything. "Or when he plays his cassette loudly and no matter how loud your shouts at him if the music is too loud, he still can't hear you. That's why you always called him deaf, isn't it Mother? Because he's just a human," she added.
Her parents looked at each other.
"That's why you weren't a victim of a vampire earlier when that vampire hypnotized you both. But at the same time, only Father lost his sanity because he is full blood of human and you are a half-human and half fairy," she continued to explain.
She noticed her mother swallowed intensely. "Why your grandfather didn't let us know, about this?" Her mother asked.
“According to Grandpa, when the vampires didn't show up for a very long time, he decided to hide the truth from our family. But the day had come when he knew in himself that he was really old, and he wasn't sure If that for the rest of his life our place would be quiet forever. As to make him assured, he told me the truth about our lineage and he hands me the magical bow before he died, Mother," she answered
Because of that explanation, she finally confirmed to her parents the truth about their family. They also believe in vampires. Days passed and they felt limited activity in their town especially their grocery shopping and marketing for their daily food stock.
It is because everywhere some vampires are secretly victimizing people, and as time goes on their lives have become dangerous. But what she did not expect was her father's decision to just leave their place.
It was against her will, so it got to the point that they quarreled with her parents to force her to do what they wanted.
“You will follow everything I tell you, Halia! If our place is so dangerous, there is no reason for us to stay here!" Her father shouted at her because of her strong conflict.
“Come on Halia, listen to your father. We are not safe here," her mother insisted.
She confronted them. “I have an obligation here, Father, Mother. People need me here. I have the bow and I own it— ”
“Think about your life, Halia! You're a girl! How do you make sure you can handle them?" Her father shouted at her.
She couldn't utter any word because her father was right. She cannot fight vampires. But she shook her head as she looked at her father. “No Father. I can fight them. I have my faith in my magical bow. I know that as long as I have it, I can fight and I will fulfill my obligation as the savior of the people— ”
“Are you out of mind? Those vampires are not just wild creatures, Halia. They are monsters. You are alone and you are still weak as a rat compared to them and we all know that they are so many. And they will be more and more as long as they can victimize people, you know that in yourself, Halia!" He asserted.
“I can, Father. People need me here. Uzenio and his family, your farmers. I don't want to leave them and let them put in danger!" She shrieked.
But his father snatched the bow she was holding. She was alarmed when he threw it at their roof.
"When you get it there on the roof, I'll believe that magical bow is yours, Halia," her father challenged her.
Tears fell from her eyes as she looked at his father.
“Marco! Why did you do that? You aren't thinking! She's going to climb the roof to get it!" Her mother yelled.
And her mother was right, that was her plan. But she felt the energy in her body that connected to the magical bow on the roof.
"Do you think I'll let her climb on the roof, Karina?" Her father asked sarcastically.
But she remembered the arrow obeyed what she asked. So maybe it will follow her again in what she has to say. And she thinks she doesn't need to climb on the roof of their house anymore.
She raised her hand and opened her palm. She pointed it to the very roof of their house where her magical bow was. Her parents were stunned at what she had done. But she ignored them and she started calling her bow.
“My magical bow was created from the world of fairies. You used to belong to Damiaw, and he passed you on to his son, Diam! ”
"Halia!" Her mother called to her in trepidation, but she did not listen to her and she continued to holler calling the bow
“My grandfather Damato owned you before! And as your new owner! ”
“Halia! What are you doing!” Her mother kept shouting, seemingly scared of what she was doing.
"I swear to you, I will fulfill my mission in this world!" She continued hollering as she kept raising her hand to the magical bow.
"Oh my god, Halia!" Her mother was restless as she shouted in fear of her.
“And if it's true that I deserve you. Get back into my hand! ” her last word she yells and suddenly whereabouts the magical bow lit up.
Her parents' eyes widened as the arrow rose from the roof and suddenly returned to her hand. She smiled as she finally held it again. But what things were amazed them all was when the length of her hair grew even more, which was just a little over her shoulder before.
Her mother stared in shock as she looked at her mother too. Her hair grew to her waist and she turned even whiter. Her skin became smoother which added to her beauty.
After a while, she joyously touched her hair and looked at the skin in her arms.
“I told you, Father, Mother. I'm the one who owned this magical bow," she said gaily and looked at the magical bow she was holding.
