Chapter 45

“Kim!” Landon yelled kicking the door open and the door fell to the ground.
“Kim.” He called running to where she laid on the floor. Tears rolled down his eyes as he saw the state she was in. She wasn’t looking fine at all, and how come did he not notice she was going through some health issues.
“Kimberly what is going on?” he asked in a shaky voice, sitting next to where she laid and pulling her up. He made her rest her head in his arms and she held his hand trying to regain her strength.
“Landon I am good.” She said and he shook his head.
“No Kimberly, you are not. What is going on, tell me what is going on?” he said and she placed her hand on his face.
“No Landon, I am okay. You don’t have to worry.” She said and Landon lifted her and helped her lay on the bed.
“You can’t tell me that Kimberly.” He said and walked to where she left the drugs on the table.
“Landon.” She called weakly and he lifted the drugs and checked their names. They were in a bag and they were so many.
“What are these drugs for? Why are they so many?” he asked looking at Kimberly who was teary already.
“Ladies stuff Landon, please let me have them,” she said and Landon shook his head.
“No. I won’t until you tell me the ladies stuff, my girlfriend has been on drugs and I didn’t know until now? You almost died Kimberly, you almost died in my arms.” He mumbled in tears.
“Landon I am sorry.” She said and he nodded.
“I know you are, but I am going to find out what is going on.” He said sitting next to her and pulling out his phone.
“How are you feeling?” he asked looking at her and she held his hand.
“I am fine now. I should have taken the drugs earlier.” She said and he nodded slowly.
“Do you need anything? Like water? Juice?” he asked and Kimberly nodded.
“Yes, please. I need some juice.” She said and he nodded sadly.
“I will go get some, please stay right here.” He said and walked out of the room. She quickly packed the drugs he left on the bed and kept them in her closet.
She hoped he had forgotten about the medications.
“I knew I shouldn’t have fallen asleep in his arms. They were just too comforting.” She said in a sad tone and sighed.
Landon got to the kitchen and looked around before pulling out his phone. He already typed in the names of all the drugs he has found.
He went online and began to search for their uses. And then after making researches on three of the drugs, he found out that they are used for bad kidney management.
“What? She has a bad kidney?” he thought and then kept on searching more on them. Then he came across an article about a particular drug.
He clicked on it and began to read it inwardly.
Then it occurred to him that she had only one kidney because that particular drug is for patients with just a kidney.
“How is this possible? She was very okay when we first met.” He thought and then his brain took him back to when he was at the hospital.
When Kimberly wasn’t around for days, when his mother started acting strange and when Kim stopped her father from talking.
“Don’t tell me you did this Kimberly.” He thought as more tears rolled down his eyes. He carried the cup of juice and headed to the room deep in thoughts.
He opened the door and found her still laying on the bed. She looked at him and smiled, but when she saw his facial expression, she knew he knew something already.
He walked closer to her and dropped the cup on the side table.
“Thank you.” She said still trying to smile.
“Why did you do it?” he asked looking at her. She could see catarrh flow out from his nose. He was weeping seriously.
“Landon.” She called not knowing what to say.
“Tell me, Kimberly, why did you do it? And you decided to keep it from me?” he asked shutting his eyes in pain. He felt his body shivering.
“I love you Landon, I couldn’t watch you die.” She responded in tears.
“So you placed your life at risk knowing your other kidney isn’t working well? Why did you do this Kimberly?” he uttered.
He fell to the ground and held his head weeping profusely.
“I have done it, Landon. Believe me, I am fine. I would do just fine.” She said climbing down from the bed and hugging him.
“I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything happened to you, Kimberly.” He mumbled in her arms and she kissed his head in tears.
“You don’t have to feel guilty. I am happy I saved you, and I would be fine. I just need to take the medications on time.” She said and Landon raised his head to look at her.
She nodded trying to smile and held his face planting a kiss on his lips.
“I love you so much, Landon.” She said shutting her eyes and hugging him tightly again while he wept on her shoulder.
