At the New House After the Chief Priest left the hurt, they returned to their various apartments. Uju was delighted with the arrangement, and spoke, “This arrangement is good.” Her husband gave her a passionate kiss and commented, “I'm glad that you love it. I have a surprise for you.” “What is it, let's hear it,” the curious Uju requested. “Not now. You need to change your clothes and take your rest.” “I can't wait to hear it,” she responded joyfully and began to change. Nevertheless, Frank, who was shuttling between his father's and uncle's houses, returned to supervise the security guards. They opened the egress and ingress gate for him when he knocked and he walked in. “How is the work going?” He inquired cheerfully. “Fine,” they responded. “I love that. Thank you so much,” he said and walked away. The security guards exchanged glances, and Oliver laughed sarcastically and inquired, “Why do look at me?” “I don't understand these people anymore. Are you convinced that they did not intend to give me 'thank you' at the end of the day?” “As you can see, I am a fool for not asking for any payment. I suggest that you skin your own skunk,” Oliver sarcastically advised the disturbed Peter. At Evans' Apartment His wife and children were in their rooms trying to settle down while Evans chatted with the drivers on how to pick their friends and relatives from the airport and settle them in the hotels that were booked for them. “Good day, uncle,” Frank greeted, and took his seat. “Welcome, Frank. “How much did you agree to pay one of the security guards on duty now?” “Which of them, uncle?” He asked and looked at his phone to find out the people on duty. “I have Peter and Oliver on duty now.” “You are right. I don't want Peter to continue with the work. Pay him off after his work today.” “All right, uncle,” he accepted and smiled. “He made the highest request from others,” he pointed out. “With his repulsive behavior?” Evans asked said. At Callum's Apartment. He got into the house and met the children having their lunch, and he inquired, “Cynthia, I hope that you are aware that we have security guards?” “Yes, dad?” “That's good. Ensure that they have their food too.” “I did. One of…” “That good,” the excited Callum interrupted. “One of them did what?” Her mother asked. “It was only one person who collected the food. The other person rejected it.” Now, Cynthia's words portrayed the attitude the way he displayed it, and the parents did not find it acceptable. Then, Joe added, “One of them was arrogant when I took the watermelon to them.” With the evidences before him, Callum wished to know the repugnant guard. “What is the guard's name?” He asked. Not waiting for the response, he walked out of the gate to see the gate man. “Thank you, Sir,” Oliver, who was returning the plates to the kitchen, greeted. He was among the laborers who worked when the house was under construction and recognized Callum as the man who gave them tubers of yam some time ago. “You are welcome,” the sad Callum responded coldly and walked towards the gate. Fortunately, he met Frank coming out of Evans' house and stopped. “Frank, my children said that one of the guards rejected our food?” “Yes. I witnessed it,” Evans, who overheard him walked out of his house, confirmed. Nevertheless, Frank was not aware of Peter's offense and never bothered to ask. Now, he knew better. His in-laws or Uncle Emma would never work with anyone who detached himself or herself from the family. That explained why the maid played around as though she was one of the children. “Ensure that he leaves and never returns.” “I got it, uncle. Uncle Evans had instructed me on what to do.” “Better,” he said and walked towards the gate. “Don't bother yourself, uncle. I will handle it.” Callum, who wished to see the face of the person, who was too superior to collect food from his children, ignored him and walked on. Nevertheless, Frank walked after him while Evans joined his wife in the room. “Good afternoon,” Peter, who was the only one at the gate house, greeted indifferently. Callum sized him up and asked, “How is work?” “Fine,” he responded. “That is good. I hope you had your meal?” Nevertheless, Peter, who was afraid that his salary would be tampered with, thought that he inquired for the purpose of determining his salary defended with a shrugged shoulder, “Me? I have not eaten any food since I came here.” At this point, Oliver had joined them and Frank, who was beside Callum, shook his head in despondency. “I see. Why have you not eaten?” “I don't want,” he responded curtly. “It is okay,” Callum said and walked away, leaving Frank behind. Peter never thought that he was rude. He was just being proactive and allowed his survival instinct to override him. Although, he grew up in the same environment with Oliver, his lifestyle fitted properly into that environment and that was why he was preferred to Oliver. “How many hours more do you have left?” Frank asked. Before Oliver could answer, Peter spoke, “Three.” “It is all right,” Frank remarked, and walked away. “What is the matter, Peter?” Oliver inquired nervously. “Look at the trouble you almost landed me into. They thought I ate their food like you, and came to investigate.” “Food? When did food become a problem to our in-law?” “I have exonerated myself from your beggarly life. If you like, fall into their pot of food.” “Did I beg for food? Don't you think that it is rude to turn down such offers when you are in someone's house?” “Long-throat,” Peter snarled. Frank, who stayed back to ensure that his in-laws were not provoked further by the guard, returned to the gate after three hours and met Peter prepared to leave. “Where are you going, Peter?” “I'm on my way home. I have worked for eight hours.” “I see. What of you, Oliver?" “ I will wait for the next set of people.” Oliver responded. He actually wished to work with them because he could not go back home. Since he would be able to eat and take his bath at the beautiful English Man's bathroom, he would not mind hanging around.
