The Funeral 24

“That is part of the game plan,” Dickson teased. Before 6 PM, Ada, and her Siblings were through, and they hurried back to their apartments.
At the New House
They rushed into their rooms to take their bath and dress up in readiness to receive the money bag.
“What is the matter?” Callum, who suddenly woke up from sleep, inquired from his wife.
“Uncle Emma said that the money bag, who gave us this house, would visit this evening. We have just prepared the dinner.”
“What!” Callum exclaimed, and she mistook it for the surprise associated with the short notice.
“There's no cause for alarm, dear. We are ready to receive him,” she pacified, and walked into the bathroom. Now, he got off the bed and walked downstairs. He gargled with the water from the fridge and set out to Emma's compound. He was shocked when he saw that the compound was busy and stopped instantly.
“Kindly bring the cars to this end so that he would have a space for his cars,” Sarah, who was confident that the money bag would come with more than one car, instructed the children, who were on their toes.
Nevertheless, Oliver was helpful. He had the opportunity to leave the gatehouse for his colleagues, who concluded that he was detained because he did not do his work well. Sarah and Uju had ordered that the dinner tables and the chairs in the three apartments should be set outside.
“All right, Aunty,” Frank responded and walked into the houses one after the other. When the speechless Callum found his bearings, without uttering a word, he walked to Emma's compound.
At Emma's Hut
“My in-law, what is going on? What did you tell my wife?” He asked the confused Emma. In response to his question, he mourned his lost.
“They slaughtered my goat to entertain the money bag that never existed.” Now, Dickson laughed his head off, and it infected Callum, especially when he saw the helplessness on Emma's face. He laughed uncontrollably. At that point, Evans and Fredrick walked in. They had checked on Callum in his apartment for an explanation, and when they could not find him, they resolved to check on him at the hut. Nevertheless, they were surprised to see him laughing hysterically when the house was on fire.
“My in-laws, kindly take your seats,” the perplexed Emma offered. Then, the amazed In-laws took their seats and waited for an explanation.
“Your wives killed my biggest goat to appreciate the invisible money bag,” Emma cried out.
At that moment, Evans and Fredrick got the picture of the situation and had many things to laugh about. The look on his face and the story made them to join in the fun. Thereafter, Dickson, who got tired of laughing, said, “We will have a lot to celebrate with.”
"You are right. With my in-law's biggest goat,” Evans joked.
At the Dinner Table
At 7 PM, the game planners walked to the new house and met the long dinner table with assorted food and wine. They took their seats according to their families. Afterward, their mothers and Frank took their seats, and they were left with only two empty seats.
“We will need more chairs,” Ada made clear.
“Yes. When we have the people to occupy them. For now, let us start eating.” Uncle Emma settled.
The family ate happily. Meanwhile, the drivers and Barry were not left out. At that moment, Oliver had pitched his tent around them and had his fill too.
“He is taking long,” Uju remarked, after she looked at her phone for the time.
Now, everyone was satisfied and waited patiently for the money bag. Now, the unshakable Emma responded, “Don't bother yourself, my daughter, he is here already.”
The excited daughters looked at the gate at once, and the children were not left out. Now, the husbands sipped the wine and waited for the shocker.
“Where is he?” Ada asked, while Sarah had the same askance expression. Now, Emma dropped his glass of wine and spoke, “My daughters, the money bag are the men, who your father offended greatly, but they chose to forgive him and make his daughters proud. These men resolved that you will not be humiliated again, just as he humiliated them when they married you.”
At that moment, Emma paused and waited for their reactions, and Sarah was the first to react.
“Uncle, are you saying that the money bag is our husbands. They are the ones who married us?” She asked innocently.
Now, the picture was clearer, and the look on their husbands' faces betrayed them.
“You are correct, my daughter. I am proud of your husbands. Their forgiving and team spirit are apt. They made me proud. Despite how my brother humiliated them at one time or the other, they put up this edifice in his memory, just to make his daughters proud.” With the revelation, the children, who were through with their meal, ran off to the house in excitement, leaving their bewildered mothers.
“Hey,” Ada screamed aloud and looked into her husband's eyes.
“My hero. My King. My pillar me. The man who loves me unconditionally.” She held her husband's hand and sang his praise. Now, her eyes were moist, just like Callum, who restrained himself from tearing up. Then, he squeezed her hand and whispered, “You deserve more than this, my dear.”
Likewise, mama and Obidiya were tearing up. Frank, who was not part of the game plan, was excited. He was not aware that it was kept away from his sisters.
“Congratulations, aunties. I did not experience how he treated other in-laws, but I could remember vividly how he treated Uncle Evans, which was to my advantage. Thank you, our in-laws.”
“You are welcome, Frank.”
Nevertheless, Sarah was touched. Despite her father's plans against her husband, he chose to make her proud. She looked at her husband and appreciated, “I'm proud to be your wife. Thank you, my husband.”
Evans rubbed her back and admitted, “You are welcome, my dear. You are my chief support all these years. I don't know where I would have been without you.”
