29 Gift
“Really, Sharmienne?” He bit his lower lip and wet it with his tongue. He looks so sexy that I gasped while staring at his pinking lips right now. “You’ll ask me that after you stole a kiss from me?”
He pulled me closer to him until I felt his body against mine. His unclothed upper body feels warm against my skin and it feels like scorching me. His grasp on my waist tightens and grabs both of my legs to put on his waist too. Now his hand is supporting my back at the same time holding my butt as he carries me.
I shrieked at how his hand was playing on my back and drawing circles on it. I held onto both of his shoulders and leveled his eyes that looked at me with ferocity in it. Gosh! He looks so handsome up close. He’s even clenching his jaw as he steps towards the large window here in our room.
“Denver…” I felt the rays of sunlight against my skin as we were both in front of the window. There was actually a veranda outside. “Put me down.”
“No, unless I get a refund,” he smirks and pinned me onto the closed window. I gulped at how he looked at me. There was a mix of annoyance and amusement, but he was concealing that with the avaricious smirk he plastered on his lips. “You’re really unpredictable, wife.”
“You didn’t even want to talk with me for weeks,” I mumbled as I stared at him. “It’s better if…”
“No.” He pursed his lips. “That’s my answer.”
“But… you hate me.”
He sighed and didn’t deny it. Instead, he slowly put me down and caressed my shoulders down to my arms as if assuring me something. I got a bad feeling about his gestures. “We had a problem. About your company.”
“What is it?” I asked as uneasiness crept into my system as I removed his hands from my arms. “Tell me.”
“Your uncle is persistent.” That’s all he said before he gave me a peck on my cheeks. He fondled it with his calloused hands and smiled at me. “We’ll enjoy your vacation here, hmm?”
It was obvious that he didn't want to tell me more information about what was going on in our company. I started to be curious about how he managed it. He got busy and here I was, more concerned about his action and my feelings for him. But even if I interfere with it, I don’t think I can help them. Even Carmienne didn’t open up the issue about it.
At least for now, I diverted the topic about him being a gangster and his gang. I’m afraid that he might notice that I’ve been acting strange lately. The ‘annulment thing’ was all part of Carmienne’s plan that I should do to assess Denver’s patience. I don’t even know what she desired to know. She’s been tenacious to even make up this plan she had.
We ate our lunch at one of the houses here. They served delectable food here. I enjoyed it, especially Denver who had more than two servings. While Carmienne and Kian were nowhere to be found. All I could remember was spending time with Denver the entire afternoon. It felt good being along with him. We strolled the white sand while holding hands. Few people are looking at us, especially Denver who’s just wearing a black sleeveless shirt paired with board shorts and flip-flops. He really looks good even in simple clothes.
“Did you prepare your things before you got here?” I asked as the seawater touched my feet. a smile crept on my lips at how cold it was. The sun is about to set, and it was a perfect time to watch it with him.
I glanced at Denver who was unexpectedly looking at me. He was eyeing me with the stoic face he always has. Orange hues complemented the features he had as he faced me. The wind sways his hair as he stands in front of me.
“I was scared, Sha,” he uttered. I furrowed my eyebrows as that wasn’t the answer that I expected from him.
“Huh?”
He chuckled before he shook his head and avoided his gaze. “No, I didn’t prepare any. I went here as soon as Carmienne told me you were here.”
“Carmienne told you?”
I thought that we won’t tell Denver about this vacation. She even told me that we need to test my husband’s patience. Oh… is this also part of her scheme?
“I don’t have any choice, you shut down your phone,” he reasoned out. I bit my lower lip and didn’t respond to him as I felt guilty. “She told me ‘things’ that you’ve been keeping for yourself lately.”
“It’s nothing, really,” I muttered as I watched the sunset. “It’s already done. What’s important is that I am here with you.”
I am afraid of this. The feeling of being dependent on him. The familiar feeling that keeps me from wanting to be with him more. To spend more time with my husband. It’s terrifying to know that all of these might come to an end.
“Remember the first time I watched the sunset with you?” I asked as I reminisced about that moment. His grip on my hand tightens in response. I glimpsed at him. I smiled as I saw him also watching the darkness slowly covering the blue sky. It was a beautiful sight, indeed. “You look annoyed when you bring me to watch the sunset on the seaside.” I chuckled.
“I heard a guy’s voice while I was talking to you on the phone,” he uttered. Oh, that was the reason? I giggled. That was the time Kian shouted to bid goodbye to me. I wasn’t able to explain that to Denver as he was quiet the whole ride. “How do you expect me to react?”
“That was Kian.”
“Tsk,” he sneered.
“Are you jealous?” I mumbled to myself, but I think Denver heard it.
“Nope.” He even emphasized the ‘p’ sound and even shook his head. Though his tone raised. “I am not.”
“If you say so,” I said, chuckling. The sun set already yet we are still standing in our position as if we do not have any plan on moving. The breeze feels calming though I didn’t get into the sea to swim. I was with Denver the whole afternoon. “You want to swim?”
“Hmm,” he hummed. “How about you?”
I nodded. “Can I?”
His stares at me deepened. His hold on my hand loosened and slowly let go of it. I smiled before I dipped my feet in the seawater. It was cold. I walked for a few steps before I felt Denver behind me. When I glanced at him, his sleeveless shirt was already on the sand, leaving him half-naked. His six-pack abs were displayed. And even the lights from the houses, it looks like they were shining as his body glistened with the seawater.
“Gotcha.” He snaked his arm on my waist as he walked farther from the shore. I chuckled as he kept on walking while I couldn't even reach the ground. I chose to hold his shoulders again until we stopped, already away from the shore.
“It’s so deep, Denver.” It was a weird feeling to be too close to him. I can’t help but gasp every time his finger is playing and drawing random shapes on my back. I always flinched. “I want a dip.”
“Okay.”
He chuckled before we were both submerged in the water. I immediately close my eyes as my grip tightens on his shoulders. Denver was still supporting me with his hold until he lifted me. He wiped the beads of water shrouded on my face. I grinned as I immediately saw the playful smile plastered on his face.
“That was fun!” I laughed my heart out. “Let’s try it again. Please…”
“Sure, wife.” He chuckled and did what I requested.
We did it a couple of times before I let go of his shoulders to swim away from him after he removed his grip on my waist. He ascended first so I got my time to swim farther from where we are. I almost got out of breath, so I went up next but the first thing I saw was Denver swimming toward me.
He rose in front of me and the next thing I felt was his lips on mine while caging me into his arms. He held both of my cheeks before he moved his lips and deepened his kisses. I was captured and mesmerized as I let myself savor his lips on mine. His kisses were fierce and needy but mixed with care and longing. I responded with the same aggression and ferocity which made Denver smirk.
His lips went down my neck and stopped there. He gave me little kisses and it felt ticklish. I felt his breath on my collarbone and brushed his lips down my shoulder. I gripped his hair as I can’t describe the feelings I felt because of his kisses and touch.
“D-denver…” I huffed as I muttered his name. He quelled after that and held me closer to him. He wrapped his arms instead and hugged me after what we just did.
“Let’s go, my wife,” he whispered in my ear. I nodded before he carried me towards the shore. His hands were supporting my back and my waist as I wrapped my legs around his waist. I put my head on his shoulders as I felt embarrassed. Even with the night breeze, I can feel my cheeks flush.
I felt Denver’s chest move as he chuckled. “Don’t worry, young lady. We will do more than that after you graduate,” he uttered playfully before planting a kiss on my temple. “This is just a gift.”Download Novelah App
