DEVON Theo and I stood directly in front of the window with my hands in his. Strips of moonlight reflected through the window and into my bedroom, casting a pale glow on our skin. I gazed into Theo's beautiful eyes, my heart fluttering. "You ready?" He asked. "Yeah" I said and he grinned. The cool breeze ruffled his unbound hair, gently. He joined our hands together and then, something happened. The light from the moon illuminated our hands just as a golden mist, circled our hands. "Wow" I breathed. "Is Theo actually your real name?" I asked and he smirked. "I guess you're about to find out" he said to me. The moonlight and the golden mist around our hands became multicolored. It was breathtaking. I felt a tingle all over me with a burst of happiness. It truly felt right. I've never been so sure. "By the fates, I, Daeron Zrēlyen accept you, Devon Bradley as my true soulmate" he said, gazing into my eyes. "By the fates, I, Devon Bradley accept you, Daeron Zrēlyen as my true soulmate" I said, my heart beating faster. Two silver rings appeared in our open palms. I gasped, gazing at the two doves imprinted on the rings. Nervously, I picked up the first one and started to slip it onto his finger. "Relax, love. Take your time" he whispered in my ear. I blushed hard and slipped it on his unoccupied finger. He picked up the second ring and slipped it onto my index finger. "You're mine" he whispered. "I'm yours" I replied, my lips meeting his. I felt another tingle and I pulled away enough to look at the golden mist swirling around my body. I felt a dull ache just below my collarbone. When I moved the collar of my shirt, I noticed the new rune that was gleaming brightly on my skin. "It's beautiful" I whispered, tracing the delicate design. "I wanna see yours" I said to him and he moved his shirt down. His rune was the same as mine and was located just below his collar bone. "So, we're married now?" I teased, gazing at my ringed finger. "Not exactly. Think of this as your engagement" he said and I chuckled. "Right. For a moment there, I feared that I was going to pronounce your last name wrongly" I said and he laughed. "Well you didn't" he said, drawing me into his arms. I closed my eyes, the scent of lemons filling my nostrils. I was falling for him. I think I might have actually falling in love with him then. ★★★★★★★ LUKE Amyra and I walked hand in hand into my room as we conversed animatedly. I must say, she looked gorgeous in her peach dress and thigh high boots. "I live alone. Apparently, I never met my mum. My dad found the portal that would take me to earth when I was ten. I don't know how I survived but I knew I had to be tough" Amyra said to me, shrugging. I smiled, shutting the door behind us. "So, what do you wanna do?" I asked. "Watch a movie? Preferably a scary one" she said and I chuckled. "Why a scary movie?" "I'm not afraid of horror movies but my plan is to pretend that I'm scared....so that you will hold me" she said. "Well, now I know you're a total badass and a great actress" I said, taking off my shirt. Our date had been better than I'd expected. And that's something. "My dress is not exactly comfy.... can I borrow one of your shirts?" She asked and I handed her one of my T-shirt. She grinned and went into the bathroom. By the time she stepped out, I was wearing just a pair of sweatpants and my hair was in a bun. She'd apparently gotten rid of her make up but still looked absolutely breathtaking. We decided to watch 'Dracula'. She squealed each time there was a scene with lots of blood. I held her close, fighting the urge to laugh. She was such a great actress. You would totally assume that she was truly scared. I watched her when she wasn't looking. Her lashes were so long, her eyes so beautiful. She caught me ogling her. "Take a picture, it'll last longer" she said, grinning at me. "I don't want a picture" I said and she smirked, straddling me. "Well, here I am" she said, her lips meeting mine. She was definitely trying to get me to loose control. She was doing a great job at it. I let out a sigh when she began to nibble on my neck, gently. "We've got to stop" I said, breathlessly. "No, I don't want to" she whined. Her lips met mine again, fiercely. I was probably so lost in the moment that I didn't even notice my bracelet glowing. Her fingers sank into my hair and I could feel the bun coming loose. When we finally pulled apart for air, it was then I noticed that my bracelet was glowing. "Let me guess... the hexagon?" She asked, tucking her hair behind her ears. "Yeah" I replied. "That's so not fair" she groaned, rolling to the other side of my bed. "I'm sorry, Amyra. But I really have to go" I said, kissing her head. "Why can't you just skip today?" "You know I can't do that" I said, gazing into her eyes, solemnly. "Fine. Go away. You're no fun" she said and turned away from me. "Come on, Amyra. You can't seriously be mad at me" I sighed. "I'm not mad at you. You should go. You're running late" she said and I groaned. "I'll make it up to you" I said. "You better" I got dressed and headed straight to the Hexagon's HQ. "You're three minutes late, Lucian" Thane said, leaning back on his seat. "I'm sorry" I said and he shrugged. "Sit" I sat down slowly. "Where's Theo at the moment?" He asked. That was definitely a trick question. "I really don't know. At a bar maybe" I said and he frowned. That's clearly not the answer he was expecting. "You sure?" He asked. "I told you I'm not really sure" I said through gritted teeth. He chuckled. "I bet he's having a nice time with the ladies" he said, amusement dancing in his eyes. I decided to play along. "He hasn't gotten laid for a long time... he's always too moody and salty. I'm sure he'll arrive with a smile on his face" I said and Thane laughed. "Nice one. He's free to enjoy himself once in a while. I suppose, there's no harm in that. Four mundanes were murdered yesterday in the evening. Can you tell me if your friend has something to do with it?" He said. I was definitely not expecting the sudden change of topic. "I assure you, he has nothing to do with it. I was with him yesterday." I said. Thane stroked his goatee thoughtfully. "You know, there's an assumption that your friend actually murdered Dwain" Thane said, gazing into my eyes steadily. Show no emotion, I warned myself. With my face expressionless, I leaned back on my seat. "How is that even possible?" I asked. "We both know that Theo is hiding something. Something that explains why he's so strong. I can't prove that he murdered Dwain......Yet". He said and my heart sank. "I'm afraid he's too powerful for any of us here. That's why I trust you enough not to tell your friend about what I'm about to say. If you do, you'll be risking the lives of your loved ones" he said, a malicious smile on his face. I felt my fists clench. "The hexagon is planning to find out if he's responsible for the recent demon summons and death of mundanes. We also want to dig deeper to discover his true identity. And, you will be helping us. If he's found guilty, he'll be rejected as one of us. Every protection he gets from the hexagon will be removed. He'll probably be arrested and taken to the Skull city for the rest of his life" My heart sank and deep down, I knew that a storm was brewing. **************** THEO Devon and I took a walk to the park with our fingers entwined. We were practically on an ice cream date and Devon was all smiles. She was glowing. "This is perfect" Devon moaned as she scooped more ice cream and shoved it into her mouth. I chuckled. "The ice cream?" I asked and she shook her head. "Us" she replied, gazing into my eyes. She's so perfect, I wouldn't have asked for anything less. "You're beautiful" I said, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "You're beautiful too, Theo" "It just occurred to me right now, that I don't even know when your birthday is coming up" she said when we finally sat down on an unoccupied bench in the park. "It's not relevant, Dev" "Why?" "I have never celebrated my birthday. I mean, it's not a big deal. Why should I celebrate the day my mother gave birth to me and rejected me?" I said and her gaze softened, her hand resting on my knee. "A woman who would reject her own child is not a mother and I'm so sorry that happened to you. I've come into your life to stay. I'm determined to give you the happiness you deserve" I gave her a smile, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "Come on, tell me when it is" she said, pouting. "1st of May" I said. "Oh, I can't wait to give you a befitting birthday celebration" she said and I rolled my eyes. "I told you. There's really no need for that" "Stop whining about that. I've made up my mind" she said, laughing. "Uurgh-fine" "Come here, you big baby" she said and I raised a brow. She chuckled and embraced me. "You looked like you needed a hug" she said, kissing my jaw. I closed my eyes, reveling in the feel of her lips against my skin. "Thanks" I said and she rubbed my back. "You're welcome, Theo" "Come on, let's get going. It's about to rain" I said. She pouted and held my hand. "But, I wanted to stay in the park a little bit more" "I don't want you to catch a cold" I said. As if on cue, the rain came pouring down. We began to walk away from the park. I almost bumped into a girl who was wearing a punk outfit. She made eye contact with me briefly before walking away. I must've imagined it, but I think her eyes were red and black. My stomach churned and I suddenly felt light headed. I turned to look at the girl once more but she was gone. "What's wrong?" Devon asked. "It's nothing. I just felt a little dizzy" I said and she furrowed her brows. As quickly as the lightheadedness had come, it disappeared. "Was it something to do with that girl?" She asked and I stared at her. "We're bonded now, remember? I can basically hear your thoughts" "Oh, I'm fine. You don't have to worry" I said. She relaxed and started to kick at the puddles of water. "I love the rain" Devon gushed, twirling around in the rain. I groaned and took off my coat. "You're going to catch a cold" I said and she shrugged. "I don't really care. I just want to be here...with you" "I know" I said "You can't catch me!" She said and ran off. My jaw dropped. No way. She did not just run off. Smirking, I appeared right in front of her. She gasped. "Gotcha!" I said and she pouted. "That's not fair!" I laughed, twirling her around. She giggled, her wet hair framing her beautiful face. She put on my coat and kissed me. She tasted like vanilla and she smelt of lavender and rain. Her fingers snaked into my hair, her other hand resting on my chest. I suddenly didn't care any longer. It felt like it was just the two of us in our own world. One hand rested on her waist as I cupped her face. She's definitely a sight for sore eyes. Exquisite. She's my exquisite queen. "You've certainly made my day, Theo" she said, breathlessly. "Me too" I whispered. I was chilled to the bones but none of that mattered. And Perhaps if I'd looked closely, I would've noticed the pair of haunting yellow eyes watching us.
