" Why?" Jeff asked sternly.
Carl didn't even mind him.
"Let's open a restaurant Kim" he said with a smile.
" How is that in line with your profession?" Kim asked.
She knew he was just pulling her legs. The Devikings already have turns of five star hotels and they have exquisite restaurants in them.
"It doesn't matter" he said.
"She's not interested" Jeff snapped.
"And how did you know that?" Kim murmured.
She wondered why he is getting so worked up over a joke.
Jeff dashed her a stern look.
"She might be" Lucy was the one who talked now.
They all looked at her. They knew she has nothing to offer Kim than to insult her.
"Isn't she a maid before now?" She said with hint of mockery.
Everywhere quieted down. It was as if the world came to a stop. Everyone became so unhappy at her words. Kim bit her lower lip and tried to calm down.
Her past wasn't fun at all and the Devikings had help her in forgetting she had one but with Lucy's words now, it came all rushing back with so much pain.
Kim braced herself up she wouldn't let Lucy get her this night. She was too strong for her to beat.
"No qualms. I'm just saying that since she's used to all those hard life of a maid, she could easily become a cook in a restaurant without feeling any stress" Lucy said with a sweet smile.
She was enjoying the look on Kim. She wanted all she had. She felt it was all hers before Kim came out of no where to snatch it away with pretentious innocence. She also wanted Jeff to be reminded that Kim is a stain on his personality.
They all glared at her words.
"Yeah I don't feel stressed at all when cooking and I enjoy it more" Kim said with a smile.
No one expected her to reply. They knew how bad Lucy's words hurt her.
"At least been a maid show and taught me a lot of things. I learnt how to be independent when things seems so uncomfortable and I don't covet what is not mine and I also learn to mind my business" she added with a shaccarine smile.
Everyone looked at Lucy with pity because Kim's words was just a beautiful insult. Lucy frowned but quickly replace it with a smile.
"But don't you feel so embarrassed at times when you are in the public?" Lucy asked not giving up.
The meal was starting to go awkward and annoying. Dean wanted to talk but when his wife saw this she quickly stopped him. She wanted Kim to defend herself against the uninvited one and she saw that she was doing a good job.
Kim grinned.
"Why should I?" She asked nonchalantly.
"I mean... You know? You being a maid" she said intentionally stressing the maid.
Kim chuckled.
"I don't think so" she shook her head.
Lucy gave a frown. She wondered if she Kim had a heart. She is supposed to feel so embarrassed but now it looks like she was enjoying the conversation.
"I would have felt so embarrassed when I see others especially those that know I was a maid before if I were in your shoes" she said to taunt her the more.
She knew nobody would be called a maid and not be pained, that was why she was really mentioning the word maid emphatically.
Kim knew her plan and she would never let her win. If not that her parent died she wouldn't have been caught up with the tragedy of her life.
"The last time I checked I'm the most enviable lady is this country. What all the most beautiful ladies want I have it. I'm a Queen among all. I think it is the beautiful princess who needs to be embarrassed because she lost to the maid. What a tragic insult that a maid was able to get what the princess has been working so hard for years to get. The princess had sleepless nights, she had to watch her eating habit just to be perfect but then, in just a jiffy ugly maid came and. Took it all without stress. I really pitied the princess because all her toil is all gone to vain but I'm happy for the maid to have won without lifting a finger. Then tell me sis, who is the to be embarrassed? The princess that lost or the maid that became the Queen?" Kim said in a very friendly manner.
Lucy felt so embarrassed that tears were slowly gathering to her eyes. She knew everything Kim said was speaking to her. She wished to disappear because the Devikings now gave her a pitiable look. How she hated Kim the more right now. She couldn't even say a word to everything she has said.
Lucy knew Kim was so right when she mean she is now a Queen among the ladies. No Devikings male has gotten married except for Jeff. Every lady wants to be in Kim's shoes including her.
Jeff looked at Kim with an indifferent look so this made Kim think he was angry.
"She shouldn't have try to disgrace me" she thought defensively.
