I sat at a bean bag all by myself as the memories of my mom flooded my mind. Tears stung my eyes whenever I remembered her, it was something I never want to remember. Flashback: I held Julie's hand as we walked into our apartment, my eyes met dad kneeling beside my mom, my eyes squint when they met the bloodstain on her dress, dad was crying, and he occasionally removes his hand from the spot where she had been shot, and whenever he does that, more blood gushes out. My hand left Julie's and I ran. I scrambled to her side, my eyes wide with fear. "Dad, what happened?. Why's mom shot?. What's going on?." I rained questions at my dad. Mom grabbed my shirt and said, "Vanora, you..you must take care of yourself. You must be alive, promise me that." "M..om. Don't say anymore, there's no time to waste, dad we must move her to the hospital now." I screamed and tried to get up from the tiled floor. My mom drew me down to herself, she wants to speak but blood gushes out of her mouth. She inhaled and said, "It's t..oo l..ate. You..mu..st live." She stuttered and stiffened. "I'm sorry that I had to leave this way. Forgive me." Tears rolled down my eyes freely, I sniffed and held her hand. Minutes passed and we stayed that way, until her hand started to get cold. She was not breathing or blinking, she was looking at me with lifeless eyes. "No," I screamed. "Dad, she can't die like this. Don't tell me she just died." Slowly, dad left mom's body and got up, he walked out on us. "Mom, please, you must live. You can't die, pls mom, wake up." I cried. …… I was sixteen, and Julie was 10. It was those men that I saw driving off. I had seen them driving out, they were dangerous and armed. I saw the man's hand, he had a tattoo on his wrist, a broken love-inked tattoo around his wrist. He was one of them. "Hey, you okay?." A voice tucks me out of my thoughts as I look up at Alec. He handed me a glass of wine and went to sit on the other bean bag. I grabbed the glass and mumbled, "Sure yeah." He smiles, displaying his dimples. I also have a dimple, deeper ones. "Are you okay?" I asked him after a short while of silence. He had his hand trailing around the top of the glass unconsciously. He looked at me, "Better than you." He replied and sipped from his glass. I laughed. There was silence until he said. "I'm now convinced." Confusion crosses my face, "Convinced about what?." "That you're not her." He breathed, "Finally, there's something you have that doesn't remind me of her." "What?." I was amused, my eyes were twirling around him, a laugh played by the side of my lip, waiting for me to burst. I do not know why I found it amusing but, if they said someone looked like me, they should show me who. I do not care what she means to them. "She doesn't have dimples." He replied, I bent down and smiled, flashing my white set of teeth at him. I sipped my wine again and relaxed, "It's not like I wanted to know who she is, actually the more you talked about her, the more it fascinates me. Now tell me, where can I meet her myself?." He looked at me, eyeballs to eyeballs, and answered, "She's dead." My mouth clamped shut instantly. She died, too bad. "Sorry about her," I told him and looked away. It isn't the best topic right now. "Anita was fine, fun, cool, hot-headed, she was crazily beautiful just like you." He looked up. "When I saw her, she was the most beautiful woman, my heart longed for her, we were very much in love. I and Zavi were in love with her." My eyes twitched when I heard Zavi's name. "Really?. You both were in love with her." "Yeah. But she loved Zavi. Yeah, I did nothing. Zavi was my brother, and I did nothing because it was not me. It's not me that she was in love with. For as long as she was happy with him, I was okay." Well, I haven't fallen in love before, I do not know how it feels. "But after she died, did you find out what killed her?." I licked my lips, he hesitated to speak but grumpily stated, "No." Interesting. "Why?. You don't want to find out?." "I knew what happened, I killed her." I froze. It was the last answer I had expected. "And he never forgave me after that. We were brothers but he didn't forgive me after I killed her. We never spoke about it and it was forgotten. But she remained in our hearts." I sighed and finished the wine, "So, you killed my doppelganger that you loved, why would you kill someone you love?." "I was going to die. He had no choice." A deep familiar voice said from behind us and I turned to see Zavi. We locked eyes for a while, I felt hot inside. Well, I was in between two hottest men in the world. I huffed. "Where can I get more bottles?." I asked Alec. "You don't want to get drunk before we get to the party, Ms Campbell." I smirked, "You know me, I can handle six bottles of this," I waved the empty bottle at him. "I know that but you won't like my business associates knowing my shield is a loose drunkard by profession." I glare at him. Douchebag. I looked at the wall clock. 6:09 pm. "We'll live by 7." He moved out of the house and I turned to Alec who had been quiet all through the time I exchanged words with Zavi. "Why are you different?." I asked him. "Because my dad was different from his dad." He shrugged. I laughed. Very cute. "Tell me more. Haven't you found someone else who you could share your feelings with?." He got up, "I just found." His back faces me as he picks up the glasses and bottle from the carpet. "Who?." He didn't reply and walked out of the sitting room. I shook my head at that poor soul. If he'd loved that girl the way I loved my mom, and killed her because that douche bag was going to die, he must be loyal to him. Imagine killing someone you love, and care about, I will live my entire life regretting why I lived. ….. Vote, like and comment. Do you like Alec?. Choose between Zavi and Alec
