Sunshine and Treasure

After Henry and Harriet agreed to get married, they sought their parents’ consent, and when they got it, they began to prepare for the wedding ceremony. As Henry promised Harriet's parents, on Monday, they went to the court to begin their wedding processes. Now, after he filed for that, and obtained a date, he went back to his boss, and greeted, “Good day, boss.”
“Good to see you, Henry. What brings you?”
“I have come as I promised to inform you of the new date for my wedding,” he informed with a smile. The boss took a deep breath, and pointed out, “That is good. Why did you reschedule it?”
“Nothing serious, boss. My fiancée found a better person and jilted me,” Henry informed without emotions. The boss nodded his head in sympathy, and said, “That is too bad. I rejoice with you for taking it in your stride.”
“Thank you, boss.” Henry appreciated. Now, the boss looked into his eyes and saw true happiness and declared, “She was not your wife. It was better that she left before the marriage.”
“I agree with you, boss.”
“You will find all the joy and peace that you need in your wife.”
“I appreciate your wishes, boss.”
“If I may ask, who did your ex marry? I wish to know the young man that would be better than you.”
Now, Henry smiled broadly, and said, “I would not know for now, unless she is arraigned again by the police, I would not know who she married.”
“Arraigned by the police? What do you mean, Henry?”
“Like I said, I don't know much about her where about, apart from when they were paraded by the police as criminals.”
“What are you talking about, Henry? Was she one of the ladies who were paraded on the television for kidnapping, and murder attempt?”
“Yes, boss.”
“You are a lucky one. Flaunt your wedding ceremony as much as you like. You have my support.”
“Thank you, boss.”
“You can leave.”
“Thank you, Sir.”
From the look of things, there may not be a hall in Dover that would accommodate Henry's and Harriet's wedding. Nevertheless, the Senior Knight was not relenting, Sir Relish was on his toes to ensure that the wedding never took place. His claim was simple. Sir Taylor and his son should join forces with him to secure his daughter's freedom.
“Does it mean that your son never loved my daughter? How can she be in trouble, and your son would not show concern?” He pointed out during one of his phone calls to Sir Taylor. Nevertheless, Sir Taylor rubbed it in, and said, “Sir Relish, carry your cross,” and cut the call on him, and he pushed the Knight further into aggression.
Now, the Council of Knights was divided. Some of his fellow knights were sympathetically on his side, and they began to campaign against the marriage. Nevertheless, they started by trying to dissuade Hon. David from giving out his daughter. One day, he got a three-man delegate to his house, but they were not familiar faces. Therefore, he received them in the porch, and greeted, “Welcome to my home. May I have the privilege of meeting you, gentlemen.”
“Thank you, Honorable. We may not be your close friends, but we are concerned friends. You were good to us, and we would not watch your family make a costly mistake, and not speak out.”
“Thank you for coming. May I hear what your missions are?”
“Thank you once again for this opportunity, Honorable. We learned that your only child and daughter is getting married.”
“You are right. I'm glad that you are. You are cordially invited,” Hon. David said with glee. Then, one of the guests spoke, “We would have accepted the invitation if your son-in-law to be is a responsible man.”
Now, the Honorable's face beamed, and another guest spoke, “Have you bothered to find out why he called off the wedding between him, and his former fiancée. I expected that you should have investigated properly before giving your approval to the marriage.”
“Are you in any way saying that he called off his wedding with a lady?”
“Certainly. After he lured her into a crime, he sneaked out of it and called off the marriage.”
“That is too bad. Thank you for the information. I will look into the matter.”
“We are delighted to hear that. We should be on our way.”
“It's all right. By the way, what do I offer you?”
“Never mind, Honorable. Take care,” they said in unison and got up. The grateful Hon. David walked them to the gate and they left. He returned to the house and gave his daughter a call at once. She could not pick because she was busy with her business. When she was a bit free, she returned her father's call, and he anxiously picked. “Harriet," he yelled angrily.
“Good day, dad. Is anything the matter?”
“I wish to see you and Henry this evening.”
“All right father. I hope there is no problem?”
Cut. He cut the call on her, and she was disoriented. At that time, she could not concentrate on anything.
“What could be the matter? He had never addressed him as Henry, but son,” she pondered. Then, she decided to give Henry a call but thought otherwise.
“I will see him at once,” she concluded, and excused herself. Instead of driving under that condition, she boarded a cab to her house. Now, her mother was back, and she was surprised to see her at home.
“Harriet, what happened? Why did you come back now?”
Harriet was confused the more, and she simply asked, “Mom, where is dad?”
“I am just coming in, and I have not set my eyes on him. Is anything the matter?”
Suddenly, her father got to the parlor and thundered, “Harriet, how much do you know about that criminal that you introduced to us as your husband?”
Now, Harriet and her mother showed shock, and Harriet asked, “Dad, did you just call my husband a criminal?”
“Yes. You have to put the marriage on hold until we carry out a thorough investigation on him. Period,” her father thundered and took his seat.
“Take it easy, hubby,” his wife said, and turned to Harriet and advised, “Put yourself together, my dear. We shall get to the root of it.”
Presently, Harriet's tears were flowing freely, and she was inconsolable. When she found her bearings, she turned, and went back to her restaurant. Subsequently, she sent a message to Henry. (My Treasure, kindly pick me up after work. Your Sunshine.) Henry read the message and replied at once.
(Consider it done, my Sunshine. Your Treasure.)
At Henry's House
He got off work at 4 PM and headed to her restaurant. To his shock, he met a distressed Harriet in her office. Then he inquired, “What is the matter, my Sunshine?”
She forced a smile and, requested, “Take me to your house.”
“It is all right, if that is what you want.”
She picked her purse and took a step, but Henry halted her, and said, “Put yourself together, my dear.”
Harriet ran her hand through her hair and adjusted it before they left. Soon they were at Henry's house. He held her closer and felt her heart beating very fast, and he was disturbed.
“My Sunshine, kindly talk to me. What is troubling you?”
