"Are you alright, Kaoree?" Wanwan asked, her gaze fixed on my foot.
When he kicked it, it swelled up from the force. I can still feel the sting of it. I fear I won't be able to sleep tonight because of this.
"Of course, this is not a wound. Don't worry." I didn't want her to feel awful about herself, so I told a lie despite how much it was hurting.
"You're incredibly lucky! You were even carried by T. H.!" Melissa tapped me on the shoulder
A few minutes after the nurse put a bandage on my foot, someone called and T. H. had to go. I was left here with Wanwan, Melissa, and Marcus, who is currently occupied with Mobile Legends.
"I'm really sorry, Kaoree. I had no intention of kicking your foot." Wanwan sneered.
"It's nothing! I was aware that it was an accident."
I stood up after a few minutes when the nurse in charge of me came in. She was talking with T. H, maybe about my condition
T. H helped me stand up. He looked at Wanwan with furrowed brows, as if he wasn't pleased to see her. I used my body to block their view of each other.
"T.H." I warned him because Wanwan seemed frightened already.
We continued walking until we came upon Marcus, who was standing at the door. There was also Latrelle, who was having a conversation with Sasha. They were laughing when we saw them.
His polo shirt was a little creased, and his necktie was positioned incorrectly. He looks really attractive and sexy, which may explain why several people passing by were staring at him.
But of course, T. H owns the spotlight. There was a group of girls who were looking at us and whispering, but it was evident that they want me to hear what they were saying.
"Who is that girl?"
"Nobody even knows her. She thinks she's beautiful because T. H helped her."
"Yah! My guess is that, right now, she's not even hurting. She's just overreacting, so T. H would help her." The girl with a red lipstick and a clip even looked at my foot.
I don't want to wish anyone ill, but try to put yourself in my shoes for a moment. I wanted to say that but stopped myself. I rolled my eyes before sneakily leaning in for a hug against T. H. He was busy talking, so I didn't think he would notice.
"What are you doing?" I raised my eyes to meet his before scratching my head.
"Huh? Uhm…Nothing." I laughed a little awkwardly. "I'm just checking to see if your body is smooth or soft."
His cheeks went red like a tomato, and a smile emerged on his lips. Looking at him with a smile on my face makes me feel like I'm completely intoxicated! He pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Admit it, you just want to hug T.H." Latrelle snorted.
"Whatever!"
As soon as I walked into the house, I can't complete my tasks properly. If Wyn isn't there to help me, I won't be able to do the chores. T. H. was preoccupied with his practice, which is why he can't help me.
It took me by surprise when Jez came over and hugged me while I was preparing our food for dinner.
"How did your photoshoot go?" I asked as I was preparing a plate and pulling a chair for him. "Go eat, and I'll just call them." I added
"No, how are you doing?! What happened?" Her gaze was drawn to my bandaged foot.
"T. H. made me tired in bed." I laughed, looking around to make sure no one else heard me say it. "Wanwan accidentally kicked my foot while we were playing soccer." I answered.
"Bitch! You were involved in an accident and are still flirting!
I sulked, "I was only joking around!
"I almost forget, do you have any knowledge of this?"
Jez took her cell phone out of her pocket and handed it to me. "Video?" I asked, my brows furrowed in perplexity.
"Yes. Watch it carefully."
I got chills down my spine as soon as the video started playing. There was a girl there, but I couldn't see her face because she was standing with her back to the camera. She was holding the dress that I was supposed to wear to the competition in her hands. Her posture was one that I was very familiar with.
The CCTV clearly captured what she was doing, though we can't identify her because she was wearing a black face mask.
Jez and I were both staring at each other. I took a deep breath as he swallowed.
"That's insane! That girl is a scumbag. One more thing, how does she know where all of your belongings are kept?"
I looked at Jez with a wrinkled brow. I don't want to come to a conclusion because it is making my chest hurt more. I can't stand the thought that she was the one who did it.
"Know who to befriend and who to trust at all times, especially when it comes to your classmates with whom you interact on a daily basis!" Jez gave me some advice before he left me completely befuddled.
That's not something she can do. She's a nice lady. I treated her as a friend, and she treated me in the same way. I'm confident she won't do something like that.
I took several deep breaths in an attempt to calm myself. That's all right, Kaoree. She is not that type of girl. You are overanalyzing the situation.
I went into the living room, but I was still preoccupied, which is why I bumped on Wyn's chest. I couldn't help but smile when I saw that she was dressed in a tweety bird shirt.
"Your bird is absolutely adorable! I mean.. I'm referring to the tweety bird shirt you're wearing.
She looked down at her clothes and pointed at it, "Is this what you're talking about? Thanks."
"Don't bother going upstairs. It won't be difficult for you because I already called them. T. H just arrived." I gave a slight nod of approval.
I couldn't stop thinking about the video while they were eating.
"Did you know that there was a leaked CCTV video in our school?" Marcus said out of nowhere.
Everyone was taking him seriously as they listened to him speak. The subject has clearly piqued their interest.
"About what?" T. H. showed unusual interest in the topic.
"The person who destroyed Kaoree's dress. There was a report that it was—-"
"Marcus, stop that. Let's not even bring it up again." They were looking at me with serious expressions on their faces, while T. H.'s fist was clenched.
"I don't want anyone to bring it up. That was not done by her."
"However, Kaoree, she must be punished—" Marcus argued.
"Stop it," Latrelle said in a small voice.
I gave a bitter smile, "That's right. Keep whatever or whoever is in your head to yourself."
I couldn't stop thinking about it throughout the night. I can't tell how many times I rolled over in my bed just to forget about it and fall asleep peacefully. No matter how hard I tried, all I could think about was the betrayal.
I got to my feet and went outside. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see Latrelle standing there with his hands raised, ready to knock. He was holding a light beer in his other hand.
"Do you want to drink?" He laughed while scratching his head.
"I'm not going to drink," I said as he step aside to allow me to pass.
"We're just going to talk. You don't want it?"
I couldn't help but smile because I couldn't resist him. "It's fine, but only a few, okay?"
"Whoever it was who did that, don't worry! I was sure she'd make up for it one day."
"Day? Is it not the night?" I couldn't stop laughing at my own joke.
"Whatever, porridge girl."
I smiled when I realized that there really is someone out there who understands your sadness even if you don't express it to him directly.Download Novelah App
