Chapter 2 The truth was he did not look drunk but crazy . . . seriously crazy.
SCARLETTE'S POINT OF VIEW I was frowning while staring at my score. Out of 50, I got 26. "Oh . . . not bad." My seatmate on the left smirked. "Yours?" I tried to make my voice soft and gladly, I made it. Why? Her presence annoys me always! By the way, her name is Rhode. She is our president in this section. I hate her a lot because of her boastfulness. "Perfect. No beads of sweat," she proudly said. This time, I smiled. "Really, huh? Of course, no beads of sweat for you because you just copied her answers," I told her, referring to the girl at her other side. In an instant, her face became white. The curve on her lips faded. "H-how d-did . . . you―" "Miss Sevilla?" I looked at the man who was standing in front of me. "Sir?" I met his serious eyes with mine. "Meet me at lunchtime in the faculty room. We have to talk." Then, he walked away. Talk?! At lunchtime?! "Sad. Looks like you will see the transformation of the beautiful man to a beast," Rhode whispered to my left ear. I just swallowed hard. So one hour from now, I would deal with a monster. I knocked three times on the wooden door before entering. There were no teachers left except the chemistry teacher. He was sitting at his table while writing something in his notebook. "What will we talk about, Sir?" When I spoke, he stopped. He stared at my face for about a few seconds before answering. "Random things?" he mocked. My eyebrows furrowed. "Seriously, Sir? I have so much to do and I only have a little time." Uh, going here was such a waste. "Just kidding. Okay. Okay. Here is the thing. Do you know Miss Cecilia Sevilla, right?" I nodded. Of course, I know her because she is my aunt, who lives in the USA! "Do you have her phone number?" I gave him a suspecting look. "Why?" He laughed a bit. "I asked you but you answered me a question." Then, he laughed again. Really? Funny? What was funny there? "Why are you asking her number, Sir?" He cleared his throat. "I need to talk to her." His voice became serious. "About what?" "About a very important thing." "And what is it?" "Uh . . . " There was a hint of hesitation on his face. I brought out my phone from the pocket of my black mini skirt. I looked for my aunt's contact number and wrote it in his notebook. Then, I left him without saying a word. I know what I did, okay? It just showed how disrespectful I am to people who do not value time. School works did not fail to give me stress even inside the home. This is home, not a school. Where is the justice there? It is 10:29 PM already and I badly wanted to sleep. However, I got loads of work to do. Three tasks were finished. Two tasks to go. I was about to start my next work when my phone rang. I picked it up and tapped the 'answer' button. My forehead wrinkled when I heard loud music from the other side. "Hello? Who is this?" I asked. Of course, it was from an unknown number. "Hi, Scarlette~" Weird, it sounded drunk. "Who is this?" I repeated. "The clock is ticking. Do not waste my time." "Okay, okay, Miss Sevilla~" I immediately stood up when I recognized him. It was our chemistry teacher! "W-why did you call, Sir?" How the hell he has my phone number?! I did not remember giving it to him! "A-and how d-did you get my n-number?" He chuckled. "Your pretty aunt gave it to me~" Yuck! I automatically scrunched my nose. Replying by singing? Yuck! It gave me goosebumps! "I need you here. Now," he said. Now, I could sense the seriousness in his voice. "And why, Sir?" I asked, irritated, "I got loads of works to—" "Someone will kill me. Help me. Please." I looked at my phone with disbelief. A man who is stronger and older than me was asking for help from me? This is completely ridiculous. "And do you think, Sir, I can help you?" I could not stop myself from clenching my fist. "You are the only one I can ask for help. Please, Miss Sevilla." "Damn it," I cursed under my breath, low enough for him not to hear. "Where are you, Sir?" "Nightingale Bar." After he said that, he ended the call. I threw my pen on the cream wall. It broke into pieces because of the impact. I grabbed my black shoulder bag that was placed on my study table and wore my rubber shoes before running outside. Gladly, I was still wearing my yellow T-shirt and fitted jeans. That bar is just near that was why I just ran. I took a deep breath before opening the glass double door, but my hand was suspended in the air when someone grabbed my right shoulder and turned me to look at him by force. "You should not come here. He tricked you," he seriously said. I could not see his whole face. Half of it was covered by a black mask. What? Tricked? I pushed him when I realized that he was too close. "Who are you, Mister? Do I know you? And who is this man that tricked me?" I could feel my eyes staring at him suspiciously. He closed his eyes and gently touched his nape. "You are unbelievable," he whispered but I was able to hear it. "Okay. The first answer, I am no one. The second answer, you do not know me but I know you. And last, the guy that called you earlier." I stared at his ash gray eyes for a moment before I sighed. "Maybe, you are drunk, Mister. You must go home." The truth was he did not look drunk but crazy . . . seriously crazy.
