Chapter 15 Foes and Allies

For the second time in his life, in his seventy five years of life, he was rendered speechless.
When he walked in, he expected a lot of things.
The energy the man emitted was suppressing his and it made it hard for him to approach him head high.
He felt the urge to submit but he couldn't do that. He is the wizard of Vedarah, the highest of the caliber of sorcerers.
"Your majesty, I am Keevah Harid, the right hand of Her majesty Queen Aveedah Moorah Aarah."
Velaine turned to him a small smile on his face and Keevah wondered if there was a mistake.
So many things were out of place.
He is too young to posses such inner energy. It doesn't come with just training and meditation. Age is also an important factor.
How can a man of such young age mobilize rebels from all 4 regions?
And why, why is he not able to see his gift?
With other people, it takes less than 10 seconds but with him, it is like there is a barrier, barrier is not accurate, a repellent.
"Keevah Harid, it is a pleasure to finally meet Harid's son. I see you took your features from your mother, your father was rather on the average scale."
"You knew my father?" Keevah asked, wondering if there was anymore surprises for him.
"He was a friend, gave me a few useful advice." He replied casually.
"How old are you?" Keevah asked before he could stop himself.
"How old do I look to you ?" He asked, smiling mischievously at the confused man.
"Your looks suggests that we are peers but your energy and your familiarity with my father says otherwise your highness." He replied carefully, making sure to avoid speaking to him casually.
He is a king and it is only right he gives him the respect he deserves.
Velaine let out a small chuckle before he said.
"Tell your Queen I will be there after I take a rest. The journey down here is unnecessarily exhausting." He lamented, gracefully resting his back, before Keevah could say anything he added.
"She should be rest assured I will be there before the banquet."
Keevah almost screamed out of frustration.
He knows everything and he, he knows nothing.
He had so many questions but he refuse dance to his tunes. He is dropping the hints of mystery on purpose, he is teasing his curiosity, enjoying watching him try to fathom his clues.
"When you are ready your highness,. please inform Victoria. I will escort you." He bowed, choosing to cut their conversation short.
"You do not have to inconvenience yourself so much, I do not her escorting me." He replied, glancing once at Victoria who was standing at the far end of the room with Leo.
"I am to make sure the meeting is discrete, your highness." Keevah informed, his face expressionless.
"I am not fond of sneaking around though." He teased, now looking at an annoyed Keevah. Aww
"And I am not fond of mysteries your highness." He snapped.
Velaine laughed deeply before he replied.
"Thank heavens I am not working with you but with your Queen then." And with that, he closed his eyes and sighed quietly.
Keevah didn't need another dismissal before he walked out, barely looking at the snickering Leo and the confused Victoria angry at himself for loosing control.
He teleported himself to Aveedah's chambers.
The guards did not bother stopping him and his countenance did not provide for that.
"Vee, I strongly advice a change of plan."He started, immediately his eyes rested on her.
"And why is that?" She asked, too calm for the way she actually felt.
"He is too dangerous." He replied, running his hand through his hair.
"Explain." She ordered.
He narrated his ordeal word by word to her while she listened quietly.
True there were so many things wrong with him, but does avoiding him stop him from targeting her if indeed she is his target?
A wise king is not the one that eliminates competition, he is the one that uses the competition to his advantage.
"Keevah, keep your emotions aside and give me a rational analysis."
"Do you think he will be of the use I want him to serve?" She asked, her eyes boring into his.
Keevah was quiet for a while before he sighed and dropped his gaze.
"He is my Queen, but he is far too unreliable. I do not want us falling in the hands of a wolf while running from a mere dog."
"No matter how cunning the wolf is, the lion is still the king of the jungle." She replied confidently.
Keevah stared at her for a while before he squared his shoulder and raised his chin high.
"I have full faith in you. Do not let your guard down your majesty." He bowed, a bow that meant more than respect, it was assurance, his allegiance and it was his confidence in her.
She gripped his shoulders and raised him up, till he was upright.
"It is time for me to dress up, I am expecting a guest." She said meaningfully and he smiled at her.
"As you wish Vee." He replied with a bigger smile of his own and strolled out.
"You old fool." Kebarah hissed sending a vase smashing into the wall.
The prime minister could hardly stay still, he knew Kebarah and it was a matter of time before one of those vases found their way to his head.
"I was careless your highness, I am not worthy of your mercy." He begged, his knees almost failing him.
"What is she planning?" Kebarah asked through gritted teeth, his hair running in his black neatly tied hair freeing strands of it from the bunch.
"Your highness, she has not said anything at all and neither has she done anything out of the ordinary except for a king Keevah advised her to include in this event. I have inquired from Victoria but she reported nothing out of the ordinary. The king is just like any other king and nobody from the queen's side have gone to meet him." He reported, barely keeping his shaking voice in control.
"Victoria, the special agent ?" Kebarah asked, his anger finally beginning to subside.
"Yes, your highness. As luck would have it, she was assigned to him."
"Just the way the fool outside is assigned to me." Kebarah completed a sly smile on his face.
The prime minister's fear began to melt slowly and his face morphed into a wicked smile.
"She will regret holding this congregation." He whispered.

The special agent outside the door, stood guard his, eyes following the maids passing by as he admired their bosom and their voluptuous behinds.
"Excuse me, which rank officer are you and why are you in my place?" A guard asked, frowning at him.
"Me, my job is done here." He replied and walked away.
