Chapter 17 Devil or Angel

The sun had set and it's orange illumination lit Vedarah in a peaceful and romantic style.
The previously chaotic market was now orderly as the citizens all had one goal. To return to who or what they considered home.
Lurking in the streets were little children knowing y well it was time to go home but refusing to do so for the play just became more interesting.
The lovers were never to be left out when it was sunset after all, even the sun seemed to have set for the as they held hands and whispered words to each other, their happy giggles making some passerbys smile while others sneer at them.
The palace was however in a chaos as the maids frantically tried to make everything perfect before the kings arrived.
Their queen had given an order, it is her first congregation and nothing should be missing.
Suddenly a maid entered and ran straight to Jane the head maid who was busy inspecting the hall and picking out even the tiniest mistake.
"Madam, the guests are on their way."
Jane's eyes widened and she rang the bell in her hand.
"Only those assigned to welcome the guests are to remain. The others, should make sure their work is perfect and quietly walk out through the other door." She Instructed, pointing at the door.
Quickly, she ran an inspection of the whole arena and even outside and immediately she stopped to take a breath, she heard the announcement.
"Welcome your highness."
Jus like that, the kings strolled, some with their wives on their arms into the spotless hall, each with three guards behind him.
If the hall was beautiful before they came in, it was now exquisite.
They are equivalent to waves of sophistication and luxury and elegance and arrogance to the quiet hall.
If one king makes the maids hold their breaths, the other sent their mind spiralling.
Their guards stood behind their couch while the maids lead them to their couches.
Immediately the sat, they were served fruit of their choices as wine would only be served when the leader of the congregation, their queen arrived.
Soon, all the seat was occupied except the leader's and one on the other end.
They whispered among themselves, trying to fathom whose seat it was. Kebarah called Jane to inquire from her when the trumpet to welcome the queen bellowed.
Aveedah strolled in.
Keevah on one side and Eric on the other.
The sight of her made the maids gasp, did they think they had seen sophistication and elegance?
Aveedah looked enthralling as her black fur coat spreading behind her, it's golden embroidery shone against the dark black colour.
As she waltzed in, the place went dead silent and all the kings despite their contempt stood up. They could not help it, her aura was dominating and the bowing maids and guards made them feel like even the walls would overturn if they didn't stand up.
Aveedah didn't bother looking anywhere until she had reached her cushion, the largest and the most beautiful, her head held high, she took her seat, Eric and Keevah on either side before she scanned the room, her light blue eyes calm.
"Greetings your highness." The maids and servants chorused.
"My dear guests, please do not embarrass me. Take your seats." She said her voice calm and gentle.
They hesistantly took their seats, torn between obeying her command and standing throughout the event.
Aveedah smiled at them and also ordered the servants to stand up.
" It is a pleasure to be able to hold this congregation with you all despite the recent passing of my father. Last year, I was behind this chair, my eyes on every one of you and my right hand on father's shoulder."
"But here we are this year, I am sitting on this chair with no family member as support." She paused for a while to guage their reaction.
'However, I believe it is more entertaining to tantalize the devil, let him see you are capable of governing even hell.' She could see his devilish smile as his parting words ran through her mind.
'I am excited to see how well you will fare.'He had added before leaving her.
"Before I continue, I would love to introduce you to the newest member of our congregation.King Velaine Rado of Ridah." She announced and the aura in the hall changed, they were no longer hiding their murmurs, They glanced at each other while Kebarah glanced pointedly at her.
She only smiled at him before Velaine stepped in, just one knight, one tall able bodied man behind him.
He was dressed in all white as if trying to hide the dark aura he emitted, his fur coat making him bulkier than he truly is. If she had not had a glimpse of the man he was behind all that illumination, she would believe he was the angel the crowd seemingly believe he is.
If truth is to be told, she did not even think he wore the white to hide his dark aura, a man of his caliber wouldn't bother doing that, instead, he would prefer to use the white to illuminate and make his darkness stand out, visible to all who could see.
When he was atleast two inches before the podium her couch sat, he smiled and the shameless women present gasped, be it a maid or a queen seating beside her husband, they all fell for his charm.
"Your highness." He called and Aveedah almost swore he was not the same person she had spoken to earlier.
The authority was still in his voice but now, there was somewhat a touch of seduction.
As she returned his smile and ordered Jane to show him his seat, she caught sight of Kebarah.
He was trembling, he could barely take his eyes off the man whose back was to him.
His wide opened eyes seemed unable to agree with what they were seeing as he craned his neck to get a clearer view.
'Something is wrong, hopefully it was only wrong on Kebarah's part.'
