“Sniff,sniff,sniff.” Eryna’s nose caught something while she was asleep that caused her to wake up. She slowly opened her eyelids and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling with daze.
“Oh! I forgot I was not in my room,’ Eryna stretched her hands and pulled up her body from the bed, and yawned a bit. Her arms were widely stretched when she realised that she was not supposed to be on the bed.
“Gasp!” Eryna retreated her hands and looked at the other side of the bed, that’s was empty.
“Huh? Why am I here?” Eryna glanced at the couch and saw the blanket she was rolled into yesterday night on the couch, it was alReady folded properly and placed on the side.
Knock-knock…
The maid knocked on the open door a few times and then entered the room, she was followed by more maids. Eryna pulled the blanket off her and got off the bed.
“Good morning, Miss.” the maids spoke with one voice.
“Good morning to you as well, but —what is all this?” Eryna pointed at the dresses getting dragged into the room.
“Today is going to be your first day at work, we have prepared something for you,” the maid answered with twinkling eyes.
Eryna lifted her eyebrow and glanced at the sleeveless and backless dresses,
“Mm—“ Eryna pressed her lips together and tried hard to control her tongue.
“Who chose these?” Eryna spoke.
“I did!! Do you like them?” The maid who was responsible for managing the mansion spoke up cheerfully.
Eryna glanced at her while biting her own teeth,
“Yes! Very pretty—but, could you bring me something that is not so—revealing? I mean I am not comfortable in these kinds of dresses,”
Eryna replied softly.
“Oh! I am so sorry, I thought you would like them.” The maid looked away with disappointment.
“No, I love them-they are beautiful, it’s just I can carry them elegantly like others can, I don’t want to make a joke out of myself,” Eryna patted her gently and replied, trying hard not to make her feel sad.
“Really! Thanks—.” The maid replied happily, “I will bring you something more comfortable right away, you can wash up and I will bring them,” she replied cheerfully.
“Sure, and—what about you people?” Eryna asked the rest of the maids.
“We are going to help you change,” they replied.
“No need, I can do it on my own, you can get busy with your work,”
“Okay miss, if that’s your order then,” The bowed lightly and left one by one.
Eryna watched them walk out of the room and breathed out heavily.
She walked into the washroom that was more like another room, it was a huge space, with a bathtub that looked like it could at least fit three grown up people easily in it. Everything was made out of black and white marble. The walls were decorated with long mirrors that reached the ceilings. Eryna saw her reflection on every side, her lips twitched a little.
“Tsk, rich people!” She shook her head sarcastically.
Eryna took off her loose shirt, and looked at her reflection with a sorrowful expression. The mirror reflected everything, it mercilessly showed Eryna her scars that had her kept in darkness for so long. The huge inverted ‘V’ mark on her stomach made her remember all the pain she had been through, and a deep scar on her back that ran from her left shoulder toward her right leg narrated the story of her cursed love story. Eryna’s clear eyes wandered at the girl in the reflection ,who’s eyes were grieving, Eryna stepped closer to her reflection and her dry lips parted slowly.
“I know you are strong— I have seen your strength. Even with those tears in your eyes...I can see the warrior behind the scared mask— Why are you sad? Everything has finally ended. The bad days are gone— “
*SIMBA!! (Crash)—
Eryna looked away from the mirror, as the agony filled voice echoed in her ears, she jerked off the memory that had flashed in front of her eyes and looked up at herself again.
“The darkness is gone—now, everything will be alright,” Eryna spoke in a bitter tone. Her voice broke as her brain continued to flash the parts of the dreadful memories when she had lost Simba, her hand that was on the mirror clenched into a fist and her body trembled, she felt her knees weaken.
Eryna fell on her knees desperately and her hair dangled down her shoulder, her teeth were tightly clenched and the tears rolled down her lightly tinted cheeks, she hugged her body tightly and stayed like that until there was a knock on the door.
“Miss I have brought you your clothes,” it was the maid from before, Eryna looked up at the door and then glanced back at herself. She slowly got on her legs and pulled a bathrobe from the hanger. She tied it loosely around her waist and opened up the door.
“Thanks,” she smiled at the maid and closed back the door.
Eryna walked down the stairs wearing a long sleeved dark blue woollen dress, with her hair tied into a ponytail and a few strands of hair fell on her shoulder. She wore a pair of comfy white shoes.
The maids were waiting for her to arrive, the breakfast was already on the table,
“Miss—“ the maid dragged the chair.
“No, I don’t feel like eating today. I would head out for now.” Eryna replied in a tired voice. “Where is Micah by the way?” Eryna looked around as she hadn’t seen him since morning.
“Master went to work early today, something urgent came up,” the maid reported.
“Okay, I will be going as well then.”
Eryna spoke and opened up her bag’s zip pulling out her cellphone, there were a few notifications. Eryna stepped towards the door while opening the mails.
The car was already waiting for her outside the door, she sat in and read through the words. She felt like her heart would jump out of her chest.
Hunter had signed the first contract on the behalf of Eryna, She had received a huge sum of money as an advance. Eryna tried hard to stop her face from smiling but she couldn’t control herself. Eryna called Hunter to hear it directly from him.
“Hello!!” When Hunter picked up Eryna spoke with excitement.
“Hi...what’s up? You sound very not like Eryna (chuckle).” Hunter spoke in a hoarse voice as if he had been woken up from sleep.
“Is it true?!” Eryna exclaimed.
“No! I made that up...I was kidding.” Hunter replied sarcastically. “ off course it’s true,”
“I am so happy!!”
“I can sense that through the phone,” Hunter replied, “ now let me sleep please, I am tired after running errands for you—“
“Ooh!! Okay go to sleep, call me when you wake up!” Eryna replied.
“No need, I will be back the day after tomorrow...we can talk as much as we want then—let’s discuss about your job then,”
“You are coming!! Haah!!(excited exhale) — Okay let’s talk then.” Eryna pulled away the phone from her ear and looked out the window with happy gaze.
