Eryna had slept very peacefully at night, she woke up in a great mood forgetting everything about the work she had to do, She dressed up and like yesterday Micah had left for work early in the morning. The driver drove her to the office. She walked into the enormous building and past the reception. Eryna quickened her pace to get to the elevator and got inside right in time.
She was surprised to see that Zukey was standing there holding onto a bunch of boxes that looked really heavy.
“Good morning, Renya!” Zukey spoke with a cheerful voice.
“Good morning to you as well but what’s up with the boxes?” She gave her a hand by taking two of the boxes from the stack.
“These are the deliveries for our department. I am supposed to take them to the office.”
“So you are a delivery person in the office?” Eryna asked.
“Kind of,”
“Let me help you then, I too am in the same position as you.” Eryna spoke in an assuring tone.
Eryna helped her out, it took them half an hour to bring in all the boxes, Holding onto the last boxes they entered their office where Scarlet stood with an annoyed look on her face. Her gaze rushed over to Eryna, who felt odd at first but then realised something.
“Oh shoot! I left the file at home…” Eryna muttered under her breath.
“What did you do?” Zukey asked.
“She gave me some work and I have left it at home…” Eryna’s stomach grumbled.
“You intern, I think I told you to bring me the file the first thing in the morning, but all I see you doing is wasting your time on useless stuff,” Scarlet shouted like an angry mom.
“I am so sorry, I will try…”
‘Shriek…
A girl came running, her cheeks were blushing while there was excitement in her eyes, she came close to Scarlet and whispered in her ear. And within a blink of an eye her frown disappeared while her dissatisfaction flushed down the drain. Her face showed a beautiful smile and her eyes changed into those of an innocent child.
“Are you telling the truth!” She asked in a soft heart melting voice.
Eryna couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the transformation.
“Yes, I saw him walk this way, he will be here soon,” the lady with curly hair responded, she looked like one of Scarlet’s minions.
“Oh no! Is my make up okay?” Scarlet looked at Eryna and asked in a hurry.
“...” Eryna was blank for a few seconds but then she answered,“Yes! You look beautiful.”
Scarlet looked at her with disbelief before glancing over to the entrance,
“Gasp! He is so handsome!!”
“I know right!”
“I wish he was my husband…”
“He didn’t change at all! He is as handsome as I first saw him.”
The low murmurs started and they slowly grew louder, Eryna too got interested and looked in the direction where everyone was looking and to her surprise it was Ayden looking around through the crowd of girls, holding onto a file.
“He brought it!?-“ Eryna was speechless when she saw his dedication to his work, Eryna’s uncomfortable heart calmed down when she saw the file.
“ What brought you here! You could have asked me, I would have come to your office,” A honey like voice came out of Scarlet’s lips.
“No there was no need for that, I am here for—“ he looked up at their head and glanced at Eryna.
“Miss.Renya, I believe we have to talk about something,” he spoke in an odd manner that made Eryna wonder for a while but when she looked around at the hood thirsty gazes around her, Eryna decided it really was a good decision to get out of here for a while.
Eryna sped up and walked behind Ayden who had already turned around to walk out.
Just across the hallway beside the elevator Ayden stopped and turned around, and held out the file to Eryna.
“I went through it a few more times so it won’t have any more flaws...it’s perfect now.” Ayden spoke.
“Thank you so much! You have no idea how much I am thankful to you for this,”
Eryna took the file from his hand with a smile.
“I know you are-your face shows it all!”Ayden smirked and patted her shoulder before walking away saying, “See you at lunch, I have heard that here are some great sweet and sour ribs at the cafeteria,”
“Sweet and sour Ribs!! Is this heaven!” Eryna mumbled while liking her lips in hunger.
Eryna returned with the file in her hand, the office had an odd atmosphere. Everybody stared at her with a hostile gaze. Eryna felt uncomfortable under such pressure. She walked in Closer to Scarlet and held out the file.
“Here is it-“ feeling embarrassed because she hadn’t done it by herself Eryna gave up somebody’s hard work under her own name but Scarlet wasn’t very interested in the file for now. She pulled out the file from Eryna’s hand and flipped the pages while staring straight into her eyes.
“So what did you two talk about?” Her voice had curiosity filled in it.
“Nothing—“ Eryna replied calmly.
“Are you saying the director of the company! Came all the way to meet an intern just to say nothing?”
“Yes!” Eryna replied. “I thanked him and he told me that the cafeteria had some great sweet and sour ribs that I should try!” Eryna’s face was calm as still water when she gave her the brief information about their conversation.
“You thanked him? For what actually?”
“Is this part of my job? Because I wasn’t informed that my superiors would be asking me questions about my personal life,”
At these simple words most of the surrounding fell into deep silence, they had taken a different meaning from her words.
Eryna looked around at her with disappointment while others had anger and rage burning inside their pupils, Eryna didn’t realise that within a few moments she had made herself a whole lot of rivals.
Scarlet on the other hand was speechless but her fingers digged deep into the paper causing it to tear up. She wasn’t speaking but her actions gave it all. One could tell she wanted to skin Eryna alive but wasn’t able to do so.
