Now, Ahmed was already behind him and repeated his claim.
“I see. You know how to get him, you will deal mercilessly with him. By the way, who released you?”
On hearing Ahmed's voice, he was confused, and squatted on his knees, and began to hop around by way of frog jump. With an irresistible urge to snicker, everyone began to laugh at the man, including his bodyguards, except for Ahmed because he was used to such scenes. Now, the boss' white flowing gown had spread on the dusty floor, and he was not bothered. Then Ahmed declared, “You are hereby released. Go and sin no more.” Thereafter, he turned and walked away.
“Thank you, sir,” the offenders appreciated. As expected, no response came from him, and the boss, who was greatly humiliated, kept hopping around until Ahmed's car left. After he stopped, he discovered that all eyes were on him, and he walked straight to his borrowed Jeep. At that point, he had forgotten that he came to pick his child, and was only interested in seeing a doctor.
Inside the car.
The orderly had turned on the car television, and to his surprise and the children's surprise too, the headrest monitor channel was on the Federal Television Authority and had their father, on a live broadcast with Fredrick.
“Daddy,” Frank and Francisca screamed. At that moment, the General Manager was talking about the reason for the Independent Anniversary Celebration, and why they chose sporting events.
The station featured him on a popular Nationwide Program called OIL AND GAS TODAY. It was a program that updated the public on the growth in the oil and gas industry. The host, who was pleased to have them on the program, asked. “Mr. Johnson, can you tell us in a nutshell why the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group chose sports activities in commemoration of this year's Independent Anniversary Celebration of our great Nation, Nigeria?”
Now, Ahmed had joined them and the driver drove off.
“Thank you, Mr. Moderator, for that question. The Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group decided on sports activities because sport brings unity and progress. We picked sports activities because sports give one a sense of acceptance, and connect people of different religions, races, and ideologies and so on. The easiest way to achieve global peace is through sports. In other words, sports has a unifying willpower. This year, the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group wants to touch the lives of five thousand youths and youngsters in a special way. We want our presence to be felt in a special way, especially in our host communities.”
The children giggled and looked at each other. Then, the host continued, “I love that, sports has a unifying willpower, touch the lives of five thousand youths and youngsters. That is a very credible and laudable project.”
Then, he turned to his left and asked.
“What do you have to say, Mr. Fredrick Ike, and why is your organization one of the sponsors?”
“Thank you, Mr. Moderator. Like the General Manager said, sports is a connector. Sports is sports anywhere you go. For the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group, a foreign company, to think of bringing our youths together on this year's Independent Anniversary Celebration is quite commendable. That is why the Century Airlines decided to support her on this history—making event.”
“Mr. Nura, kindly remember our live chicken,” Francisca, who had her mind on the television, and on her delicacy pleaded. Ahmed and his orderly laughed, and he asked, “I thought you were watching your daddy?”
Francisca laughed too. Then, the driver packed at the usual Live Chicken Spot, and they made their purchases. By this time, the live broadcast had come to an end, and the twins slept off until they got home.
“Wake up. We are home,” Ahmed announced. When they got down from the vehicle, they noticed that there were many security men and women guarding only their apartment. Mary, the chef, was at home to receive them.
“Bye, everyone,” Ahmed greeted.
“Bye Mr. Nura," the children responded, he returned to the Industrial Area for further instructions.
At Robinson's Office.
They watched the Live Appearance of the General Manager and Fredrick of the Century Airlines. Then, Robinson asked, “Could it be that Gabriel is responsible for the planning of the Independent Anniversary Celebration event?”
Richard, who would not accept that Gabriel was still relevant in the organization, refuted, “It is not possible. The management allowed him to appear to deceive the public.”
“I got it. Can’t you see that the Chairman and the Vice Chairman did not appear because they wanted to avoid associating with him?”
“That is correct. The organizer may be the Vice Chairman, or it was contracted to an Event Planner.”
“You're right. If it's an Event Planner, we would look out for the company. Let's check the name stickers on the sports attires. We may get a clue.”
They searched for the fancy bags that contained the sports attires, and they got a contact. Unfortunately, it was a foreign number with the emblem of Lamborghini Veneno. The company had sent the fancy bags along with the five executive cars they pledged to support the event with. The idea was to have their emblem in the homes of all the attendees. For that reason, they also school provided fancy bags for the children's sports attires.
“What do we do now? The contact on the fancy bag is a foreign contact?” Robinson, who was already losing his mind, asked. Then, Richard opined, “If not that Gabriel is a stupid man, we would not have been in this disorder.”
“You are right. He just left us on a cross road.”
At the Public School Field.
Now, Victor had secretly informed his team members that they should converge at the school by 2:30 pm, dependably. Though, he had asked them to gather by 4 pm the previous day, but that was a ploy to disorganize his haters, who had openly indicated that they would disrupt their movement. The information he got from Madam Abigail the previous day that the company will pick them on Friday for the event instead of Monday as earlier agreed was very helpful. Then, he informed his team members that they were going to another field to train by 4 pm. and they should come with their training kits. That day, he passed another message to them saying that the training will start at 3 pm instead of 4 pm.
At the General Manager's Office
After Ahmed took the twins home, he returned to the General Manager's office to give the update of his trip. However, the General Manager returned to the office as soon as he was out of the Federal Television Authority Studio and Fredrick returned to the Grand Crest Luxury too. When Ahmed got to his office, he was already seated. Then, he appreciated, “Thank you, Ahmed. I hope you didn't spend all your money on Live Chicken today?”
Ahmed laughed before he responded, “No Sir. Nothing is too much for them.”
