Chapter 86

“I hope you have not allowed Pius issue and troubles to weigh you so down”. Asked Uka as he came out through the door.
“No my dear” she answered and smiled.
“But then you are not too happy. Your face is not bright and you are not beautiful as you used to. Mom”
“I am not happy. I should be rightly deceiving myself if I sit myself here and answer you that it is all well. The whole thing is like being infernally troublesome. Life and pressure like this have given me some hint that is more experienced than imagined. He is making it hot for me. I haven’t got the fact quite straight for accusing Mr. Ribadau. He is kind to me. I have tried involving him almost in everything I do, but he was a hard knock. For my sake, he left his kids and wives in the state, paying them only visits. Why should I show him my back now? No it’s so funny dear. I am too advanced for that. I should be ungrateful; an ingrate for doing that. That boy forgot that his constant ring and threat over the phone have been helpful to me. I am out for him finally. I have been collecting data about him and it is mighty interesting if he does not know. It is going to take time, a long time unknown as long as life continues. Distance yourself from him for you are not of the same class and breed with him, unless he wants to be responsible now for once. I can admit in your favor that you are a novice to crime and useless life of that sort. He had made himself a hero to it. I wish I could have more as I used to some years ago to tell him that he is planning for the end of his life”.
Mosi was entering. He had followed the back door. He too had come through the back door because he had resolved never to say a greeting to Mr. Ribadau. He had returned from London lately for his studies. He was a fair blue eyed man in his late twenties, a beautiful bright open face, very tall and composed for his age. He was also an averaged sized young man, quite young, still full of youth, with a small trimmed moustache. He, a cheerful replica of his father had a massive fleshy frame. He was Mr. Zack’s second child by way of legality but biologically third. He was much like his father - a much more remote, unapproachable character in appearance but smiles at will in private. He was very tall, which it seemed that he inherited from his mother, although his color was his father’s. But such analogical descriptions were all genetic legacies and code he got from his fathers family.
He was fairly intelligent with all manners of a learned person and composed. He does not talk because he got itched, but because he had something serious to talk on. He greeted his mother and Uka, but it was so cold that the response was inaudible. While the greeting lasted and the atmosphere dull, he walked briskly toward the bar with a casual ensembles blue jeans, white T-shirt and a pair of blue boot with a turquoise tinge. He was indeed a daintily figure walk.
With a glassy countenance, he turned and cast a swift glance around. He remembered how and where it all began with his mother, some ten years ago or more. His face crinkled and he spoke with unaffected tone. With tranquil eyes, he worked himself around to the equable disposition. He was handsome to extreme like his mother. They all flashed their mind back remembering many gone days and silence failed. It was bygone days. Days they were too close, never knowing that anything stronger than death could separate them.
Thereafter he sat with latitude, his leg crossed with his left elbow supporting his chin on the executive cushion.
“Mom how are you?” he finally asked.
Mrs. Zack gave way to tears and could not reply as tears have filled his throat. He sent a wink and handshake to Uka. It was not for sadness that the tears came, but for memories of the past that never want to go.
He was sounding harmless enough. But from his face, he was not satisfied with only his mother and Uka. He looked around again and asked his mother few questions. Naturally, he was too soft-spoken and always wanted knowing much.
“You look good and young mother. I love that. How is Pius? Haven’t he come here recently? “He asked pretending he did not know.
