Chapter 95

They had been left high and dry with no hope of expectation. Those ultra-loyals strove hard to out-do themselves in defense of the questionable actions and inactions of Mr. President. Sometimes publicly blackmailing and fighting words in the media to put a shame on their opponent and to please their lord. During the brief periods of this ascendancy into the public view, they had publicly and secretly swallowed their dignity, inherited some of his enemies and covered scars that would stay unhealed if he had continued forever.
With his appointment, Mr. President carried out his political machination of never to retain many in power even when he would be going. He would turn enemy to the people that saw his appointment approved and for those reasons it would be hard to question Mr. President’s decisions when everyone spoke in different ways.
There were typically enough traditional and continental foods and assorted foreign drinks, which everyone took to satisfaction, and the day rolled up.

Another drama that was played years ago was back again, but now by different characters and faces. It was the years Udo was the chairman electoral commission, but after eighteen solid years , he had been replaced by Uka. Shortly before the plot to kill Mr. Zack came up, they had gathered with Mr. President to sort out other available options other than through plane crash. Mr. President was amazed by the large turnout of guest; scores of chairs had to be bought in to accommodate the guests drawn from all walks of life. Virtually every available space was occupied, and the topic suddenly changed when almost all suspecting eye was on them. The ruling party was up for any game.  To buy to the grassroots men who could give their immoral support, who could sell their consciences for a mere office of a gate man. These men initiated Mr. President in buying the business moguls marketed before him. He yielded after ward, but dragged foot before that.
“I think I owe you duty of explanation if I should accept this with support, of which my hold to this office is totally fragile. They are my fears. It will really be bad and unfortunate because to my greatest knowledge this will undermine the reform program of this administration. I have been here for nearly two decades less three, I should play safe now.” He said.
“Leave those matters to our hands. The world all over knows that power cannot be equaled to anything. It is something that stands out and beware of the implication of loosing it. It is something that comes once in a life time and if you cannot hold it tightly despite it hurts, you loose it to others” Mr. Ribadau advised.
“And you know of course the implication” he said laughing “I made a vow that I still owed. You all know how I came into the seat, through a rigorous process, even when I thought I would die, they saved me and placed me here. I shall not do anything without consenting them. I have fought too many cold wars and in all to save many of you here. Many of you who started with me knew how well we started and it was purely on this ground that I made you come here this day”.
“It is clear, you do not owe anybody and those that refused to accept the sponsorship money they gave can as well go and leak their wounds. Not because you cannot pay back or you don’t want to pay back, but they want to keep you on trap if you want to make any move”.
“Your Excellency; give us the lead role during the selection. We shall give you a surprising note. Just believe it”
“Ha, ha, ha, ha, Ribadau, I cannot assume that you would be given the role. Listen well. I know what I am avoiding. I only do that to avoid splitting views and opinions that we have held together. I don’t want them to believe that I cannot do anything with my discretional power. I recognize your efforts, but I should act wisely.”
“Your Excellency, I think your decisions are unwise “another mogul puts in.
Mr. President paused for a while, studied his face and continued.
“With you around, I am not above the law, though I sometime claimed because of immunity. I don’t want to overstay my welcome here. I want to think and act responsibly.
“His Excellency, we are so sorry for keeping you in view after a busy time you have had with your visitors. We heard you just came in and would soon be called in from a business meeting with the Asian officials and soon also to be called in for a constitutional review with the men from the upper house “one of the men said, “so we want you keep a track record of what we have told you.
