Chapter 8

Third Person's POV
"It's a good thing you change your mind and finally decided to bring Serena here in Cassopeia," Scarlet mutter while looking at Erin.
Erin is so lost while looking at the book she's reading but she replied.
"I had no choice."
Scarlet takes yet another sip from her coffee. She knew Erin is worried about the safety of her daughter Serena but she thinks her friend is overreacting already.
"Don't you think your overreacting already?" She asked not able to hesitate anymore that made Erin look at her side. Finally.
"What do you mean?" Erin asked while raising her brows. She doesn't like what she just said.
"Serena is all grown up. Why not let her learn to protect her own self? You can't always be there to save her."
Erin closes the book she was reading as she sigh, deep. She doesn't want to admit that Scarlet was right but she has a point.
"Look after her." She said instead.
"How about your real identity? When are you planning to tell her?" Scarlet asked but Erin immediately shook her head in disapproval.
"She doesn't need to know about that." And she opened the book that she's reading again.
"Don't you think you are being unfair?"
"She doesn't need to know the truth." Erin says with finality. "I will be the only one to say if she needs to know the truth or not."
Scarlet sigh as she ask another question. "If that's the case, what are we going to do now?"
"Let her learn but keep her out of danger as much as possible."
Serena's POV
Me and Calla was on our way to the Pavilion hall. It was my first day here at Cassopeia after Mom brought me here. I am still confused about my last conversation with Miss Scarlet where she mentioned Mom but she said that was only a slip of tongue. And I didn't got the chance to ask her again when she changed our topic.
"When we will reach there, you'll see the different magic powers. Like creating illusion, mind reading, water and other elements"
"Really?" I asked. "Someone can read minds?"
Calla nodded.
"Yes. That's why if you don't want them to read your thoughts, you can blocked it."
I nodded in response. I would definitely do that. Who would want to let others knew what you're thinking right?
"Cassopeia also has a ruler. We have our Queen here. She is the one ruling the entire Cassopeia but she often shows up in public." Calla further explained.
And that made me curious. "Why is that?"
She then shrugged. "Her Highness must be busy. And also because we are always here in the Academy that's why we don't see her around."
I nodded. Okay, atleast I had a little background about Cassopeia even if I actually was born here.
As soon as we reached the Pavilion hall, I can see students like me that were scattered around. Some are summoning air balls and water balls. While others are making the trees around dance. That must be the earth element. While others choose to rest and sleep rather than using their energy.
"Serena come. Let's go to where Aya and Jas are," Calla then pulled me towards were the two are. I didn't notice but they are in a secluded area, far from the other students.
And as soon as we reach their spot, Jas and Aya immediately hugged me.
"Omg, I am glad you are here Serena. My instincts was right." Jas said while jumping in pure joy.
"Duh it isn't really obvious, Jas." Aya spoke laughing.
We we're busy laughing at Jas antics when I noticed the two guys in the side looking at us silently. The man with red shirt looks familiar. Did I met him somewhere? Jas noticed that I am looking at them so she pulled me over to their direction.
"Right, they are our friends too Serena" she said while pointing a finger at them. Quickly, Aya and Calla followed us.
"This is Max" Jas said as he points to the one wearing red shirt. "And this is Jester" and she pointed at the guy beside Max.
"Hi.." I said shyly. Max greeted me 'Hello' but Jester only waved his hand at me. He didn't even smile. I rolled my eyes mentally. This Jester guy looks so cold and at this moment, I had a feeling that we might be no good for each other.
"Now, plus one to our squad, yayy!" Jas said cheerfully. She was even clapping her hands that made me smile. Calla said earlier that Jas was actually the oldest among them but she was the most childish. Aya was the youngest. While me and Calla were on the same age.
"Gather up everyone!"
We turned around and Miss Scarlet was standing at the stage. Calla quickly pulled me as we gather at the center.
"Before we start, I would like to welcome the new ones. For the old students, I hope you would not bully your classmates that are weak. We are not promoting any type of bullying here. I hope that was clear."
Miss Scarlet spoke with so much authority.
I'm quite shock hearing her autoratative voice. Very far from her sweet voice when we talked in her office days ago.
"Anyone who are caught bullying will be punished." she added.
Aya then whispered to me. "There are lots of bullies here so you should be extra careful."
I nudge her side slowly. "Don't scare me Aya please." I pouted at her.
We returned our attention infront when Miss Scarlet spoke again.
"Today, I am giving you all a mission. Consider this as one of your training ground. You will go together by group. We had already assigned your respective groups. Don't worry to the new ones, we had you grouped to the old ones so you won't be lost and won't be in danger during the mission."
The students began murmuring. Honestly, I a slightly nervous. Yes, I've been into several fights but still. I am hoping I'll be grouped with Aya or Jas or Calla. Remembering what she had told me make me uneasy. I am not really that strong. And I might be bullied in no time. I had seen several students earlier summoning their magic powers and I must say they we're all well trained. It seems like I am the only new here.
Seconds later, a magic ball popped out infront of us. "The color of the magic ball you had will determine your groups." Miss Scarlet announced.
I immediately saw what color is mine. It's white.
"White" I heard Aya whispered. Quickly, I went to her.
"I also got white," I said while showing the magic ball to her. Atleast she's in my group.
We immediately turned around to look at Jas and Calla since we are infront and they are in our back to know their colors and what group they are in. Fortunately, we are all in one group including Max and Jester.
"Cool. We are together in one group." Jas commented gladly.
Max and Jester were just looking at us silently. Seriously, don't they know how to talk? I look at Jester and the moment I look at him, he also look at my direction. Our eyes met but I quickly removed my gaze at him. I don't like the way he looks at me.
"Be careful when we'll arrive there Serena. Our mission defy life and death," Calla said to me before pulling me with her.
Are we already going on a dangerous mission?
